Welcome everyone and we start from saying our names. David, Darren, Chippin, James, Julia. And we're still waiting for Dean. It's good to see you all. It's a long time since we've been a group. We're still talking about the same old thing, which is no thing, that expresses as everything, what they call non-duality, or Advaita, or lots of other names or labels they put on it. But on the one essence. And the most common one is what they call God. But that can lead to different interpretations of that. Different people have different interpretations of that. And all the different traditions have different takes on it. But basically, it's non-duality.
Non-dual. Not two. Not two means the one essence that's patently shaping, forming, experiencing and expressing as everything. And that's the great mantra. That. Which we all know. I am that. But realise that that they're talking about is everything. The tree is that. The flower is that. The space is that. The seats in this room. You, me and everything else is that. Innately we already know that. But we've taken it to believe we are this separate entity, this person. This conceptual image. That that means the absolute. The one essence that's patently shaping, forming, experiencing and expressing as everything. As I say, we've put labels on it, or words, which discriminate it.
Now, these words. How many words were you born with? I ask you, can you remember your birth? You can't. Because you didn't have any words. How could you say you were born when you had no words to label it with? And you didn't learn any words until you were about two, two and a half when the capacity of reasoning developed. So, doesn't that mean that you are prior to the word? Because you were living for those first couple of years without the word. So, if you are prior to the words, what must you be? You must be that life essence which is enabled in the pattern, shapes and forms.
And to express through that pattern we call the body, mind. As expressing through many other things in this manifestation. But the word is not the real. You can't drink the word water. You can't swim in it. You won't drown in it. The word fire doesn't burn your mouth. You can't cook with it. So, when you look at this I or me in that line and investigate it and see it can't be what you're taking yourself to be. Because you say, I am this body, mind. I am this person. I am this individual. And that needs to be investigated to see if it's so or not.
Are you the body? Are you the body? Are you the mind? Are you the mind? Innately you know that already. Because you say, my body, my mind. You say my coat, my car, my house. You know you're not the coat. You know you're not the car. You're not the house. They are not you. And maybe this, when you're saying I am this body. I am this body. When innately you know you're not the body. But we believe we are because everybody around us is reinforcing that idea and we're taking it to be so ourselves. Taking ourselves to be this body, mind. A separate entity. An individual.
When they say there's only one essence, patterning, shaping, forming, experience, expressing as everything. It's non-dual. Not two. In believing in the word, we've lost sight of it. Taking ourselves to be this person. This separate entity. This individual. And that's where all our suffering comes from. The belief we're separate from the absolute. And when you look at the word belief, look up your dictionary definition of belief, the definition of belief is an unquestioned acceptance of something in the absence of reason. It means we haven't reasoned it out. We've taken it for granted. When our parents told you you're Little Johnny or Little Jane or Little Billy or whatever your name is, you believe this is what I am.
So that label or word you put on yourself, you've taken that to be what you are. Instead of realising what they tell you down through the ages, that it's the one essence. If you like to call it God, God is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient. Total intelligence, total knowing, total being. And in Hinduism they call this Satyadananda. Existence, consciousness, loving to be. The other two factors, Nama-Rubra, are name and form. And I tell you that name and form is Maya. It's illusion. They describe it as a phenomenal manifestation. And the definition of phenomena is that which appears to be. So all these names and forms, though they're seemingly solid, substantial, are only appearing to be so.
Same as this body, mind. You can't say, I am this body. Because you don't remember your birth. We've taken it on board and believed it without questioning it. And the same with the mind. When you investigate this body and you say, my body, what's the body made up of? Investigate it a bit further. Because that's an important thing we point out here too. That the false cannot stand up to investigation. We've taken on all these erroneous or false beliefs without investigation. When you have another look at them and look into them, you might find out they're not as they appear to be, tell you, where they're causing all the problems and that.
It might be necessary to be, if you don't take them on board for those problems to be there. They only can come about when there's a sense of separation. Don't take existence, consciousness, loving to be. Anyone who is not existing right now, and you'll say, no, I'm existing. Anyone who is not conscious or unaware. No, again you'll say, I am conscious and I'm not unaware. So I must be aware. Anyone who's not happy to be. Well, none of us want to be dead right now, do we? So naturally we're happy to be. So what do you mean with that? You've just seen that you are already that.
Because you're not. If it's existence, consciousness, bliss or loving to be, you are existing, you are conscious, you're loving. What else is there to acquire? Yet we've got this idea. We are the separate sense of separate self for this individual, this person. From that point of view, we think we've got to become realized or liberated or aware when it's already there. And that's when the search starts. And the search becomes the problem. And some of us have been interested in this for a long time and seeking earnestly and sincerely and never found it. Why not? You're intelligent people. You've worked out so many things in the mind.
But there's an answer to life we're trying to work out. It hasn't happened. Well, it mightn't have just dawned on us, if it hasn't. Maybe I've been looking in the wrong direction. Where have you been looking? You've been looking in the mind for the answer. And why haven't you found it there? Because I pointed out earlier when I told you you were born without the word and you were prior to the word. Well, you were prior to this thing called mind. So when you're looking at something in the mind that's after, that's came upon you after the birth and after the knowing that you are, you can see why it's impossible to find.
Because you are prior to it. And it's just another happening, occurring in that thing we call mind. So we ask you to investigate along the lines we point to. Because if you are already that, you are prior to it. And nobody can ever give it to you. And there is nothing to get. What can you add to the absolute? The absolute, you can't, nothing can be added to it. What can you take away from it? Nothing. It wouldn't be absolute. Or as they put it in Buddhism, the great perfection. What can you add to the perfect? Nothing. What can you take away from it? Nothing.
