Even though you pull the plug, you know, like Bob had this metaphor of the computer, which was the analogous to the metaphor of the body. You know, Bob's body 18 months ago lying on the hospital bed. And when the eyes were open, he would watch the little Netflix show that we both liked. Or flip the channel and watch some nature documentary. Or switch the TV off and have a chat with me about some other entertainment, some other dream.having a beautiful dream of being husband and wife, enjoying every second, every last second of it. And then the plug, the cord is pulled out. The energy, the life essence that is fueling this incredible machine, that is making all those dreams possible, that is the energy that is filtered through the body.
Experiencing a seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling. The eyes are still there, the throat, the tongue, everything's still there, but the power is off. The energy doesn't flow anymore. The eyes can't see anymore. The ears can't hear. The body is a corpse, just like the computer. You can play the YouTube and you can have all the different channels. The computer will have the eye, the camera that is looking and is transmitting the signal. It will have the speaker, the microphone, everything, just like anybody. But cut off the power. And it can't see, it can't speak, it can't hear.So this is, again, this is the metaphor of appreciation, how to find appreciation, even for the body, for the temporary existence of that incredible costume, that 3D virtual suit, which enables that energy field, that pure life essence, the pure...
Energy the pure potentiality to have a glimpse of itself to see to hear to taste to touch to smell some call it god so god dreams itself the body so it isn't blind anymore god can see now wow And then the mind comes and says, no, this is I, this is me, a little mini me, little dwarf imagined somewhere inside. This is I, this is I, I am seeing. It's not the life, it's I. Where is it? Who is it? Can that eye actually see?Can that eye stop seeing? Keep your eyes open and see if you can direct that eye, that myself, that me, to stop seeing when the eyes are open.
Prove it to yourself. It has no power. Can that eye think? Can that I stop thinking? And if it can't do anything, if it can't see, if it can't hear, it can't think, it can't stop thinking, it can't breathe, it can't beat the heart. What is it there for? What is it doing? Is it even there? And you can see how the narrative program, which says I, I'm going to the toilet, I'm going to the kitchen, I'm sitting here. Now it relates to the body. I, the body. I, the body walk. I, the body sit. I, the body stand. I am the body. And then the eye says, the narrative software says, oh, I'm thinking about doing something else.
Or I'm a bit worried. Or I feel guilty. So now the eye isn't a body anymore. Now this I is an intellect or is the emotional self or is whatever it is, it's not the body anymore. Or it is a role player, the actor. I as a mother or I as a partner or I as a widow. What is it now? Is it the same I? How many I's is there? Maybe there isn't any. Maybe the energy moving through the computer or moving through the entertainment system of the body-mind, of the dreaming machine, of the projector machine, that is seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, that is functioning in a way of fueling the whole body with oxygen run with the blood.
Making the heart expand and contract the lungs, the liver, the kidneys or brain or whatever the other organs we can imagine that are there because within the dreamThey are all imagined in direct experience. What do I know about my liver? I can say I can feel my heartbeat, but I just feel the energy moving. The heartbeat is a concept, it's an idea. But this is a good enough idea to actually humble that theoretical mini-me, that narrative software, and to show it that it doesn't really have any power apart from the life essence that is functioning, that whole body that is functioning, the whole multiverse. That is projecting those films, thinking about my mother, thinking about my sister, thinking about this, that.
Who's doing that? It's like, you know, your computer. It also has narrative software. It may talk with you if you have microphone installed and Gemini or Copilot or whatever it is. It can, Siri in your telephone can talk with you too. And it can say, I, I think this is right. Or I will do this for you. Doesn't mean there is any either. And yet the functioning is happening perfectly by itself. It's unfolding functioning.
