Welcome everyone, we have Brendan with us, Mish, Tanya, Jamie, Kat and Bob. And as usually I would like to extend an invitation for anyone to give us an introduction and I will sincerely hope that Jamie will accept it. Are you free to decline? Are you happy? Wonderful. I'll hold the sceptre, sceptre of truth. Hello everybody, hello, hello. It's good to be here with Bob. We all ready? I thought today, I haven't got any spiel or nothing to teach or anything like that, I'm glad to have a look at some of my favourite pointers that have had a really big impact on my understanding of what we call nonduality, truth, the message or whatever.
And I guess if I go back in seeming time in my journey, one of the initial pointers that I'd come across was from a very little book called the Tao Te Ching. Tao Te Ching has an opening line and the opening line is very simple. It says, The Tao that can be spoken is not the eternal Tao. And yet Lao Tzu went on and wrote another 80 chapters. That's another story. What that points to, to me, is that this nondual truth can only be pointed at. So we make attempts to describe it which are futile. We might use lots of different words. I Am, I Am, I Am, I Am, I Am, I Am.
I am a member of the National Association of Indigenous Peoples of the United States. The pointers are very useful but never did I mistake that sign for being Camberwell. So we use pointers and they can be very helpful and at the right time they can really hit home in a way that can open something, there can be a sort of opening towards it. And that sort of brings me to my one of my next favorite pointers and that is I can't I don't know who said it I think it was a saint or something like that said what you're looking for is what's looking and that had a profound effect on me of the realization that that it was I Am is the I am looking out into the world, I am trying to see this truth and I am going, it is going to come to me any minute, here it is.
Looking, looking, looking, looking. And when this point has struck home that it actually was what is looking, not that I am looking, but there is a seeing, a natural seeing that is occurring. I am a person who is not a person of the past. I am a person who is not a person of the present. The natural presence that we all are. Without a word of a lie, I laid on my bed sick all. And how stupid! Like, what a practical joke. That was the joke of all jokes. The funniest thing that I'd ever discovered in my life. And in that seeing, of course, the concepts come up again.
And the seeing was then sort of again objectified because what happens is often when this is first seeing, mind comes in again and begins to objectify this awareness. And that's just the old patterns that come up and they come up again. And the belief in the mind has been so strong our whole life We been conditioned that for one that voice those thoughts that we hear we called me If you want to see more of this please click on the link below And what I loved about Bob's message is he just put an end to all that for me. And in that really beautiful understanding that what we are seeking we already are, which is another pointer.
That is the fact. Start with the fact of your own being. And then within time the concepts, and concepts still are constantly arising in this mind, concepts of, you're not quite there or whatever. Nothing can ever take you away from that seeing, that presence of what we are. And over seeming time those concepts will lose their power, their juice. The belief, it's the energy of belief that has gone into those concepts that have come up and we, probably the final concepts that we can often struggle with are these spiritual concepts, these pointers. Because we take the pointers as truth, we take the signpost as being Campbellwell, and we don't realize that they're actually only ever to be looked at and then dropped.
And I guess in the understanding of that, it leaves you nowhere else to go. Like the point to start with the fact that you're already that, that's it. Like, okay. And then when I first met Bob, that was what he pointed out to me. And then he said, so, and there may be a process that's coming up that's telling you that, yeah, well, this isn't quite that. We can have a look at that. Start with the fact you're already that. That is a fact. I knew it beyond a doubt when I first met Bob, but this process of concepts continued to arise for a while.
They never actually stop arising, but they become more of a kind of, it's like those jokes, becomes more humorous. Listen what the mind's going on with now. There's a kind of seeing of that. And another pointer, here we go, very famous Bob pointer, what's wrong with right now if you don't think about it. That is a very powerful pointer because without a thought can there be a problem? Without a thought is there time? Without a thought is there a me? We have... This is a process that is happening mentally that is generating these concepts, generating a reference point and the reference point is everything that's related to this me.
I like this, I don't like that, I'm fearful of this. All these things solidify around this reference point, which is all based on belief and concepts. But in the full stop, it's just this, there's a registering of cars going past. There's a feeling of coolness on my skin from the air conditioning. There's Kat going, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. And it's all being registered effortlessly, just as it is, without a thought, without a need to label or alter, modify and correct anything. It's just happening. And that is the primal first joke that this message is so friggin' simple We just keep stepping over it because what happens in that seeing of just this arises another concept.
What's the first concept? But. But this couldn't be like, it can't be this. And the mind comes back in and seemingly sort of pulls us out of that. And that's a natural thing for the mind to do because it's been conditioned to divide the world up, to divide just this into bits. Into me and you, this and that. Another concept, okay? Another pointer which is beautiful is, and I don't know where these come from, The Great Way is not difficult for those who hold no preference. I not going to have preferences I want to be cool and comfortable I prefer to be comfortable. I don't want to be sitting out in the heat.
We have these preferences and preferences naturally arise. But the fresh translation and the more correct translation is, Great Way is not difficult for those who hold no preferences. Which means, and there's a massive difference in that, it means preferences are going to arise, it's natural. But we're not attached to our preferences. If the preference is not met, there's not a, well, that's not right, it shouldn't be, there's just a natural flowing with what is. And we can, it's only the mind that seemingly comes in and brings us back to that reference point which is not actually there and judges it, alter, modifies and corrects, wants to what is.
