Our names, so I'm Pat, Julia, Gerard, Spencer, Cliff, Catherine, Frank, Susan, Dean, and Paul. Yes, seeing as a couple of yearbies here, we'll go through the old spell again, same old story. We can't teach you anything here, and we can't tell you anything. All we do is point toward and ask you to look to where we're pointing to, to see for yourself. Because when you ask what we're talking about, you'll realise that there's nobody who can teach you anything, and nobody can tell you anything. And it's not something new that we're talking about. If you look into some of the great traditions, or religious traditions, or all the rest of them, you'll find that's all we're talking about, the same essence of patterning, shaping, forming, expressing, and appearing as everything.
Another way we put it, another way we put it, talk it, put it, is not speaking to any body. I'm not speaking to any mind. I'm not speaking to that body, mind, identity. You believe yourself to be. I'm speaking to that I am, that I am. And realise what the I am is, it's a sense of presence. Each one of you will recognise you are present and aware right now. The sense of presence expresses through the mind as the thought I am. Just to this, to nothing else. So there's nobody speaking to anybody, just them all happening. In Hinduism, for instance, they call it Advaita.
Advaita means non-duality. And they try and describe non-duality by saying it's one without a second. One without a second is not two. And if it didn't start with one, there couldn't be a two. Buddhism, they'll call it the great perfection. And they give it to you in one sentence there. The great perfection is non-conceptual awareness. Awareness without any thoughts or any concepts on it. Not two. And all the other religious traditions I've pointed out. Hebrews say, Hear, O Israel, the Lord thy God is one God, there is nothing other. Not two again. Christians and others will say it's omnipresence, omnipotence, omniscience. Omnipresence means total presence.
Omnipotence is total power and omniscience is total influence. Omnipresence means total presence. Omnipresence means total power and omniscience is total influence. Omnipresence is intelligence. Total. Absolute. It's only absolute. This manifestation is absolute. It's only absolute. This manifestation is absolute. But we've divided it up into concepts, patterns, shapes and forms. But we've divided it up into concepts, patterns, shapes and forms. And lost sight of our true nature. That's what needs to happen. Investigate and see for yourself. Another thing we point out is the false cannot stand up to investigation. is the false cannot stand up to investigation. Another one is know the truth and the truth will set you free.
What are you free from? Free from the belief that you are this person. Where does person come from? It comes from the Latin language persona, the mask. Meaning we've got this conceptual image or a mask of what we believe ourselves to be. I'm an Australian, I'm a good boy, I'm not so good, or having a bad trot, or I'm unhappy, or I'm fearful. They're all added onto that sense of presence which translates or expresses through the mind as the thought I am. And that I then becomes another way for putting it as me. So that sense of presence is divided up into these seeming separate entities, the individual, the person.
But there's nothing separate in this manifestation. It's all the one essence, there's patterns, shapes and forms, experiences, expresses and everything. And you can only be that if you're not separate. And that's the great mantra or the Mahavaka they tell you in the scriptures, I am that. And when you look at that you see that everything is that. Innately you know it. Because they say that's the chair you're sitting in, that's the room you're in, that's the tree outside, that's the flower, that's the bird, the volcano, everything. Everything is that already which we put words on. Now how many words are we born with? You can't say you were born with any words.
So you can't remember your birth. You say I was born but your parents told you or somebody told you and put the name form on you. And we've taken the name and formed the persona to be real. But is the person or the persona, is it real? If you haven't got those words on it, what are you? There's an awareness of presence there. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person. Being present with the person.
And they describe that Advaita into the five factors of Hinduism. Sat, Chitta, Nanda, Nama, Rupa. Sat is existence. Chitta is consciousness. And Nanda is loving to be or the bliss of being. And they say the other two factors, Nama, Rupa. Nama is the name you've been given and the form is the body through which it's all expressing through. And they say name and form are Maya, meaning they're illusion. So all this manifestation is illusory manifestation which we take to be real without, because we've never questioned it, never looked at it. So we need to look at those things. Are you this body? Are you this mind?
Innately you know you're not the body because you say my body, my mind. Just the same as you say my coat, my car, my house. You know you're not the coat, the car or the house. Maybe you're not the body either when you look at it. The same with the mind. You say my mind. Maybe you're not the mind. When you investigate you'll see you're not so. What's this body made up of? You're really a body made up of elements. Air, earth, fire, water, space. That's what the elements are all around you. Try and separate How long? Stop breathing. Take the air out of your body, see how long it lasts.