And that's one of the, of the end of the Guru Gita we used to, there's a verse there, I forget what it is in the natural language now, but it's translated, it means this is perfect, that is perfect, everything is perfect. If from the perfect, the perfect is taken, only the perfect remains. It points out that you can't, nothing can be added to it, nothing can be taken away from it. And that's slow. And so, because if you are prior to words, how are you going to find an answer in the word? And when you look into these words we've learnt, and you'll see that the word is not the real.
It's just a description of something that we put on it, which is not actually how it is. Take the word water. Can you drink the word water? You can't. Take the word fire. Does it burn your mouth? Can you cook with it? The word water, you can't swim in it, you can't drown in it. So what's this word I or me? Is it this conceptual image you have about yourself, which came upon you after a couple of years when you learnt words? Is it that? Or are you prior to the word? And as I've pointed out before, you can't negate your existence, you can't negate the consciousness or awareness, and you can't negate that beingness.
That's translation. We put on it words. Now that's the fact of it. It's not the label we put on it. Put the label on and see what happens. I am Bob, the Australian. I'm a good fella, or I'm not so good, or I'm happy, I'm fearful, I'm anxious, I'm depressed, people don't like me. But all these concepts, which are more words, and the energy of belief goes into them, and that's what we take ourselves to be. A separate entity that is not realised, not limited, that's bound up in these concepts of words. That's the true part of it. It's seemingly bound up in the words.
Seemingly so. And we're looking in the mind for the answer. And you realise the birth and the living was prior to the mind. How are you going to find the answer in the mind when you are prior to it? And that's why they say the answer is not in the mind. And so these things need to be investigated and seen. Because we learnt words from our parents. Then, after a little while when we went to school, we learnt more words. And then we started to believe in the words. And then we, in that belief, it became I am this, I am that, I am something else.
The word became the real. So words can be very useful in our language and our activities. But understand what they are is a vibration of energy. All word is, is sound. Thought is sound. Sound is noise. And sound, the noise vibrates into words, thoughts, ideas, images. That's all they are. A vibration of energy. That is what you actually are. A vibrating pattern of energy. Take the body. I am the body. My body. What's the body made up of when you investigate it? See, when you investigate the body, the body is made up of everything. Elements. Air, earth, fire, water and space. Well, if you think, ah, this body, take the water out of it.
When you say my body, you think that you are. This my or this conceptual image you have about yourself has or owns this body. But when it's made up of, take the water out of it, see how long it would last. See what the me or the my can do about it then. Can that keep it alive? Take the fire, the body temperature. You'll get hypothermia and die. Take, stop breathing. You'll die. Take all these concepts or ideas away and you must realise you are not this body. Break all these elements down, the water, the fire, the space and everything like that. They can all be broken down into subatomic particles.
Further than that, into pure energy. Into vibration. And that's all this body is. A vibration of energy. It's seemingly solid, isn't it? Seemingly looks and appears to be solid and substantial. But, it's a vibrating pattern of energy and it's constantly transient. Constantly changing. You say my body and you can go back in memory. You can't remember your birth but you can go back to when you learnt words. And that's when you call it my body and you think from then on it's been this conceptual image. You think that it is this so-called me or my, the conceptual image you've built around yourself. Owns this body.
But it doesn't. The life essence that you are and that's is what you are and that's what all this manifestation is. It's life. That life essence, the intelligence energy that's formed by all those vibrations has formed, pattern shaped and formed this body. As something to express through. In its absoluteness, in its perfection, it can't do anything. Because it's not separate but in its innate intelligence or knowingness it forms this little embryo which becomes the body and the mind to express through and know itself through. And that's what is happening. When you look at this body-mind and realise it's everything in this manifestation is happening. We put labels, patterns, shapes and forms on.
And ancient texts and scriptures will tell you that it is one essence, patterning, shaping and forming, experiencing, expressing and everything. It is that absolute. But we take on this belief we are the person we've separated it into individuals, separate items. And where does it all appear? Doesn't it appear in the thing that's closest to your eyeballs right now? Space? Can you postulate or think of anything outside of space? What would it be in? To try and put it in something you'd have to put more space to put it in. And they call it a cognising emptiness. A space-like awareness. And that's the screen if you look at it and see that all this manifestation appears in.
Everything appears in that space and the silence and the stillness that space is composed of. Silence, the stillness, pure intelligence energy. So it's all things, what we call things appearing in space. Instead of seeing them as things we see them as bodies, minds, trees, flowers. We put the label on them and now they're taking on these patterns, shapes and forms. But go back to the basic screen, space. You've got space in front of you right now. Cut it, divide it, grab a handful of it. See what you can do with it. Do you appear in it? Or does it appear in you? Well, I am appearing in that space.
The space is there before this pattern, shape and form appeared, before it had any words or anything at all. As it was forming in the womb, in the mother, and has formed her and everything. So it's all no thing. I mean by that it's not a vacuum or a void when we say nothing. That's when we take it on or it's a vacuum or zero, zilch. We don't have to do anything. But say no thing. Means it hasn't got any pattern, shape or form, but it is appearing in the no thing. Because space is no thing. Yet the capacity of all these pattern shapes is forced to appear in it.
So this vibrating pattern of energy, which is a seeming thing, is actually a no thing. It has that suffused with innate intelligence that enables it to express pattern shape and form. And that's how it's come to be being divided and seemingly separated. And all the manifestation that's going on all around us is that same animating life essence. That you and I and everything else is. That needs to be recognised. When I said earlier people have looked in the mind and tried to find the answer when they point out your pride of the mind, they haven't found it. And that's what we point out here. That's what the great text will tell you.