And that causes the disturbance, the so-called disease in the mind that this is not enough. This should be other than it is. This is not right. And that's all related to that reference point. I don't know, has anyone else got any favourite pointers that we can talk about? Yeah? Do you want to share one? So, when I first came into awareness of Bob's work, I had recently read The Human Hour about I Am and it's a part of the mind that we can sort of reconcile with. So I was thinking a lot about phenomena at the time and in terms of visualization especially. I think, I don't know what it was, but as soon as I thought about Bob, I saw a pigeon in the yard that seemed to not be in a pattern anymore.
It was like aware that it was a pigeon, or she or he was a pigeon, and seemed to interact with the ground like, I know I'm here, I'm not looking for food, there's something more here. And I was looking at the pigeon, looked back at me, flew up onto the roof. It was almost like an infinite sort of idea that we exist with every kind of animal here, now. And I don't know, it's like a fascination to be in the present moment with people. It really is, because there's so much of our existence where there is as a mind. It's just like there's of no mind or something.
And there's no fear in that, it's just like an automatic pattern that people have. And yeah, I was, that's what I mean when I saw Bob's video about a phenomena. Some people just seem to have a presence here when they're here and we're left with their phenomena. And I can't express that any other way than there is a temple that's not too far away from here in reference to a saint. His name is Sai Baba. And I visited this temple and I found that the presence that I was left with was every day I seemed to see flowers, like on the ground that I can pick up.
And he's on it all the time with like garlands in a statue. And I just thought that's like a concept that I can't grasp in any other way than nonduality. So we don't die. We kind of come back to being born again every time we wake up. Every moment. Yeah, as I said, like a baby or you're crawling out of a bird's nest or something, like you finally made it through here. Again, you don't have to fall, you can just fly. Can I add something to it? Or you, Tanya, wanted to say something? Oh, I just wanted to say that was beautiful. Beautiful. And thank you for a really lovely, clear spiel.
It was really enjoyable to listen to that. And now I'm going to say, but hang on a minute, I need my concepts so that I can understand what I am, what's going on. And then when I've got it, they can all drop away. How about that? I'm joking, this is such a, so common, isn't it, is the pushback, but I, but how can I know, I can't understand me if I don't have concepts. No, no, drop it all. Then, when you, you know, nothing sticks, you can talk about concepts and debate them all day long, and nothing touches, nothing sticks, then you can, not before.
Nisargad tata maas s s O S s A A Ha S S S They fun to play with but like Bob says leave your concepts at the door With your shoes With your shoes But once the truth is seen we have a lot of fun Concepts are great Nothing wrong with concepts. Nothing wrong with the mind. The mind will take its natural place and just translate from that intelligence The The mind is a beautiful creative instrument. Once that is understood, it's beautiful. It creates, it's got a lot of great ideas. But when it starts to think that it's the intelligence, I Am the Master www.nishargad.com.au Thank you very much.
I want a beautiful experience. So much push back on that. Experience chasing. Give me an experience of myself. That's all part of the game, the play. Fine, good, there's nothing wrong. But it is nice to be free of the suffering. And it's also what Mish was saying, you know, Recognize the phenomena. Recognize that all those concepts are passing phenomena. All those visions, dreams, even the insights are passing phenomena. There is something that comes and goes. It can't be grasped. The truth is underlying all those phenomena. There is nothing in the phenomena that could ever grasp the essence of being, which is self-evident. It doesn't need to be grasped.
It can show up in different dreams and visions and concepts of this people or that people, beliefs or whatever, in the whole play of chasing experiences and fantasizing about the now being different than it is and the future being better than it is now. All that phenomena are just part of life expressing itself. And then I'm just gonna say thank you for all those who sent us good morning messages and hi messages. And Tazi says, looking good Bob. And Vivek says hi to everyone. And all the doings, practices, seeking finally come to an end. And it is only now, just now. And Anthony says, when others don't accept the situation in life, still stings a bit.
Yeah, well, but that's just, you know, from the perspective of life, that is just what is happening. The sting is happening. Wow, interesting. How am I going to respond to the sting? Oh, is the body going to get pissed off or mad? I'm curious. Or maybe it will just relax or maybe it will go and eat some chocolate, who knows? Life is an adventure and just see other people are presenting some sort of energies, life is expressing through them. They may be killing each other or they may be loving each other. And now this body also, which is part of life, is going to respond to it in some way or another.
It may even have some concepts floating through how it is going to respond. But response is always fresh and new and depends on the whole 10,000 things around, the infinite amount of factors. So that open field of curiosity and seeing, once you accept it as Jamie said, you are what you're looking for. That you know is the truth and that is the ultimate truth and there is nothing else that needs to be known or understood. Everything else, every other understanding is just blah blah, conceptual,
theories, meaning-making, adding to that basic fact of pure existence, which is miraculous, which is not nothing. It's only nothing for the mind, it's taken for granted.
But you don't really know that you are through the intellect. You know it beyond the intellect, underlying the intellect is that first cause for which intellect is even possible. The plain knowing of existence is there before and prior to intellect and regardless of it. And we have, Debra says, you have air conditioning, I have snow, minus seven. Yes, I got some videos from my motherland, from Poland this morning with everything covered in this beautiful, beautiful white coat of snow. Good morning from Singapore. Yeah, you enjoy your Singapore guys and Thailand. Catherine says love from SA with James. And Anthony says all great intellectuals can't stand leaving their mind behind, laughing out loud.