Take the water. Your body's 60% water. Take the fire, the body temperature. If that body temperature wasn't there, as soon as you had hypothermia, then die. Get off the earth, get out of space. You can't. So when you question it, you realise you're not separate from these elements. What about the mind? You believe you are this mind. But show me a thing called mind, if you can. When you look at it, you can't show me anything you call mind, except thought. And are you a thought? If you're a thought, which particular thought are you? What's thought after all? Thought is a concept. What concept? How does that express in words?
What are words? Words are sounds. What's sounds? A vibration. What's a vibration? A movement of energy. So the earth and all this manifestation and everything in it is just vibrating patterns of energy. And it's not separate. It's all the one essence, patterning, shaping, experiencing, expressing as everything. And you can only be that. So you must be that. How does all this work? How does all this come about? You take yourself to be a human being. But it's the one being expressing and patterning, experiencing everything. And you call yourself a human being. And if you believe in a god or a higher power, you'll say the supreme being.
Well, separate that beingness if you can. Take the supreme off it and take the human off it. Separate the beingness without those words. And you realize that's being a chair you're sitting in. It's being the carpet on the floor. It's being the room. It's being the sky outside. It's being the trees. It's being the flowers. Everything is that pure being, which we've separated with the words. Now how many words were you born with? And you realize you weren't born with any words. But yet you were living quite well without the word. You didn't pick up any words until you were about two, three years old.
Two and a half, somewhere around that age, when the capacity of reasoning developed in you. Prior to that, you were learning words. You didn't start to learn words until you were about two, two and a half. And your parents fussing you around. They told you you're Little Billy or Little Johnny or Little Jane or whatever your name might be. And you're a good girl or you're a good boy or you're whatever. And then learned other words like I or me. So then you took that I. Which is the sense of presence, which translates as the thought I am. You took that sense of presence to be me, this persona, this mask.
Comes from the Latin persona, the mask. And we've got this conceptual image or mask of concept. We've encapsulated ourselves and taken ourselves to be this separate entity, this individual, this person. And you didn't learn words until you were about two, two and a half. When the capacity of reasoning developed you. Now that capacity of reasoning is very useful. But it's also self-destructive. Because when it tells me in the belief in the word that I'm no good or I'm unhappy, I'm fearful, I'm anxious or depressed. All my psychological problems come about from this capacity of reasoning. I take myself to be a good boy or a bad boy or unhappy or sad.
They point out it is non-conceptual awareness. Awareness without any concept. Now that sets you at an end. And an arm of ruby. The sun, the name of form. Existence. Anyone who is not existence right now. Not existing right now. No, you say I'm existing. Anyone who is not conscious or unaware right now. No, you're conscious and you are not unaware. You are aware. Anyone who is not happier to be. So instead of trying to become, we take on the sense of separation. Which brings about insecurity and vulnerability. Instead of trying to take on. Realize if you're existing. Right now you're conscious and you're happy to be.
You must be already that. As we pointed out earlier. That's the great mantra. I am that. That is what you are. You're not the mask. Or the persona, the concept. So people take on the search. They've got to become spiritual. They've got to realize this God or higher power. Or existence. These. Get away from the persona. And realize or recognize. Get liberated. Or free from this conceptual image. And as I say. When we start to learn the word. The capacity of reasoning develops in us. And that capacity of reasoning is a very useful capacity. But it's self-destructive also. Because we take the capacity of reason to be me.
A person. A person. A person. And we've learned all these words. And realize that the words. Every word you've ever spoken. Or ever liked to speak. Has been picked up along the way. It's not your natural state. What is your natural state? It's that pure being. Pure knowing. Pure loving to be. Existence, consciousness. Not the concepts we put on it. When you look at the word. And see that the word. Is the word. Is not the real. Taking on all those words. We think the words are real. I am Bob. I am this. I am that. But it's not. And take the word water. Can you drink it?
Take the word fire. Does it burn your mouth? Or can you cook with it? You can't. So this word I. As I say. Is a conceptual image. It's just a pattern. And what's wrong with right now. If you don't think about it. If you're not pushing. Putting any words on it. Can you say it's good? Can you say it's bad? Pleasant? Painful? Happy? Sad? Without the word? You can't. But when we're putting the words on. We're dividing it up. And the sense of separation comes upon us. And with that sense of separation. The capacity of reasoning develops. With that sense of separation. Comes insecurity. And vulnerability.