The answer is not in the mind. Because the mind is so called mind is prior to thought, feeling and emotion. So we'll never find the answer there. And so we continue to look thinking we will become realised or recognised or something like that. We've taken on another concept, becoming. Now when you look into that concept, becoming is not being. And if as we're pointing out, it is pure being it'll never be becoming. Because being cannot become something. Becoming implies a future time. Investigate time also. And see if there is such a thing as a past and a future. There appears to be like all this phenomenal manifestation it all appears to be it's all seemingly so but investigated it is not so.
It is not as it appears. And you look at that one you see you believe yourself to be a human being. That's the label we put on ourselves. If you believe in God or a greater power you'll call that the supreme being. We're making it much greater than our seeming selves. The supreme being. But take away that word or the language supreme and take away that label or word human. Without the word human or supreme have you stopped being? You're sitting there right now have you ceased being? And you realise, no I haven't ceased being I'm here. So you see, you are prior to the word you are prior to the space and the concepts and ideas we've got about it.
You're beginningless and endless timeless, spaceless bodiless, mindless. So isn't that going to make a difference? If you're living from this conceptual image, this divided being this person and it's causing your fear your anxiety, your stress your guilt, your shame, remorse all the psychological suffering has come about because of that sense of separation. Absolute cannot be separated. The greater perfection cannot be separated. It's always, you can't add anything to the absolute, it wouldn't be absolute. You can't take anything away from it, it wouldn't be absolute. That's the same with perfection. So you're already that, but we've lost sight of it in the belief that we've become these individuals these persons.
And people when they put all these traditions around it these religions and put all sorts of rules and regulations on it and now not only separate it from the individual but we're sinners we're unhappy, we're fearful anxious and depressed beings and constantly moving away from the absolute. What happens, what needs to happen, it needs to recognize and settle back in your true nature. Recognize. They call it a cognizing emptiness and think from that we believe we are cognizing or knowing the emptiness. But the Buddha told you that, he says it's a cognizing emptiness, not that we are cognizing it. The emptiness itself fused with that intelligence entity has the capacity of cognizing or knowing.
And he made the statement that emptiness is form and the form can be nothing other than the emptiness. You haven't given me a clock. Go on darling. Go on. Emptiness is form. Form can be nothing other than emptiness. All these patterns, shapes and forms that are seeming real are still only the emptiness. But that amazing intelligence that's expressing through and as in enables them to pattern, shape and form all these experiences. All patterns and shapes of that intelligence energy the one essence. And it's seeming so. But if emptiness is form in an investigation you'll see that as so because I pointed out all things are forming.
And the form can be nothing other than emptiness. You must recognize that you are not the patterns, shapes and forms they are appearing as. You are the essence of it. The intelligence energy. That is it. The one essence and reality that's experiencing and expressing everything. You can call it God. You can call it infinite. You can call it what you like. You can put those words on it. But no label can fit it. Because the description can never be the described. And what we're trying to describe here right now will never ever be its description. But it's a useful pointer. And that's why they tell you you'll never find the answer in the mind.
And they describe that in this way. They'll say I'm not the answer I'm the answer. You've got to grasp or recognize the peace that passes all understanding. That means it's beyond the mind or prior to the mind. There'll be no peace while you're looking for it in the mind. It's beyond all understanding. And that's what we're doing when we're thinking. We're understanding this, understanding that or think we are. So another good pointer. You've got to recognize and have a look at this mind see how real it is. And to get the taste of what you are you've got to recognize what is prior to the mind, before the mind.
Prior to the words, thoughts, ideas and images. That's why they say you'll never find the answer in the mind. Because the mind is always putting concepts ideas and images. Have a look at that and see how it functions. As Shakespeare told you four or five hundred years ago there's nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so. And have a look at that and realize that's the fact. What can you say about it right now if you're not thinking about it without the thought? Can you say anything at all about it? You can say all sorts of things about it but what are you using?
You're using thought to put the description on it. Without the thought what is it? Isn't it just as it is right now, sitting here right now just as is without being conceptualized or divided up even if it is being divided up and conceptualized. What's dividing it up? A concept a thought an idea and where is that appearing? Isn't that vibrating into that life essence that you are? So again, is it anything other than that life essence? It's now appearing in this world and everything in it but in the taking belief in it thinking the words are real and relating them to what we believe ourselves to be without reckoning I am this person I am this separate entity I am this individual I'd get an idea why you can never grasp it with a concept or why you can never find the answer in the mind and why you can never become becoming implies a future time but without any of those concepts realize that that is all there is and you are that now do you think those concepts which are appearance could ever change it?