Yeah, and they also have no choice in the matter because life, from the life's perspective, Life expressing itself as a great intellectual or a great poet or great musician or great swimmer is just what is happening. And there is nothing wrong unless there is an idea that there is something wrong. But even with that idea there is nothing wrong. It's just part of the play. Anika says, love to you all, Bob you look good today. You look good my darling. And Jenny is sending love and Simone, much love from Melbourne, we will see you next week hopefully. And Sol says, good morning and some great clear pointers this morning.
And Jenny says, at times the blah blah is so loud, what a blessing, that I get to sleep. Yes, the space, the silence, it doesn't mind, it doesn't, it unconditionally envelopes and accepts everything. And that stillness of silence is the Sat Chitananda, aware presence of existence. It doesn't have any conditions, it doesn't reject or accept anything, It doesn't comment or add meaning and yet it expresses as inner commentary and meaning making. But you are not exclusively the commentary and meaning making. That space of presence which doesn't have any boundaries like Jamie was saying, you know, who are you when you don't think about it? Are you even a human?
Are you even a body or the mind? Unless the thought comes and gives the shape and the form, the boundary, Like Bob is often pointing out to the five factors of Hinduism. Nama Rupa is the factors that create illusion. Define the phenomena. Sat Chit Ananda, being, knowing, loving, to be, or aware presence of existence. Already here, everybody is experiencing the awareness of existence. Nobody can deny that they are. That's Sat Chit Ananda, simple. And the definitions coming from the language. This is the bed, this is the chair, or this is a vision, or this is last night dream, or this is an inside. Those are phenomena, nama rupa, shapes and forms given by the mind, by that overlaying capacity of interpreting and naming.
So recognizing the phenomena, enjoying the phenomena by all means, and not losing touch with the fact that they couldn't be there Without that plain existence. And the beliefs and the religions, map and the territory, or beliefs in particular diets or particular lives after happening or before, they are all phenomena, they all are here only because you are, only because there is awareness of presence. No belief could be present without awareness of existence. And awareness of existence is undeniable right now. It is the base. Everything else happens because of that. And that's it for the online commentary. So, Mish, do you want to say something? I did notice another one since thinking about Bob.
I was collecting eggshells I found every now and again for the last year. So I had like a small one and a rather large eggshell. From the ground, it was just from walking, just to have a walk every now and again. I know that people love to manifest wealth, happiness, success, whatever it is. I was only interested in manifesting a blue eggshell for like a few weeks. It was like I wasn't going crazy. The next day I saw a smashed blue eggshell on the ground. So I was like, okay, so this is sort of working. Three days later, I'm taking a walk and I see like a lark with a blue eggshell in its mouth.
Half of an eggshell. I'm like, I really want this eggshell. So I sort of chase after the lark a little bit I not letting go of this eggshell this is my find And I looking at it and then it flies up onto the telephone pole and I like oh okay so I have to climb the telephone pole to get the eggshell I'm like, I'm alright, I think I'll just keep walking. I found a whole blue egg on the ground that had dried out because it had a little crack on it. And I still have it. I still have it. And I don't know. It's like as soon as you put the mind to an idea, then you can achieve it, even if it's simple.
Just let me just complete and bring it back to nonduality that you can recognize how the idea of the finding the eggshell is not yours, it arises in the space. Because it's very easy and this is what is kind of the misconception about all the manifestation thing. It brings up the idea that there is a me, there is a tiny little me somewhere inside me there who has the soul or the ego or something. And it has the power and the capacity to manifest things. So this is the construct, this is the mental image created from the past experiences. Because since childhood you were told there is an I, there is a me inside, and that me is in charge of my life, and that me can choose what to think, what to manifest.
And that me is responsible and takes credit for everything that happens. Can I go up on the pole? Oh, I can choose whether I can go climb or no, I will choose to walk ahead. And when you actually look inside, that credit-taking idea or the me is just another thought. So to actually say the same story, and the story of manifestation, by all means, there are people who, and there is a psychological phenomenon called confirmation bias, which actually brings that into the picture, well described and well known. To complete it absolutely may by all means happen that if the whole energy, mind and heart is put into one basket, then it will come into fruition if that's what life intends.
But the idea that this is me that has done it may cause the suffering because the next thing, Idea will come and there won't be enough charge and it won't happen and it will cause suffering. As much as the joyful taking credit, I've done it, even more suffering for, oh shit, I haven't done that. I was mentoring a girl for probably good part of a year who was actually a law of attraction coach. She was coaching, mentoring people how to effectively manifest And she had fantastic successes in her life. She manifested a wonderful loving husband who was prosperous and the house and everything. But there were still things that she couldn't manifest.
Like out of like five things on her bucket list, four were 100% manifested and one was missing. And guess where the mind would go? The whole design of that bio-computer is to protect from danger, is to find faults, is to fix things. So of course all the attention goes to what is missing, what is wrong. And she was suffering so badly, she was on antidepressants and suicidal, and she could acknowledge that yes, these things I have achieved. And then just and she was still attracted to Bob, she was showing on our Zooms and she was still attracted to having that whole conundrum translated to nonduality message in which she hasn't done a thing.