And then we've taken on this pattern. And I'm. Taking on the belief that I am this person. And I'm. I'm not. I'm not. I am this person. And the little child doesn't know. What that is. He realizes. I am this little Johnny they're talking about. And he looks out there into nature. And he hasn't learnt words for that then. And he doesn't know what it is. So he feels insecure. And vulnerable. And then. He takes on the. His belief that this word is real. And he says I'm not little Johnny. Or I am little Johnny. And he looks over there and he says, that doesn't fit little Johnny.
He hasn't got any words for that. So that's not me. That's not I. With that sense of separation comes that insecurity and vulnerability. And that's when the search really starts. Because we're becoming, trying to become whole or complete. And realise again that becoming is not being. Becoming implies a future time. And if you investigate that and ask yourself, is there a past if I don't think about it? And what can you say without a thought? You can't say there's a past or a future without a thought. But yet, until it's questioned and investigated you'll say, I was in the past. But try and live a moment ago.
Try and live yesterday. You realise you can't live a moment ago, you can't live yesterday. So you can't. Live in the past. You can recall the past, but you can't go back and live it. You can only recognise it in the recollection of it, and that'll be a memory now. So you can't go back and live it. You can recall it in that recollection. If you're not recalling the past, if you're not, you can't tell me what you thought of a minute ago now, unless you're recalling it. It's already on, it's already finished. The same with the future. Can you anticipate and imagine the future?
You can't. You can't live in the future, but your anticipation and imagine can only happen as an anticipation or imagining. You can't live in the future. So we've taken on this idea we are time bound, but when you question it, you see a lot. It's always just absolute right here and now. Everything is absolute. Nothing can be added to it. Nothing taken away from it. And have a look at this thing you call mind again and see how it functions. You'll see it's always vibrating. As a vibrating pattern of energy, it's always functioning dualistically. So it's either good or bad, pleasant, painful, happy, sad, loving, hating, positive, and negative.
Watch your mind and see if it functions any other way. In your eyes, it can't function any other way. Look at this so-called person. You've got a conceptual image of what you are, which is the persona or the mask. You've got a conceptual image of what you are. And you're constantly relating to this image. So all our problems are problems of relationship, relative to, not just the male-female relationship, but relative to my work, to where I live, to my education, my job, or whatever. All relativity. Relativity is dualism. And this manifestation is dualism. It's dualism. It's dualism. It's dualism. It's dualism. It's dualism. There's never been anything other than the Absolute, the Totality.
What can you add to the Absolute? Nothing. It wouldn't be Absolute. What can you take away from the Absolute? Nothing. It wouldn't be Absolute. Or, as they put it in Buddhism, they call it the Great Perfection. What can you add to the Perfect? Nothing. What can you take away from the Perfect? Nothing. But yet, they tell you that the Great Perfection is non-conceptual awareness. It's a point I had before. So what is it? I thought there's nobody who's unaware right now. Everybody is aware. And without any concepts on, you are the perfect, the absolute, the great perfection. But if we've taken on this belief we are separate, that's the cause of all our psychological suffering.
It's only me can be fearful. It's only me can be unhappy, depressed, guilty, jealous, envious. All our psychological problems come about from this sense of separation. We've believed we are this person. I am Bob, the Australian, the conceptual image. But we're told about all these religious traditions. You've got to become realized or liberated or free of all these beliefs and all that. But as I just pointed out, if you're not separate right now, you don't have to become any of those things. Because when you look at this life, life is living on life. And out of life, more life comes continually. And there is only life.
There is nobody who lives on life. So you are that life. You are that essence. You are that intelligence energy. You are not the person. You are not this. You are not from the reality. You are the essence. You are the self. You are the essence. You are the essence. And you are all self. You've got not no real relationship in it whatsoever. It's the one essence, pattern, shape and forming experiences, has everything. And you are that. How does that happen? Well, have a look in your body. You've learned words. You've taken yourself to be this person. That sense of presence translates and expresses through the mind as the thought, I am.
And as soon as you put, I am Bob, I'm the Australian, and all these other concepts on it, you moved away from it. the absolute into the conceptual image. But what's I am? It's just a thought, a word, a vibration. But it's a sense of presence that's vibrating and expressing as that thought, which we've learnt or picked up, as that thought I am. The sense of presence. And that sense is present. The I am-ness comes up in this presence. It's immediate right now. Can anyone say I am not right now? Or I am unaware? You know you're not unaware, so you must be aware. You're not absent, you're not here, so you must be present.