Now we've got the idea they're changing it I believe it they're not changing it at all so the awareness is still there even with the concepts going on it but it's true nature is non-conceptual awareness so it's not a matter of doing away with thoughts but recognize that thoughts feelings, emotions are coming up, they're happening what's your next thought going to be when you look at that and twist it you can't say but a thought will come up and you say I think not realizing it as soon as you say I think you've formed a subject me the absolute the absolute pure intelligence energy has now become that I thought that's me Bob the Australian and blah blah blah has become the thinker and what I'm thinking what the thought is that's coming up becomes the thought the thinker the thought I think becomes the thinker the thought is the subject and what I'm thinking has become the object I'm thinking this thought so it's objective and this thought has become the object so thinking has been divided into subject object duality but have a look at that can there be a subject, a thinker without thinking there can't be can there be the object the tree or the flower or what I'm thinking about without thinking there can't be so subject object is duality and the actual is thinking the same goes for the seeing the hearing the tasting the touching the smelling all divided conceptually with the thoughts into subject object without the thoughts can there be any division thinking happens seeing happens experiencing happens it's all functioning the experiencer and the experience a subject object the seer and the seeing subject object the thinker and the thought subject object the taster and the touched tasted subject object the experiencer and the experience all take place in the experiencing seeing hearing the ing on it gives us something that's happening right in this moment seeing doesn't say I was seeing but the actual functioning of it is seeing hearing tasting touching and can you find the you that's doing that you might think there is but have a look in the meantime while you might be pondering on that have you stopped breathing you haven't has your heart stopped beating it hasn't has the hair and fingernails stopped growing they haven't the life is still going on the animation but it's no longer divided into subject object duality it's what's happened to this subject me how's that working well have a look a thought comes up and the way that thought comes up as you say see that for yourself when you don't know what your next thought is going to be you must realise the thought so a thought comes up and you like it and you don't want the things we like to go away we want to keep them there they're good not realising they're transient no matter how much you love them no matter how much you want to keep them there it's going to change but you don't want it to change you want to hang onto this one it's a good thought it's related to my family or loved ones or something like that we don't want them to go or be hurt not really going to go so what do we do we make it trying to make sure we keep it there we resist it from going and resistance if you are in resistance to anything at all you're in conflict any conflict that means you're at war with it you're fighting with it, against it conflict is uneasiness and that uneasiness the fear, the anxiety the stress they've got is dis-ease, another word for it so there is resistance conflict and dis-ease something comes up and I do like it well I said that the first and I don't and I don't like it well I've got to get rid of this one tell me I'm not going to tell me this by any means at all I've got to get rid of it I don't want it so what do I do with that one the first one I wanted to keep there this one I want to get rid of so what do I do, do the same thing I'll resist it, fight against it do all my thing in my power to get rid of it again conflict, unhappiness dis-ease, fear anger so that's what's happening all out in all our lives and we're doing that more frequently as we grow older we learn more and more stuff where initially as your little children it was with us a little bit longer but it can be with us again in the recognition that what we're relating to is a fiction and you are that pure essence, a pure intelligence energy when there is no longer resistance going on and you've had taste of it through your life and you've had moments when it's been where you've sort of dropped into it and had taste of it where everything's fallen into place and it's all been everything's been okay you can say there's nothing wrong anymore in it we haven't noticed it so much and the conflict and anxiety and fear all the psychological suffering has become seemingly stronger than it had been and we notice the reality less and less and that's what needs to happen you need to recognize your natural state like the sun, when the clouds obscuring the sun it's pretty dull out there pretty alone what happens when you you realize that the sun itself forms a cloud and the sun will blow the cloud away what happens when there's less clouds in the sky isn't there more clarity isn't it a clearer sky, spaceless more clarity sun shining in its brilliance more warmth more compassion more love naturally there which is not being obscured by the fear the anxiety, the guilt the shame, remorse, the unhappiness so there's the clue blow the cloud of thought away let it go, let it go out with the breath don't fixate on it see it for what it is like clouds are passing so are thoughts there is no cloud stitched in the sky and there is no thought stitched in your head each thought comes and goes we fixate on it and keep it there keep it there now some thoughts can be useful which are not pertaining to the me to work things out can be utilized but a lot of other thoughts are self destructive so recognize the thinking see how it's functioning and they're going to be a release from that conceptual fear, anxiety, stress guilt and remorse that's going on abiding in your natural state which is it this presence awareness that's with you right now presence pre-sense before the senses have got time to lock in and divide it as good, bad, pleasant, painful right here, right now with no thought isn't that clarity there just grab it right now and it's a meeting before the next thought comes in I'm seeing everything in this room so are you but in this moment I'm not putting any labels on I know who you are what you are, you are it I'm saying there's so and so there's no good and the moans of the bastard and I'm happy who's taking it on board and then that's what comes up see if I'm not watching so you see this me the believed in me is the cause of all my psychological suffering me is the cause and the anxiety, the fear, the stress, the guilt the unhappiness are the effects of that cause now isn't that what so called karma is cause and effect we're all on about this karma but what happens you ask yourself the question can there be an effect without, can there be a cause can there be an effect without a cause there can't be an effect without a cause so question the cause the cause is me and you recognise me as a fiction and you can't relate to a cause well what's going to happen to the effects without a cause where can they lodge what can they fixate on there's no where for them to fixate at all if you haven't got this conceptual idea of being the separate entity of the person so all this concern about karma what happens to that if you can't relate it to anything so you see it for what it is another fiction you do away with it how's the time?
ah thank you the timeless is right in front of me so that'll do for the day I think you'll be sick, you'll be sorry you came back if I go on that long so we ask you this quite a few of you have got a good understanding of this because you know we get sick and tired of a lot of us staying in a traditional beliefs we've got to do penance and suffer for this and suffer for that and innate intelligence tells you there's got to be more to it than this and it starts you looking a bit further and looking a little further you go to something else and that will take you if it's necessary somewhere else or if it's not if it directs you to the truth it'll take you to the truth and you'll recognise the truth and you can be free of it but while we keep fixating and locked in it it doesn't happen so as I say some of you that have moved to look at this and colour here and have got a good understanding then you can probably point it out better than what I can different ways of pointing it out and others might have questions and doubts that need to be questioned and need to be pointed out too and seen what that is but anyway question or doubt or tell us about it and that generally gives a bit more to it than what I'm saying so away you go thank you darling I'll let you put your ears on yes I need my ears and you start we don't have any questions from people online we have love sent from New Zealand and few people there's 25 people with us today so 26 sometimes and no questions just great to see you all good morning from Tanya and love to everyone from New Zealand so what we're going to do we're going to just open it up for everyone if the questions or comments come we're going to include them so Bob could you speak a little bit about resistance he's putting his ears on so we can we have a request for Bob to speak more on resistance we've got this concept about what we believe ourselves to be and and naturally if everything doesn't go along with that and we're suffering because of that we resist it from being there and try to get rid of it not realising that we're the very idea of resistance is coming from the seeming person that's doing the resisting and so the seeming person if it doesn't like it we're doing what we do while we're locked into it we're going to retaliate if we don't like something we're going to fight against it thinking we know we'll be able to do it with the concepts with the mind think our way through it or work our way through it somewhere or other with thoughts and things like that but not realising or forgetting or losing sight of at the time that they tell you the answer's not in the mind and we won't find the answer there instead of letting it go letting it be and relaxing into the space where the mind is not or can't attain it but in relaxing into it it'll be recognised what it is and then you'll see it falls away by itself it's not the truth and realise that it's all transient it's all changing anyway so if we allow that change to happen without being in conflict you'll see through it a lot quicker than what if you're struggling with it gotta be forced to recognise in the finish that the answer's not there Sorry can you take the speaker?