There is no her, there is no little doer inside. It is just what is happening. The life presents the idea, the life fuels that idea with a strong urge, this obsession, but this is not mine, it is life's. So, life also delivers on those obsessive ideas, like it delivers on Edison doing the globe, thousand times he failed, but the obsession was there, it wasn't his, it belongs to life. So, eventually she did see that she does not do any manifestation. It is life providing the thought, it is life providing the energy, it is life providing or delivering or not delivering on whatever she's providing. So she got a little bit disturbed, so I'm misguiding all those people and I'm charging them.
How am I going to live with that? I say again, see how quickly the mind comes to take credit for what you are not doing. If people are coming and asking for whatever the skills you've learned, you may see whether you're going to be delivering or not. You may see whether you're going to deliver the way you learned or you will deliver it in a different way which will take away all the guilt and all the credit. You don't know and it's not up to you. It's up to life what life is going to do with this body. And you as the space-like awareness or open field of presence, you just live in a state of wonder.
Hmm, I wonder, what, yes. Beautifully clarified, Kat, really great. Stuff just happens. Stuff just happens. And the thoughts come to claim credit to give meaning to put in some kind of cause and effect order it all part of the Maya It all part of the illusion of control that this little puppet inside wherever it sitting can pull the strings and make shit happen That is a beautiful concept, but it's just a concept. And you don't want to lose the cosmic dance of the world as Jane was saying. You don't want to get out of that place where you're in laughter because of all the experiences you've chased.
And it's just like, oh no, it's just awareness. That's all it is. It's just awareness. Yeah, just following on what we're talking about, everything just comes and goes and that awareness. The space doesn't care what happens in it, it just comes and thinking happening. We believe ourselves to be this person because we picked up the first word. Then we created a subject-object saying this is me and that's that and that's that object and see different colors and start differentiating everything. Yeah, we can't be any of it really. I am a person who is not aware of the reality of the world. Everything is free to appear and disappear.
The mirror is never touched. And that's a beautiful pointer to our nature. It's the same. It's the same as what we are. There's no preference to one appearance over the other. It's all free to just come and to move on. And that mirror is a beautiful, beautiful pointer towards that. And after that, darling? I don't know. Jamie said, said in the first place, that's, everything is that, that's all there is. Yeah. And that thing he was quoting from, the... You think you mean Dzogchen? Yes. Awareness, that awareness without any concepts. What are you when you're talking from that standpoint? My voice is disturbed, can't talk.
You're not talking from the standpoint. The Great Perfection is non-conceptual awareness. So any concepts you have, though they're appearing and will continue to appear, they're not it. Not it, yeah. Otherwise they put it in. But what do Buddhists call... What's the name of the blue book again? Basic Space of Phenomena. The basic space of phenomena. Now that means that all this manifestation is the content of space. Space is the base in which everything appears. There's nothing that could appear if it wasn't in that space. Or another way they put it is cognising emptiness. Emptiness with the capacity of knowing or cognising. So it all points back to that nondual.
One without a second, not two. Not two. So any idea of two, or any concept or manifestation at all, is not it. So when can you ever be away from it? Only in your mind. And is there such a thing as mind? We say, my mind, or I don't mind, or I do mind. But what is mind? As another concept or an idea, how many words were you born with? You weren't born with any words at all. And you didn't pick up words until you were a couple of years old when the capacity of reasoning dwelt. For that capacity, raised in Kamehameha, you couldn't say you were not, or you couldn't say that you were, because they are words.
And the little child you had no words before you were a couple of years old Can you remember that You can Can you say you were not then You don know You can say all this but you don know that you must have obeyed How could you go on from now and when there's now? So the concept of time is another concept. The great perfection is non-conceptual. Are you unaware right now? No, you know you're not unaware. So you must be aware. But what is that awareness? Can you say what it is? Well we put concepts on that too. Life, love, God, or me, or whatever.
All concepts. And yet the great conviction is non-conceptual awareness. The words can be very useful, but they're not it. It is all a phenomenal manifestation and the definition of phenomena is that which appears to be. So all this manifestation, including yourself, me and everybody and everything else, is a phenomena. Nisargad said, why move away from one absolute reality? Not an other word, that word absolute. You can't add anything to it. You can't take anything away from it. It is absolute and it always has been and it always will be. There has never been anything other than absolute, but it is appearing to be so. They say the Great Reality or the Absolute is a phenomenal manifestation.
And the definition of phenomena is that which appears to be. All this manifestation is only appearing to be so. But as real as it is, as no thing, yet that no thing is everything, no separation. So who's seeking and what are you seeking? Who's not being? The very knowing is I am. Or you can say I am that. And this chair is that, the room is that, the tree is that, the space is that. There's nothing in this manifestation is not that. And you know it. That is the clock, that is the floor, that is you, that is me. That's all that known, that first of.
But then we put the labels and names and forms on it, which discriminate. And the great perfection again is non-conceptual awareness. What are you without the concept? Tell me you're not. You can put all sorts of labels on it, just I am this, I am that, but you cannot negate that I am that. If that wasn't there, who could or what could say it? Have a look for yourself along that line. People just assume this wisdom is some cult. The real cult is that of the material world. Good point. And Bill says, so simple our completeness, the all-encompassing Sat Chittananda, freedom from everything, the love that is our being holding everything.