So you are already that. Instead of trying to become something which keeps you in the problem, take the stance already that you are already that essence. Look into it, investigate, realise it, recognise it, and start from the beginning. The fact that you are already that, the Buddha called it a cognising emptiness. It's saying it's all empty. This manifestation is empty. It's all pattern, shapes and forms. But it has the capacity of cognising or knowing. And we are cognising the emptiness, trying to get it to grasp the emptiness. And we can't because we're grasping the pattern, shapes and forms in which it seemingly appears. But when he tells you that you're not aware, you're not aware.
It's the cognising emptiness that's doing the cognising. And you are that emptiness. And the emptiness is form. And the form can be nothing other than the emptiness. Pointing out again, it's all that one essence that's dividing or repairing pattern, shaping, form into the many. But you're already that. See how that manifests in your body, expresses. You've learnt all these words. You put these labels on yourself. I'm body, am I above the good boy or the bad boy, unhappy or sad, or I'm fearful or anxious. All the psychological problems come about because of that. Now, you're thinking right now, and the thought comes up, I think.
Something comes up and you realise, you put the label on I think. This is a tree, this is the flower, this is the chair, whatever. But thinking is happening. But can that thought I think actually think? Well, what's your next thought going to be? You can't tell me what your next thought is going to be. But thinking is happening. Thought will come up. But you're translated by the label or the word we've learnt, I think. Now, then, as soon as you say I think, you believe you are the thinker. That it is me that's doing the thinking. I think. I think. And I think. thought.
It's good or it's bad or it's unhappy or whatever the thought might be. It's a tree, it's a flower. The thought becomes the thinking. I think has come up. The thought becomes, the thought is what appearing in the thinking. So thinking has divided itself into subject, object. Dualism, thinker and thought. But you look at that, can there be a thinker, the thought without I think, the thought I think without thinking? Well put that to the test and see for yourself. Can there be a thinker without the thought I think? And can there be the thought without the thinking? So you see there can't be a thinker without thinking and there can't be the thought without thinking.
So they're not divided at all, only conceptually, only with the thoughts of the mind. The same with the seeing. You're seeing right now and you say I see. I see the chair, I see the room, I see everything. You've divided that into subjects, seeer and seen. But can the thought I see actually see? And you realise the thought can't see. So I see has become a conceptual thought. I see. I see the chair, I see the table. It's become the object, subject, object again. But can there be a seer? Can the thought I see actually see? Have a look and try it out. So seer and seen are contained in the seeing.
Can there be a thinker without the thought of the seeing? There can't be a seer without seeing. There can't be the seen without seeing. It goes from seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, thinking, feeling, the I-NG on it gives us something that's happening right in this immediacy. And the thought I see or I feel or whatever relates to the conceptual image. So the thought I see can't see, the thought I hear can't hear, the thought I'm aware is not your awareness, the thought I choose is not the choice maker. So the seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, thinking, choosing, feeling are all happening in the immediacy but translated by the thought into subject, object.
And it takes us away from the absolute where it's all the oneness into the seemly division too. And that's duality. Thinker and thought, seer and seen. And there's absolutely no duality in non-duality. It's all the one essence appearing, expressing as everything. And all needs a pattern. To express through. So that vibrating energy, the life essence in the body, enables those pattern shapes and forms to appear. If you think you are this human being, when did you begin? Are you the body? Are you the mind? I think I pointed that out before. You're not the body. You're not the mind. You say I began at birth.
But when did you begin? You can't remember your birth. It's only taken on board. We'll go back as far as your mother and your father and have a look and see that life essence in you. That intelligence vibrates as the pattern. As your father and your mother. Just as it's vibrating in the pattern you call you. In that life energy which is your father, it's through the prana, through the breathing and the food he's eating. That life essence in that pattern enabled in that pattern a little microscopic particle you can't see with your naked eye called a sperm deform. Now that sperm is a fuselage.
with intelligence energy, it knew what to do. And the same in your mother, that life essence, the pattern shape and form of your mother, enabled in that pattern another microscopic particle called an egg or an ovum to form. That ovum was suffused with intelligence, it knew what to do. It attached itself to the wall of the uterus. And the sperm knew what to do, it swam to the ovum, put it under a microscope, you see it has the capacity of swimming. And when those two patterns came together, what happened? Those genes came together, it followed the intelligence energy in those two, the sperm and the ovum, coming together, that's double, the life essence in it doubled that, doubled those two and doubled them again and again and formed the little embryo, the little fetus, which is what you are today.