Sorry I just noticed there's a story of resistance and then I find that the action is the opposite to the story now like there'll be an old pattern story of resistance to whatever and then the action is different as the opposite so if there might be a story of resistance then I find myself doing what it is I'm resisting yeah that's right that's what's happening could you hear me then? yes thank you Jane could hear you but there's few people online with us who couldn't hear you so can you repeat the spontaneous activity happening aww aww yeah unfortunately with that moving mind like it's a little bit of an issue well we'll skip that one ok we'll skip that one so I'll just give it a little bit of a of a recap from the rather than from the individual perspective from the space like perspective if I recognise who I am I'm the space I'm the consciousness arising how do I care whatever happens space doesn't really have any judgement or any care about whatever happens it allows everything already without the act of allowing because it doesn't even have the capacity to reject or resist or allow it just is and this is who I am I just am but then part of attention gets carried away to the idea and that part of the attention following the idea divides into a part of attention that judges the idea and now we have two thoughts resisting each other there is an idea and there is resistance towards idea and there is a judgement towards the resistance on the idea and all of that is happening in that space like that consciousness that I am so really just stepping back from that movement of the mind into the recognition what I truly am is the way out of hell really so we have the question also from people who didn't actually post it here but I got it from from Kiran and Karl whether we are going to do the meeting on a week then or on Sunday one of the Zooms converting to the in-home meeting that's just an offer and also we didn't broadcast that we are going to have we are allowed to have 10 people and we do have 10 people here today we are going to have 10 people certainly next Sunday so if anyone would like to join the meeting please contact us in any way you want just make sure we got the contact whether it is a messenger or whether it is Bob's email or the phone or anything anyone who would like to join the Sunday please because we have to book in so we do have to confirm that you can come and if we have more than the people that we could accommodate we are probably happy to would you be happy to convert one of the Zooms to the in-home meeting like Tuesday for example we'll see we'll see what's the response and tomorrow tomorrow there is no limit to how many people can join us on Zoom oh no that's right in the US so Bob has been kind enough to go the extra mile and throw in a fourth day of Zooms because most of the Zooms are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings which is about 2.30 in the morning if you are in Los Angeles or New York or some other time zone so he is very kindly doing this again tomorrow 9.30 in the morning and then we will have a meeting at 2.30 Melbourne Monday time but it will be Sunday afternoon so there is no time but it helps to know that you can talk to him live at 2.30 in the morning you don't have to do that time so anyway so anyone else would like to add anything anything question, comment well yeah with resistance I noticed this morning that there was a lot of I got a phone call from a family member and they just proceeded to oh gosh just do whatever they were doing anyway but there was a push back from here you know there was just I didn't want to hear it I didn't want to hear any of the nonsense and I just didn't have any capacity in me but the thought was oh but that's not TAS you know TAS is so nice and TAS is a people pleaser and TAS needs to be a doormat and TAS just needs to take all this bullshit and this morning there was just this push back and I'm so glad Jane brings up resistance and how Kat you talk about things just appearing in the space because that's liberating because I'm not confined by who people think I am or what I think I am or ought to be it's spontaneous and it's fresh and it's full of energy and full of life and I'm just tired of being this doormat beautiful beautiful beautiful you can step on me Bob and you will you don't we have couple of comments here from people who are online the word from Amarnath no cool no outs I guess there's no questions no answers what a beauty source without source and a lot of kisses there And we have, let's see this actually looping here.
Neither resist nor ease. There is no one here yet everyone is everywhere. Change is changeless. Changeless in change. Paradox. That was all Amarna. And Julia says, British Julia, okay we heard. Amarna says, spaceless space. Great party today. He probably sees all the bikis and lunch behind us. And now we have Holly. Can you, this one is challenging. Can you speak on non-judging good and evil? We are happy when others are loved and supported and unhappy when others are mistreated. Oopsie, now I have to read it from my phone, sorry. That one's jumping. When others are mistreated and hurt. Happy when a puppy is adopted and unhappy when a puppy is hit by a car.
But Nisargadatta says, likes and dislikes keep one bound. Thank you. Would you like a comment on that Bob? Well. Keep it for a moment? Like the story I used to tell them and said every now and again I'm written really good so I had to bring it up. Years ago, I had a little canary. A beautiful canary. Yeah. I'd stick him out, up the country at the time. I'd stick him out in the cage or branch. hanging from a banter of a tree up there, and he'd whistle his little heart out all day in a joint. And one night I forgot to take him in.