Beautiful, beautiful and I kind of wanted to just build up a little bit on that brilliant metaphor that Jamie brought up, which Bob often uses the metaphor of the mirror. He will actually ask you to look at the mirror, you want to look at the mirror. And you can see how indiscriminately it accepts everything that appears. It doesn't accept or reject anything that appears, it just reflects it. And that's such a beautiful metaphor of life itself, which in a pure form of the potentiality cannot really experience or express itself. It needs the form, it needs the reflective surface of so-called the world or so-called the mind in which it is reflected.
And even to say that it needs one thing or another is already too much to say, but again, to express it, and that's just life loving itself in the expression of itself. It needs words, and words are limited, and words are all wrong. As Bob said, absolutely, there's nothing that can be added, nothing that can be said about it, nothing that can be grasped about it. And yet the poetry is being written and the music is being written and the dance is expressing, everything is expressing that amazing... There's nothing either right or wrong, but thinking makes it so. There you go. And that's a good thing to ponder upon and see how nothing is inherently any other than just as it is.
And the meaning is added and I have... Bill says emptiness full of cognizing presence. I am that brilliantly clear Bob. And American Julia says you are love itself. If you were not love itself, how could you love anything? That's so beautiful. And Anika, yes? And if there's only one, who could be anything other than that? That's right. And who or what else could be anything other than love? And Anika says, beautiful pointers Bob. Space is the base in which everything appears. Really tied in for me with the mirror metaphor. Thank you. Yeah. Beautiful. When you really deeply dig into all these pointers, they're all pointing to exactly the same thing.
There is... It's only one, of course. It's crazy, you know, like everything Bob pointed to there, it's just, it's all pointing, they're just different ways. There is no duality in nonduality. Yep. is another way of pointing at that truth because the duality itself is the dream, is the illusion, is the thought. Only the thought can appear and seemingly create the dualism because what do we do? We divide that up into another pointer. Speaking of holding sticks, there is no such thing as a one-ended stick. And you know, we've got the smooth end and we've got the pointy end, and the mind comes in and goes, I just want the smooth end.
I don't like that pointy end. We divide the world up and that creates the dualism that, you know, we want this and I don't want that. But it has no existence. The Awakening is the dream of dualism that is so-called appearing on the reality, seemingly dividing it up and creating the disease and when it's seen that is a dream and it keeps appearing another let's go on with some more pointers so that you know that the blue ocean you know yeah we investigate we go down and have a look and go no that's it's actually it's clear water you know so if www.nishargad.com We love to tell stories, we love to tell like as human beings, as beings, that's another label we put on ourselves, the human beings.
But we love our stories and the stories that continue to arise and you can play with stories and we can enjoy the stories. But when you're defined, when you define yourself as a story, because what do you do when you ask someone, who are you? I Am Jamie, I Am a Musician That's what's appearing. But am I limited to that? Are we limited to our story? No. You're free of that. That story would have no substance at all if it wasn't for that natural intelligence that is the base of it all. Which the thoughts, the stories, the feelings, the emotions. And it's a beautiful play and you can laugh and dance and have a great time That's the expression.
It is the intelligence is expressing as everything. And it's just a beautiful show. It's great. Wow! So good. Brendan, do you want to say something before? Yeah sure Yeah I guess just following on like we differentiate everything I a If we didn't have eyesight all throughout our life and then we suddenly knew what a cup felt like, when we didn't have eyesight and then we suddenly got our eyesight back, we wouldn't actually know it's a cup if we looked at it. So in that way, we see that really not whatever we've learnt and differentiated is really through the word. A blind person was to regain their vision.
They wouldn't know that's a cup. They would know what it feels like. But the senses make everything so it feels so real, because we have sight, hearing and everything else. As you said, everything is made by the Word. How many words were you born with? I tell you in the Bible, in the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God, the Word was God. That's all that God is. Another Word we picked up on the way. All things were made by him, by the word. And is there anything in this manifestation we have no word on? And there was nothing made that was made without the word.
So it's all based on this language word ruler. And the word's not the thing. You can't drink the word water. The word water is not blue. I Nisargad ttha Nisargad ttha, I anishgai, Omeep Ttha, I Am... Your example of the blind person reminded me of an article I read about this fellow, I think he's from Mexico originally, who was born profoundly deaf and never really He never learnt sign language, his parents were hearing, and he had a real trouble integrating into society, could do basic things but you know, had no idea what was going on. And you know, would walk around mouthing, opening and shutting his mouth to fit in, right?
Because his observation was that that's what others did, right? One day this linguist lady came or was made aware of his situation and she described how he was profoundly isolated etc etc and she put a lot of effort in and she documented the case and she taught him to language. This fellow just opened up his whole world, but there were two things that she could not teach him, which he refused. He was an extremely clever fellow, managing to understand what was going on, still being profoundly deaf. Two things that he thought she was crazy when she tried to teach him. The concept of time and the other was concept of idea or concept.
From his experience and point of view, that was nuts. Fair enough, right? Who had better grasp of truth? The teacher or the student? I'm going to just include the online community. Yes, that's the beauty to actually see how life is teaching itself, is playing with itself, showing itself whatever it needs to see. I want Bob a little closer in the picture. And Tazi says, nice spiel Bob, all pointers are pointing at non-conceptual awareness. Oopsie, now the rest of the pointing will be on Brendan because again Facebook just deprived me. But yes, again, thank you Bob, thank you for your contribution. It's always precious, not for granted.