But you've lost sight of that fact. And that's what's living you, beating your heart, breathing you, growing your hair and your fingernails, digesting your food, it's active in you right now, that life energy, constantly changing, it's transient, there's nothing steady about any of this manifestation. It's constantly changing. And it vibrates in the opposites, it's either good or bad, pleasant, painful, happy, sad, loving, hating. So, learned words come up, and you're going to be able to see that. And you take the word to be real, and you take on the belief that you are separate. I am Bob, this train, learned words, so I'm separate, and that's not me, that's not I, when you look out there.
We'll see how that works in your body. Something comes up, and you like it. Not realising that everything is transient, the whole manifestation is constantly changing, and your body is changing right now, constantly, ever fresh and ever new. Right in this moment. It's changing. We don't see that, so we take it to be static and real. Something comes up, and I like it. And you don't want the good things to go, you want to keep the good. So we don't like the bad, we want the good. Not realising being transient. It's changing right now, and ever changing and ever fresh. We don't want the good things to go.
So what do we do? We try to keep them there. We don't want them to go away. Try to keep it there. We don't want it to go not realising no matter how much you love them, how much you want to keep it there, it's going to change and you see that in your life if you look at it. It's constantly changing. So we're trying to keep it there. What do we do? We resist it from going. Try to hang onto it. And don't you realise resistance is conflict? Any resistance you are in, you're in conflict. And realise that any conflict you are in, resisting anything, makes you anxious, fearful, depressed, guilty, unhappy.
All the psychological problems come up with that resistance. And all that conflict going on makes you uneasy. Another term for uneasiness is disease. So there's resistance, conflict and disease going on all the time. We don't want the resistance to go on, the anxiety, the stress, the guilt. So if something comes up we don't like. When that resistance comes up we don't like it. Not realising that that is causing our problems, we're resisting and trying to keep it there. We're in resistance again, conflict again, and uneasiness. So that's what our life is composed of. And that's what we're composed of. Fear, anxiety, stress, guilt, shame, remorse.
Not realising the true nature where we can be free from all that suffering. So we get lost in it. So wouldn't it be wise to investigate and have a look and see if you are this separate entity, this individual, this person. Or go into it, look at it and recognise you're still in that true nature. So whichever way it goes on there's a resistance. Investigate that and see. So I need to investigate this me and see for myself whether it's a fact or not. There's any entity there that is resisting or in conflict or is a spontaneous functioning like the life that you are is spontaneously functioning.
You're breathing right now, you're breathing right now, your heart's beating, hair and fingernails growing, fur is being digested. All spontaneously happening, a spontaneous functioning. And the believed in me is the cause of my fear, my anxiety, my stress, my guilt, my shame and remorse that belongs to this so-called me or this I am-ness. It's the I am-ness that translates as the thought I or me and becomes the me. So it translates to see that this me, this persona is what I really am. And when it's investigated we say the false can't stand up to investigation and that's true. You see the false was false, you can't believe it anymore.
So belief, we believe this and believe that, we've taken on all these beliefs. But have a look at the word belief. The dictionary definition of belief is an unquestioned acceptance of something in the absence of reason. It means we haven't reasoned it out. We've taken a belief in what somebody's told us, our parents, our schools, societies, everybody's what? Told us you ought to believe this. And it's not the truth. The definition of belief is an unquestioned acceptance of something in the absence of reason. Acceptance of an alleged fact without positive knowledge or proof. When you investigate it you'll see that it can't stand up to investigation.
Are you unaware if you're not even investigating? You're not unaware. You're always that awareness. Present awareness. And all the concepts and thoughts, that's all they are. Mental concepts, the thoughts. So to become, investigate, that's what needs to happen. And recognise that you are that. Now a lot of us have had taste of this. We've taken on some of the beliefs that we've been told. We've taken on some of the beliefs that we've been told. We've taken on some of the beliefs that we've been told. Belief in a higher power, or a god, or something better than. And think we've got to become enlightened, got to become realised with that.
And so we set out on a so called path. Now who is it that'd take on this path? It's only the believed in entity me. That thinks it's separate, that's gotta become something. When the pure being is never becoming. It's always being. And being is the actuality. And so I try to become something. So I join, belong to some religion, or do some practice to trying to become something. But it says being can never be becoming. It won't happen. And we look in the mind. There's no such thing as mind or thought. It's just a vibrating pattern of energy. It doesn't belong to a me.