Get up next morning and all that's left are a few feathers on the bars of the cage and a bit of blood. People said, oh, oh, the poor canary. I said, well, it wasn't too bad for the owl. It ate it. So, you see, when we talk about good and bad and things like that, it all depends on the point of view you take. And the point of view or the perspective you take, brings about it and asks that this is terrible or this is good or whatever. See, there's always two sides to the same coin. And that's how our minds function. As Shakespeare tells us, there's nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.
And see the way you think. It's either past or future. Pleasant, painful, happy, sad, loving, hating, positive, negative. Always vibrating in the interrelated opposites. And then we separate them. We don't like the bad, so we try and force that out. And we like the good. We want to keep more of it. Or put it the other way. We don't want the good. We want to like the bad. We're trying to divide the indivisible. And that's what we don't realise. There's no one end of the stick. Each stick's got two ends to it. And the good, or the thin end of the stick, couldn't be there without the thick end.
And the thick end couldn't be there without the thin end. It's the same with everything. There can't be one. There couldn't be day without night. There couldn't be silence without sound. Winter without summer. Past without future. Instead of dividing them, seeing they're both the same coin. No one-sided coin. And no, instead of trying to force one out and resist it, leave it as it is. And it might fly to that end and seeming about at the moment. But if you're not resisting it, leaving it as it is, it's going to come back. It's going to seek out its equilibrium. And that's what's necessary. But now, we're continually fixating on the good, not wanting the bad.
And the bad's there. We beat ourselves up. We'll beat somebody else up. But it's constantly transient. It will change. And it does change. Like there couldn't be day without night. The Earth's rolling around the sun right now. And this part that's facing the sun is daylight. The part that's behind us on the other side, it's dark. Does the Earth know anything about daylight or dark? Dark and light? It doesn't. But it's happening. And it's not changing. It's changing. It's changing. And it's worried about it. It's concerned with it because it knows. I don't want to say it knows, but there's an understanding. There's an understanding that it's certainly going to change.
It's not static. It's not dead. Also, again, looking from the other perspective, from the ultimate, because this is beautifully practical, what Bob says. Leave it as it is. Whatever you understand yourself to be. Leave it as it is. You understand yourself to be an ego individual doesn't matter. What's your story? Just leave it as it is, but looking from the ultimate perspective again There is a space and there is a reaction to a like or dislike Like and dislike as a pattern as a behavior pattern that belongs to the body mind But you are not the body mind if you recognize yourself that you are prior to the body mind Because when you go to sleep the body is not in consciousness and you still exist when your mind when the thinking stops You still exist so you are not your body mind you are prior to the body mind So whether the body mind reacts with likes and dislikes You step out from that reaction pattern and recognize that you are the consciousness in which it appears So from this perspective you don't even need to leave it as it is because you can't you don't have any power to to do anything as space But from the very very practical perspective the three words Bob's famous three words unaltered unmodified uncorrected because everything is transient and this is much more appealing to anyone who hears it because it is Ultimately practical and the most beautiful in this way And we have another comment here.
This is from our British Julia. I don't really understand what is meant yet by empty appearance Please could you explain it further for me many tanks Julia empty appearances? well the appearance are only seemingly appearing like a water in a mirage Like the blue sea See appears to be blue, but the water not blue Space is empty yet All this manifestation appears in space seemingly real but if it's As I say a cognizing emptiness and empty suffused with intelligence You know the pattern shapes and forms Are only appearances in it seemingly solid substantial, but every appearance can be broken down into subatomic particles into pure energy It's all vibrating patterns of energy And a beautiful way also to remember about the appearances is the mighty analogy to the night dream When we dreaming at night and the whole world appears in that dream and we have the body that is moving around climbing mountains flying having sex whatever the body is doing and The physical body is lying out in bed, and it's not moving and the eyes are closed and yet in the dream we can see everything so that that appearances are empty they are just within the cloud of the electrical impulses there somewhere on synapses.
And even that is a story of what it is. But they're empty. Would you like to say? No, it's about something else. It's about the topic you were talking earlier about resistance. One of my favorite quotes is Carl Jung, what you resist persists. I remember when I first heard that quote thinking, well, how do you not resist cancer when you have that? And then eventually I came to understand, well, what would be the opposite of resistance would be acceptance. So you could accept it that you have cancer. And then another way to put that opposite would be just loving or letting it be as it is, to me, is love.
But at the same time, I was just thinking about this. My head does that. It's thoughts about thoughts. But letting it be as it is doesn't really have an opposite. You know, it's not opposite so much to resistance, really. Even though at the same time it is, it's confusing. But, yeah, that's all. I was just babbling on about that. Well, it is. It's just as it is. It is. Not was or not will be. It just is. So it's taken the time concept of it, just as it is right in this spontaneous moment right now. And we have a couple of other comments here. Amanat says, there is infinite love behind hatredness.
Good point. And also, oh, it disappeared. There is no need of thinking at all. Yet thinking can happen without thinker. And also, Amanat replying to British Julia, dream and waking states appearances when you are within, but when you are without, only emptiness. So also emptiness is fullness. Fullness is with emptiness. Yeah, they can't be divided. Only conception. They can't be divided. You want to add to it? You want to add to it? They can't be divided only conceptually. Yeah. Yeah. Nothing either good or bad, but thinking . Okay. So anyone else? Questions, comments? Anything? I just want to hear you talk about love, Bob. Love.
Love. Just a small question. Because my religion is love. It's love. A small question darling, about love. As they say, God is love, the so-called God is love. If God is love, love must be God. And don't each and every one of you love to be? So that's what it says in Isaiah, be still and know that I am God. Be still and know that I am the love. The love of being, everyone loves to be. And it tells us in the end, when love and hate are both absent, take away both of them. Everything is clear and undisguised. But make the smallest distinction, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart.