And you wanna see if there is anything else to include or? I'm just trying to find it. Do you mind having a look? Oh yeah, I will go there. Yeah, I like Bob's point that you can't drink the word water. Like that's just so... nothing is what it seems. Yeah, I love that. And it ties in so nicely with Jamie. Give it a make because I think we understand. It ties in so nicely with Jamie's example of the sign to Camberwell. It's just so well expressed. It was really good. A little expansion on the word is not the thing, but a really good example. So great, great meeting.
I mean, thank you Bob and everyone for like an infinite understanding To know what words could capture for only like a second and then they're gone. There so many words that we bring into life only to have that reflect back at us and then we see We see people and presence of people So Bill says emptiness full of cognizing presence I am that Nice spill Bob, all pointers are pointing at non-conceptual awareness. Anthony, people just assume this wisdom is some cult, the real cult is that of the material world. Thank you. Yeah, that is exactly what I was gonna say. See how quickly life responds and you never know through which vehicle it responds and how.
And just staying with that curious space and see how every next scene is spontaneously unfolding. Thank you. Life. Yes. And the metaphor that is a beautiful metaphor that Bob is hammering up as well, the blueness, the blueness of the water, the blueness of the sky, it points back to the phenomena always appearing to be, appearing to be. The water isn't blue. Everybody has drunk water in a glass. It wasn't blue, it was clear. But it appears blue when you put it in secret at night, the water will be black. Nonetheless, it is just a reflection. Water doesn't have any color and neither do you. You may appear good or bad or inferior or superior, male or female, but you do not have any color.
Life does not have color. It's space-like. Space is clear. Like the sky. Sky is space. It is clear. It may appear blue, it may appear overcast by the clouds of concepts, for example, or it changes, it constantly changes, it appears to change, but space doesn't change. Sky appears to change, it's reflecting different colours, the sunrise, the sunsets, the night, the Milky Way, whatever, but it is clear space and that is what you are. The The body is temporary, it is a vehicle for life to experience and express itself. And the pointers also, I kind of enjoy the way Jamie was saying, pointers are all pointing to the One because there is only One, it is not even One.
It is really just that potentiality for the totality. It is neither zero because it is not a nothing, but it is no thing, it is no form, it is emptiness appearing as a shape and form, appearing as a form, but it doesn't really have any solidity because it is not eternal and because it is made of vibration. So that oneness which we call oneness in absence of other words, Bob often brings the definition of one without the other, but it isn't even one. It is the zero with the potentiality of everything or no-thing with the potentiality of expressing as everything. So that is what you are and in thatness everything, that everything, seeming everything, fleeting everything, impermanent everything arises.
It is cognized because the space that you are has the capacity to cognize. And it cognizes, it can't deny, it doesn't cognize its own existence as an object obviously, but it can't deny its own existence, no one can do that. Self-shining. Self-shining, ever-fresh presence-awareness, just like the sun. I will not darling, I'll run away from you for the rest of my life, around you and the rest of yours hopefully. Not immediately to stop. I'm happy to run as long as I can. All right. Now you can see another perspective. Translation from English to English And Simone says, love that dimples, Bob. Oh yes, give us a little glimpse more of that.
She's going to give you a finger in a minute. Here, do you want to sit here again, Kit? It is a great privilege and great joy to share Bob and Bob's message with the world. I am very happy to be here in the world and this is not my privilege, it is life doing it. But I do have to confess I occasionally get blamed by people who believe that Bob is longing to see them and I'm standing in the way. That's unfortunately not the case. Bob gets everything that he ever wishes for and wants. And sometimes people say, well it is important for me to see him and sit with him and gaze at him and get his energy, I am asking for your energy, drain his life forces and take it for myself.
And unfortunately at this stage Bob is saying mostly no to those type of requests and it has to be respected. Well, don't make it your concept. No, no, I am responding to those requests. I ask every time the request comes, either for the video conversation or the message from people who know Bob for a long time, every time I ask him, would you see that person, would you see the other person, until I get told off more and more often now that, just leave me alone, I'll tell you when I get better. So yes, we are very, very grateful for every public appearance and every contribution and unfortunately, yes, the expectations have to, we have to prioritize what are Bob's wants and needs at this stage.
Energy in the group of nondual pointing is the energy that is prolific and it builds up and it gives him a little bit, invigorates him as you can tell. But energy of some old friend sitting and gazing or holding his hand or expecting a response or asking questions, that's draining. That's not the same quality energy. And we're still subtly dividing the world up as in Bob has something that he can, that I need that pattern. Life will express and life will take you where you need to go if this is to be seen. www.nishargad.com.au www.nisargad.com.au I Am the One The worshipping the messenger thing. No?
No? Oh, sorry I misunderstood. Yeah, you're right. Trust life. Life's got you covered. So, relax. Chill. It's brought you this far. Correct. And you think you did it. That's the problem. You think you brought you this far. Nah. It just happened. Just, uh, yeah. As you were saying, you know, you can't... Yeah, just chill, because there's no one there to do anything. Take a look, as Bob says, there's the invitation, or the little man or the little lady pulling the strings. Is there a point, a reference point? Is there a boundary? Is there even an inside and an outside? What is your actual experience? I Am the Truth We're all looking in a,
www.nisargad.com.au I am a person who is not aware of the existence of the mind.
www.nisargad.com www.nishagir.com I think Brent has some community input. So Vivek says, The world body appear in emptiness and disappears in emptiness. Emptiness is permanent and the body is temporary. And then, Mark says, Mark says after the better part of 50 years searching I find myself still in the hunt and wonder why I don't just give up. And then An... You can't give up on giving up. There's no one to do it. You can't give up on giving up. And then there's one more. Anthony says the title... Anthony says the time away from your guru is where the real learning is. And I do actually really, really appreciate Mark how you put it.