There's no such thing as a me, a person. Wouldn't that mean that if it's absolute, that you must be already that? And the search itself has become the problem. For it's only the believed in me that can become something. And when it's all happening, when you're seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling spontaneously, who or what is to become something? It's not. And becoming is already a thing. You're not becoming something. So you see, the net of me is the me. It's the cause of all my psychological problems. And the effects are the guilt, the shame, the remorse, the unhappiness, the fear. They're the cause of my sadness, fear, and unhappiness.
Me is the cause. And that's what so-called karma is. I got this trip on Australia. You're going to suffer karma and all the rest. What's karma? It's all karma is. It's cause and effect. What happens if I see that the cause, me, is a fiction? And ask the simple question, can there be an effect if I'm not relating to a cause? Well, you don't have to be a Rhodes Scholar to work that out. If I'm not relating to a cause, where can the effect lodge? And so we can be free of that so-called karma, where we beat ourselves up. So we beat ourselves up with the words.
The idea, I'm fearful, I'm anxious, I'm depressed. Put this conceptual image on us. It doesn't have to be that way. Spirit can never become matter. Matter is congealed spirit, like blood is liquid, and it congeals its sense. So matter has become that, but the spirit is the essence of everything. So spirit and matter will never separate at all. So we've got this idea that it's spiritual. While you're looking at that, you're separating it. You mightn't realize it, but you are. All conceptual. I'm thinking too well today. So I want some of you to recognize this. Some of you are coming to it for the first time.
Resonate. So you've got any doubts or questions, don't hesitate to ask. And those of you who have had taste of it, and you've all had taste of it throughout your life when everything's fallen into place and you went about it, tell us what you know, because others might hear it in a different way and might resonate with you. But it's yours. Get into it. Away you go. I have a couple of questions from people who are with us. Yep. Yes, I'll just give Bob some space for putting his hearing device and read the questions. Actually, they were not as much of a question as a nice self-resolving comment.
So it started from all the greetings and good morning, and then it went on to the next one. So it's a question. Greetings and good morning messages. And Amarnath asking, Bob, could you speak on obstructions of energy with separate center, energy manifesting as matter? We'll get back to it, if you keep on. And Julia, yes, too much distraction for the eye recently as we move back into lockdown. Any advice to keep in this knowing? Julia is from Perth, I suppose. That's what's happening there. And then Tanya says, Nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so. It is such a great pointer, helping recently to see through the belief.
The story goes, there was an eating disorder here and there was a belief that has been seemingly hard to see through, but it was seen that the food is not good or bad. So no need to fear. It is one of the last beliefs to see with that. Laughing out loud, not that there is anyone that has beliefs. It was great to not need help to see through this. I thank Bob and Kat a lot for the capacity to see through those things, although they are seen through all by themselves. No need to let go of them. They just disappear. No. No one letting go.
And Julia says, I just needed to listen to Bob and inquire again. I'm good again. So the question, before you even heard it, it got resolved through just listening. And there is just seeing, Tanya says, and wonderful. Listening and looking afresh is usually all that is needed. Glad you are good now. Lovely. And Amarnath highlighting what you were saying about resistance equals conflict, equals disease. And then disease is disease. Disease. Only seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, thinking, experiencing, thought overlays a story on that pure existing and only seeing. And finally another thought seemingly believing there is an I or me doing any of the natural functioning, Tanya said.
Amarnath highlighting and twisting the be calming. Just be. No need of calming. You can take that certain way, Tanya. Yeah. And I think that's it for now. I'll just double check. If we have any more questions. Thank you. And the more. Yes. More good morning messages. And then Julia has, you are cleverer than anyone, Bob. Do you mean you are not thinking well? What do you mean you're not thinking well? You said you're not thinking well. We all have no hope in that case. We love you. Simply there's no thoughts arising at the moment. Yeah. Yeah. Forgetting. Yeah. There's no one thinking or forgetting. It's just not no thought arising or.
And Tanya says you are only ever talking to yourself. There can be no shyness. There can be the thought that there is something to protect from others. And that may be why there is shyness. But there is no one. One without. There is no one here to protect. All is one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. All is one. One without a second. The love messages. From John and from April. And Rohan says oh dear Bob get your no mind out of the gutter. Rough. Rough. That's it for now. So please contribute.