That's when the sense of separation comes upon us. Not recognising the love that you are. It is always happening. Right here. In this present awareness. And it tells you, when you know that you are that living love, it says people will come to your door. In other words, people will sense it innately and come to where it's being cognised to learn more about it. Till they recognise and understand it themselves. There was a book that came out years ago, Love Can Open Prison Doors. It was written by a fellow who was locked up, never to be released. And all sorts of things happened in prison.
But suddenly he had a turnaround, a change. And made a total difference to everything. And he, never to be released, he got released. And he had thousands of people. He wrote several books. Thousands of people in America there. A big group going. Totally changed him and brought him around. And they had him in the prison when he was hanging with his toes just touching the floor. Hanging there all day. All those things giving him all the punishment in the world. Because he was very rebellious. But it can turn you around. Because life is love. There is only love. If it's life. Amarnath was saying, behind all that hatredness there is love.
That was in his comments. You are the love. You want to feel that. Can you? That's it. That's it. That's okay. She just wants it to be heard. That's okay. I'm finished. Yeah, she doesn't want anybody else to hear it. Okay. So I'll repeat it. So Jane was saying that Bob is love. And that's why we're at his door. And that's true. That's true for anybody. For anyone. And they're recognizing it. Yeah. Nisargadatta says love is life. And when I, what was it? When I'm nothing this is wisdom. When I'm everything this is love. So love is really everything. And as Amarnath says, behind hatredness is love.
Like why would you hate anyone if not for your protection of your own best interest? That's self-love. That's self-care. Every movement, every movement of energy is really an expression of love. Even though it might look horrible and might look like selfishness. But selfishness is also love. It's a love for self. That's how Nisargadatta called it as well. It just depends how you recognize the self. If you think the self is just one singular body, then of course that love is very, very limited. But when you recognize the self as the whole universe, then the love envelops the whole universe. Right. We take the male-female thing in, relationship in.
That's, people don't realize if they recognize that love, which is, that naturally brings them together. But if they go on conceptual images and beliefs, the partnership doesn't last very long. The natural joyousness of seeing, knowing. And recognizing that love. And it brings people together. There's a natural merging there. But we put different takes on it and get lost in the things we put on it. It's impersonal. It's natural recognizing of the essence that's in the other. When it is personal, it's not going to last very long. Because they'll have their concepts and you'll have your concepts. And you'll be finding fault all the time. But when it's non-conceptual, you know, what do you want of the others?
You just want to give. And what would they want of yours? And so when there's a natural givingness on both sides, where's the angst going to come into that? There is another comment from Amarnath. Non-conceptual awareness behind concepts. No mind behind the mind. Undivided behind the division. Comedy behind tragedy. Wordless, thoughtless behind words and thoughts. Beautiful. There's no behind. Yeah, it's just a word. We could say prior or we could say... Yeah. If we say it's behind, we think it's the wrong end of the stick. Recognize it just as the one stick. Yeah, how else can you say it? There is only love but no lover or beloved, Amarnath says.
What's he up to? Everyone is formless, infinite love and energy expressing as finite. Expression is also notion. There's this, I don't know, a common belief that people have. Regarding that nothing is good and bad, quote, or whatever. But there's a common belief that people have that God is good. And I just... There's this inner rebel in me that wants to kind of point out to those people who believe that. That this same God, like, because it's sort of a Judeo-Christian Islamic belief, right? This same God that you're saying created everything, created this angel they call Lucifer, the highest, most beautiful angel. Which would eventually become Satan.
Which would convince Eve as a snake to take a bite of the knowledge of good and evil. Okay? These opposites. Okay? To buy into these opposites. And all of the hell that would come about because of that action. But this good God created this evil thing knowing, or this beautiful thing knowing, it would in its apparent free will choose to become evil. And yet created it anyway. How good of him. Or how evil is that? Depending on how you look at it. So it's no good or bad. But I just think, I don't know. That thought just comes to my mind right now. That's all.
I'm just yammering on that. Let's focus. It says, in the beginning, God created everything. Did he create anything at all? That's separate from it? It tells you, in the beginning was the Word. The Word was with God. The Word was God. That's all that God is. Is the Word God. All things were made by him. By the Word. There was nothing made that was made without the Word. And anything in this room that's not made by the Word. Put the label on it. It's just that oneness. There's one essence, patterning, shaping, forming. And expressing as everything. And still only the everything. Not separate at all.
But we discriminate with the Word. And they tell you in the Hintzing Ming, the great way is not difficult. For those who have no preferences. When love and hate are both absent, everything becomes clear and undisguised. Without putting division on it. Leave it as it is. Just as it is. And it becomes clear and undisguised. But make the smallest distinction. However, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. Now if all these manifestations is created. It's all made up of words or labels we put on it. Without the labels. Try and separate yourself from any of it right now without the label. I'm not really sure.
I forgot what I was going to say. But there's, I don't know. Everything that you said. Everything that you're saying Bob is, it's like, I don't know, everything we're talking about. From Lucifer to, like, that's a story within our thought pattern as well. Like, and it's a story within, out within the manifestation that we're labeling. And none of it exists in any way. And even the two ends of the same stick. And the judgments and something we were talking about earlier about judging. And, um. Dividing. Those labels just drop. And then all that's left is just the love of being. And that is the love that you were talking about before.
It just, that's all there is. And if that's all there is. And then people get confused with these romantic notions of love. But that's just energetic patterns. The underlying love is the love. And then there's those, the other ones as well. The romantic ones or whatever you want to call them. But they're just patterns of energy. Just moving and people seem to be vibrating together in certain ways. Or, um, it's really, like, there's no problem with relationships at all. Like, because it's just, because the labeling and the judging stops. And the interrelation of people is like, I don't know, it's just fantastic. Even when it's shit.