Even after 50 years of seeking, I cannot find myself giving up. This is not happening. Seeking is happening, giving up is I am not a person who is not interested in the world. I am not interested in the world. You can full stop the mind, so we can full stop. But can you negate the seeing? You can close your eyes, the seeing is still there, it's just seeing darkness in the back of your eyelids. But the seeing, the hearing, the tasting, the touching, the vibration through the body can't be negated. The seeing can't be negated. The awareness, what we are, that reality is, they say, reality is that which doesn't change.
What is that that changes? The mind, the body. Constantly changing. We are aware of that as we all, the body naturally is thinking there's good concepts arising, then other day there's worrisome concepts arising. Constantly changing. The manifestation, nothing's staying the same. Drive through Melbourne now, I don't recognize it anymore. www.nisargad.com.au www If you take your stand and you have that courage of your convictions then you free And if you actually see, because I'll just come back to what Mark was saying. I love the way you put it, you know, that stopping is not happening. That is not what is being discovered. But if you take a stance as that cognising emptiness, that relaxed space-like awareness, in which there is noticing that the mind keeps churning, it keeps somersaulting, it keeps chasing, but you are not your mind, you are that knowing of the mind, You are that emptiness, that cognizing space-like awareness, that witnessing presence in which the mind arises and it chases its own tail or it chases pleasure.
Pleasure can be defined as money or as sex or as spiritual enlightenment or whatever the nonsense the mind comes up with. That characteristic of that computer, biocomputer, that machine, the job, the function of that machine is to always find something other and something better and provide for it in the alleged future. Because that's what it is, that thinking capacity which we called mind is the overlay conceptualized world of past and future and progress and improvement. That's all it is. So seeing it from taking a stance, relaxed, natural state of witnessing presence of the consciousness, the knowing factor. You are the knowing, you are describing, you are cognizing of the fact that the seeking hasn't stopped.
But you as the space are not bothered with whatever mind vagaries are, whatever the stories, meanings, interpretations, judgments, whatever is cooked up there in that computer and narrated. That is the piece of software that has been conditioned, that has been installed since childhood. You as the cognizing emptiness, you may marvel. You may marvel how the mind responds, oh shit, another hot day again, I hate it, I hate the body sweating, I hate... And there is a wow, that's juicy, wow, there's a serious hate going on, wow, amazing, I didn't even know that we're still capable of it. That's incredible. And that space does not have a problem with hate arising towards the heat.
That was a stupid example. It doesn't arise here in this way, but if it does, welcome. Or the disappointment arising. Oh shit, why am I still seeking? What am I seeking? I'm seeking for cat food, whatever. Oh my God, I'm seeking, I was seeking for the antihistamine this morning because Bob was itchy. Seeking arising, so what? How does space care? How personal is this? How important it is? The body-mind is seeking. The space is knowing of it. You are the knowing of it. You are not your car, you are not your coat, like Bob sometimes says, you know, you say my body, like you say my coat, my costume, my car or my house.
You are not your body, you are not your costume, you are not your coat, radio or my TV or my car or my cat, whatever. It is the claiming credit software, the program which relates everything to I or me. And what is that I of me? If Mark was saying I am still seeking, we could ask, okay, so did you see what is that I that is still seeking? The end of the story. all these are good for mate whatever nature moves them but there is no narrative saying this is me I got it wrong I haven't got it I need to find it in the future like Jamie was saying in the spiel see if there is a future if you don't think about it See if there is one really happening in the cognizing emptiness, in this immediacy that is the only reality that can ever be lived through and experienced.
Is the future in which you get enlightened. Father Oslo says the mind is time, isn't it? Because it can only operate in the pairs of opposites and in time. Because you can only remember, the mind is either remembering the past or imagining the future. This reality, the mind can't exist. It has to go back, it has to use imagination and time is imagination. Full stop. Where does that leave you? Right now. That's where it leaves you, right now. Nothing can trouble you except in your own imagination Imaging creating mental imaging in Yeah And even describing this moment as it is if I describe the names and the genders and everything this is what happens, this is from memory, this is already a processing going on.
The moment, immediate, immediate moment is ever fresh, so you couldn't have possibly labeled it, Because you labeled it the second goal. That's what you say, we try to grasp it with a concept and we fail. But still concepts are kind of fun. Yeah, it's fun. And it needs to be pointed at. But the reality is full stop. I remember watching a recording of one of your sessions once, I think it was Peter, said, you know, as soon as we opened our mouths we were fucked. I thought that is, because the word is so limiting in the description. But it is so enticing to want to go into that story, but oh, but my thought, but I'm having doubts, or my thoughts are telling me otherwise.