Tell us who is going to throw something into. Okay. just give you this and I'll give you the Bob's pen so he can oh where is the end of it sorry just one second where is the the one that goes around it what do I hook it on yeah yeah I want to hook the microphone that used to have a little ears to put it on okay it doesn't that's okay I can start last week when we were having lunch I was having a conversation with Catherine about like what happens after we die and reincarnation that kind of thing and so I'm still you know because I I've always thought that there'd be some sort of continuation of what I perceive to be me on and on and on you know obviously not exactly like this but there'd be some sort of core piece of individuality maintained so I'm kind of sitting here with that sort of just noticing for example like how we are all essentially we're all the same but then we we appear so differently in our lives appears so diverse and and and you know I know that no two snowflakes are the same but there's a lot of things that we can do to make sure that we're not the same but there's a lot of things that we can do to make sure that we're not the same but there's a lot of things that we can do to make sure that we're alike and that they fall and melt and that's that and I just really don't like the idea that that's the case for me there is something wonderful about that immortality dream that idea that the eye which is such a wonderful intricate mandala made of so many beautiful aspects values that all intricate personality pattern is so gorgeous is so lovable so naturally with the appreciation for life you create the idea of heaven and hell in which you're gonna live forever all the reincarnation which is going to perpetuate it because you love the beauty of it you appreciate the beauty of it but without the story or even with the story of that mandala being swept off just like the snowflake mail melts isn't that even more profoundly beautiful because then it shows the urgency of the amazing of loving it only now because it's not going to last.
The immortality dream is as every other dream. It's just a beautiful, beautiful dream that is expressing love for the appearance. But if you see there is no future for that pattern to go on, now you rush to love and appreciate it. Now is the time. Anyone else would like to add to this because it is such an important coming back topic darling, could you? No? Realize you are life itself. Take the life out of that body, you've got a corpse. That corpse is going to break down and disappear. Where does it go? There's nothing you can postulate, can think of, can be outside of space.
So even when it seems to break down and dissolve into all sorts of... It'll still be the one essence because it's all the one essence. It's all life itself. And you are the life right now. See that body, it needs something to... that life needs something to express through. So it patterns, shapes and forms, all these different patterns, shapes and forms but they were never anything other than the life itself. Appearing as vibrations, as different patterns, shapes and forms. Try and postulate or think of something outside of space. Can you think of anything at all? So everything is... There's still that space-like awareness. Nothing can be added to it, nothing can be taken away from it.
Without that life, you're a corpse. That's the end of it. As far as the body's concerned. But as I say, it's all gone back into space. The ashes or whatever, or the bones and everything, they'll rot down. And fill the space. Just like the river, the water will finish up in the ocean. And you'll never get the same drop of water out of the ocean again. So you'll never... never get the same pattern, shape and form. And the pattern, shapes and forms will still appear to be. But like, it's not the same drop, it's still water though when it comes out as a drop. It's composed of so-called many or everything.
Nothing can be separate. So, you, the actuality has never been born, it can never die. You are the life. That's what Christ told you, I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. Not talking about himself, he's talking about that sense of presence. Which translates through the body as the thought, I am. That's the way, that's the truth, that's the life. So if you investigate the I am-ness, as Nisargadatta tells you, you stay with the I am-ness, which is the sense of presence. If you're not, anyone not present right now? And anybody unaware? Well right here, right now, as you're thinking about when you're not going to be here, as a course, you still have presence awareness.
Wait, wait, wait, keep... Let's have the... Have the speakers... Oh, it's too far to reach. One moment, no, no, no, it's alright. Oh, technology. It's only a short comment, but it, I was just going to say, what you talk about is only a problem to the mind. You know, you are the... The problem? Yeah, yes, you are the problem, but projecting that future, it's... We talk about it's ever-present, you know, it's all presence, like it's all what you are intrinsically is that, and the mind creates all these images about yourself, and really all you let go of is the imaging in a way, because... And you let go of that when you go to sleep at night, and you dream, you might dream about this image of yourself, but it's not what you really are anyway.
So, really, it's just a whole lot of images that come and go, and that all presence, that timeless, spaceless awareness is what you really are anyway, that you know so intimately. And I think, Susan, what you're grappling with is, is that you're not just a person, you're a person of the mind, and you're a person of the mind, and you're a person of the mind, and what you're grappling with is that concept of reincarnation, isn't it? You know, because that's been told to us, that there's an idea of reincarnation in the Eastern tradition, and we take these concepts seriously, as though it's there as a fact, and in the Christian tradition, like Bob said, it's heaven and hell.
So, in the Eastern tradition, it's reincarnation. You know, if you're good, you're reincarnated. If you're bad, you're reincarnated to a better life. If you're bad, you're reincarnated to a worse life. And that's just the mind, how the mind operates, positive and negative. And I think it was the priests in both traditions, or all the traditions, that brought these ideas in. The original insights from the seers themselves didn't have any of those concepts. It's just that perhaps over the years, they've built up, and people have not questioned them. And I think, as you say, that the idea of the me totally being annihilated is confronting. And that's what the whole inquiry is here, is to inquire into what we really are, and to see the truth and the false for what it is.