Like, because that's just part of the whole show. Yeah. So. There's a lot of labeling still going on. Yeah. So, thank you. What is love, Bob? What is love? You said that before. Yeah, we said what is, yeah, yeah. You are love. Don't forget it. I want to record it. Okay, so you can do it after the meeting. Because now we have people, uh, yes, who are with us. And there will be people on YouTube also who will want to. He doesn't want that to be recorded. He doesn't want that to be online on YouTube. So he will ask his question when the meeting finishes.
Okay. So, um, I think that's it. Okay. So, um, I think that's it. Okay. So, um, I think that's it. Okay. So, um, I think that's it. Okay. So, um, we will record it. Okay. So, um, I think that's it. Okay. So, um, we will record it. Okay. So, um, we will record it. Okay. So, um, we will record it. So, um, we will record it. Okay. So, um, we will record it. Okay. So, um. No worries. No worries. I think it's related to the love portion as well. Okay. I think if, I'd like, I'd like to, um, cause you were talking a little earlier about like the different loves a little bit, you know, it sounded a little bit, and at least from where I was interpreting what you were saying.
You know? Yeah. There's a romantic love that we have, you know. And then there's the agape or this allowing what is. To me, I like to try to define it because for me to just call it allowing something to be or someone to be as it or they are without needing it to change, fix, alter it, correct it, just as it is, to me that's love. But the romantic, the kind, that's love too. But it's not, it's a different, it's somehow, I don't know. I know this is my mind differentiating it, you know, to say, well, that's a different love, that romantic love. But it does seem, I suppose without even a word, there's no difference, okay, in any of it.
That's just my mind differentiating it. And at the same time, for the purposes of explaining this or discussing it, it does seem to be a different kind of love. So to this mind. So-called romantic love is love expressing itself in natural life. If it's really romantic love without any false take or false belief in it. It's a natural bringing together of the life energy which is then going to express itself with more life. If it's functioning naturally, spontaneously. Sometimes it's just lust though. Yes, that's what I'm saying. Not to talk about the lust, I'm talking about the real natural love. We have a couple of comments here from people who are with us.
Leave it as it is, Bob. It is Amarnath quoting you. But there was few in love. Amarnath, great thanks a million, Bob, beyond and prior to division and non-division. That's prior to division and non-division. And then Julia says, today's satsang is like perfect valentines. And Ram says, love is nothing but love with the euro sign instead of E. And now we have Amarnath says, love is beyond words and thoughts or definitions. And a lot of icons and hearts. And Julia, romantic love is conditional. And Amarnath, love without hatredness in it is pure love. There is no pure or impure love. And the icons again. Yes, as Nisargadatta says, everything is expression of love.
And that includes selfishness. That includes the... Seeking love for wisdom. I see Jane, you're laughing. I'll actually find the original quote because that's one of my favorite. Where, obviously, Nisargadatta was talking about non-duality. So if he calls it love, everything's included. It's not that love and it's opposite. It doesn't have its opposite. But that is a real beautiful saying. He was answering a question whether love acts, deliberately, and he says yes and no. Love, life is love and love is life. What keeps the body together but love? That's selfishness. Feeding yourself. You don't feed other people, just the one body. And what is desire but love of the self?
You want things for yourself, including enlightenment or whatever it is. What is fear but the urge to protect? And what is knowledge? But the love of truth. And now he says the means and forms may be wrong. But the motive behind is always love. Love of the me and the mine. Always selfish love. The me and the mine may be small or may explode and embrace the universe. But love remains. Now what am I? Am I the body? Then the love is limited to the body. Am I the mind? The love is limited to protection of that and the desires of that. And even if my desire is to be a philanthropist and help the world, why?
Because I want recognition probably or something like that. Oh yeah, joy to contribute. Absolutely. That's a pleasure. Yeah, one or the other. Yeah. And if I am the totality, then the love embraces the universe. But love remains, he says. If everything is one, call it. Okay. Call it love. Call it God. Yeah, that's right. Hey, God is love. Love is God. Everything is that. Yeah. Separate it if you can. And hatredness, as Armanach pointed, hatredness is love and vengeance is love and judgment is love because everything is one. And love is movement. And Nisargadatta also pointed out, which seems like apparent opposite, when I'm everything, that's love.
When I'm nothing, that's wisdom. It seems like there is two now. Everything and nothing, love and wisdom. But they're not two. They're just two aspects of the one. Static and dynamic or stillness and movement or silence and sound. But they're just two aspects of one. And that resistance is love. Absolutely. The resistance is love. And at the same time, when I'm loving the resistance, the resistance doesn't happen anymore. It's interesting that that, that, that, that, when it's loved, the resistance doesn't. Love to be. Say it again, darling. You love to be. Love to be. Yes. And we have one more question here. No, that's actually not a question.
Tanya says, no question as the spiel and the wonderful questions and answers have silenced thought. Lots of leaving it as it is happening. Nothing is wrong or resisted. It is only thoughts that suggest suffering or a me. Thank you so much. Thank you, Tanya. Beautifully said. And Amarnath says, wisdom equals I am equals love. That's it for the... We try to discriminate it with the words. And we fail. Every time. Yes. That's the party time, Jenny. Yes. Yay! Yay! Yay! Yay! Yes. Party time, Jane says. And it is. It's actually time for party. So thank you, everyone. Thank you, everyone here. Thank you, everyone online.
And... Anyone, anyone who doesn't love to party. Everyone. Love to party. Yes.