First thing, there's a couple of things going on. First is that if you really look and pay attention, first of all they just appear and there's really only the listening. You're listening or hearing those thoughts. And second is who's listening? What's listening? You can't find an individual entity, there's just the discovering of it, the experiencing, the cognising emptiness. And what are thoughts? Can you grasp them? Are they material? Are they solid? Where are they? That's it, they're gone. And when you try and recall, when you think you're thinking of a thought you had, you're actually having a new thought. You're not having it, it's just coming.
It's, you know, and that is an inaccurate, imperfect, imagined memory of something that seemingly happened. I kind of have a question because I'm not sure about it. With time, is it for distance? Is that why it's there? Is it like trying to make sense of distance or I'm not sure. I'm a bit confused with time. We are just so aspect of time, aren't we? So as an aspect of time, there is an old... If you stop thinking, it doesn't exist. Yeah, but that's what I mean. There's no agenda of time when we get into an aspect of time. We don't have to place ourselves... We are ourselves.
No, there is nothing to hold on to with that. Time is just a measurement. It's like we have a ruler and we can use it. The The It has no stand-alone validity. There is only one thing and it is no thing and it is all of that and that is presence-awareness. Time is relative. It is a measurement of A to B. Like distance is a measurement of A to B. Einstein nailed it a long time ago. It is relative. Mmm... Mmm... I love that. And let me just bring the life's perspective, because human pers... You want to say something? When does now begin? When does now begin?
Yeah. Now. And when does it end? Now. So it's beginningless and endless? Beginningless and endless, yeah. That's the definition of eternity. There's no beginning and no end. And also I just wanted to bring the life's perspective, because from human perspective there's a practical aspect of daily functioning, But human perspective is just one of the infinite amount of perspectives. Now you are the life, you are the ocean. Now you are the ocean waving as every form and every aspect and every phenomenon. This is you showing up as the 10,000 things. Now if we look at the capacity, human capacity to see, hear, taste, touch and smell, they all kind of tie down to this one present immediacy.
But now we look at the capacity for thinking and suddenly see how life gets an expansion in the creativity of life because every thought is another universe. From the creative perspective, life's perspective, ocean's perspective, the thinking capacity, imagining capacity is capacity to create world after world after world. What an incredible capacity for expression From human perspective this is as much of a blessing as it is the curse because it creates elation and creates suffering But life doesn The I have a perspective and by yesterday's I have perspective and if I'm in a good mood I have different perspective and then 10,000 things more is created in that appearance.
Life is oh wow yummy. Like the creativity of having fantasy and fiction and movies and music, all of those are just the infinite ways in which it dances and expresses itself. And everything, all the meaning it has. Yes. The manifestation is inherently neutral. Yes. And it's... We do, we exactly like that. And again, time. Sometimes time can pass, an hour's gone, it feels like five minutes. That's the experience of it. Yeah. The We actually are born and we actually die. Time doesn't, well time is kind of... Does it in a way? There is no I that is trapped. You see, I is imagined as living through time.
Yeah, yeah. And then again if you look at the neuroscience it will even tell you that there is a particular part of the brain which is responsible for creating that illusion of self living through time. That hallucination of self. Yes. Yes, spatial awareness is kind of, we share it with the animals and it is a part of the brain which kind of is more tied down to the daily functioning. Practical. Practical, yes. While self-living through time is practical in another way because it is responsible for creating that incredible art and the civilization and all of that which animals don't have that capacity. But it is imagined.
So now if there is an I that everything is related to and it is hallucinated, now of course the time is natural consequence of that. Although as Tania was saying earlier, the guy who was born deaf would refuse to accept that, would refuse to, The brain is responsible for conceptualization. People who experience other disruptions like psychedelics or stroke in the left part of the brain are responsible for that hallucination. They would not conceive that life would be just a constant amazement of this present unfolding. And in a way, from life's perspective, that is a disability. Life cannot dream us freely. I mean, it will dream still, but cannot relate and interpret so many other dreams.
Like you can see how many versions of your own story you can tell. Like you can conceive of hundred versions of story of me every day, every moment, depending on everything. While in that immediacy, it is just what's happening as it is. We've mistaken the map for the territories. We're chewing on the menu rather than... Signed a camel well. Yeah, exactly, because... And as Kat said, it's a natural functioning and that idea of a self-traveling through time is a useful concept as we move through life, But we take the map to be the reality here. Brian, just... Oh yeah, you have... Is that not all?
Yeah, we finish it. Just wrap it up. Just read the last one. Bill said, nothing can trouble you but your own imagination. Well, when you see this for yourself, the natural state of peace and eternal well-being is recognized, seen and felt as your own being and feeling. Yeah. That's beautiful. And we have access to having infinite awareness. You don't have to limit yourself in any construct of time. We don't have infinite awareness. Yeah, but if we are aware and we have that in the inside of our minds And even that's an illusion when you're not getting caught up in Maya. And you can meditate to the point of breath where you can sort of realize the mind in clarity.
That's when you know that we are here now, the people. Do you know that you are? Yeah, I am. That's it. Do you have to meditate for that? Stop. Do you know that you are? That's it. Leave it. Drop everything else. Yeah, that is, yeah. Unfortunately, in the way Bob presents the message, there is no action that is required from the individual to perform in order to become aware of what they have. They have nothing. Space has everything and it is everything and it doesn't really need to do anything. Full stop, that was beautiful. That is actually a wonderful, wonderful way to say thank you to everyone and to wrap it up.
Thank you Bob. Thank you. Full stop!