Regardless of whether you're coming from a Christian tradition or an Eastern tradition, one thing I've never heard anybody, really define is a spatial boundary. Okay? Which I think Einstein said was an illusion, time and space, right? So there's no spatial boundary. It appears that way, that there's definitely a spatial boundary. But when you see a corpse, it's really good opportunity. You know, whew, wow. You know, to see there's something not animating, something not there. But it's full of bacteria that's animating. Yeah, yeah, the bacteria is animating. Yeah, that's animating. And whatever is breaking it down is animating. But whatever, it just seems void of something.
Like something's missing. You know what I mean? And yeah, there's definitely... I think it's a human-centric idea, you know, that the body goes and then I go. Like, you know, we're all very human-centric in the way we look at the world. It's okay, that's all. I just want... She said it's a human-centric idea. But it's a human-centric idea that the body goes and I go. And the way we view the world... Because we see ourselves as a body. Right. And when you see that the body is not what you are, and that's so, for me, my experience, like, anyway, when I saw my father's corpse, you know, it was like, that's not him.
You know, it was just such a strong knowing. I don't... You know, like, just, like, whoa. That's not him. You know. And if that's not him, then that's just a shell. Then this is not me. And if this is not me, then I can maybe put my hand near yours and not even touch you and you can feel energy. Right? So what is the spatial boundary then to where I stop and where I start? And if there's something that, like, you can reincarnate forever, can't you? Right? Like forever meaning a billion years into the future that doesn't exist. Right? And you can be in heaven or hell.
Forever a billion years into the future that doesn't exist. So if there's some future billion years from now that doesn't exist, like, no end to that, then how could there be a beginning? Where you started. There's a you that started. And there's no spatial boundaries. I don't know. It was just something that occurred to me once that, oh, wow. You know, and all the religions, they don't really... It's something they left out of the picture. Oh, yeah, you reincarnate or... Well, what's the problem? What are the properties of that? What is the spatial boundary of that? What is it? Where does it... And it doesn't have any.
And you see people, you hear stories anyway about people who've had these... Bob makes the point. It's a near-death experience. It's not a death experience because the only thing that's dying for a moment is a me. Right? Okay? And you rise, but people come back with a report about what happened and they see that there's a rising above a body and it's not them. They see a body. They see what's happening in the room. They see the doctors fussing about. They see the fly on the wall. They see the clock. They see all kinds of things. There's a seeing. There's a seeing. But there's... I don't know.
There's a knowing also that it's all good. It's enlightening. Everybody who's had that experience, from what I've heard, not everyone, but people who... Many people who remember it come out of that with like, oh, wow, it's all good. You don't have to worry so much anymore. It's okay. You know? Anyway, that's my two cents. Do you want to add something? Yeah, Bob has something. What did you say? I don't know. Just... I don't know what to say. When you were saying the body and the ego... The body what? The body goes and he goes. The I goes. Yeah. I go... Ego... Ego when I go.
Yeah. Ego is when I go or I go when he... Ego is that I go. Ego is when I go. But the few things I wanted to just highlight that were said by Bob first and then by Catherine and by Julia, that is quite important in the origin of the idea of reincarnation or origin of the idea of survival or eternal existence, any sort of eternal existence. It comes from the intuition that we have to have the idea of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being, of being.
It comes from the intuition that life doesn't die. Bob said it first and then in different ways you ladies highlighted the same aspect. Life doesn't die. When the body dies, the life doesn't die. Let's do the experiment and switch off the light for a moment. Yeah, where is the... Why is the globe going? It didn't die. The light is back on again, or when we blow it off completely, the light incarnates the electricity, the power incarnates into other globes or into other parts of the body, equipment that when the power is switched off there is no death but when you switch it on again is it reincarnation we could say the life incarnates into forms but this is also incorrect because this is a good pointer this is a valuable pointer but really there is no two life and the form are not two things like there is a dead form and then life comes and brings it to life no the one the life animates makes form of itself just like ocean make a wave of itself so it's not that there is a wave and the ocean makes it alive no but it's a good pointer to say that life is something that never dies the potentiality or the energy never dies and it creates forms so the same essence the same life or the same energy creates gives itself this body and then it goes back to the ocean like Bob says the drop goes back to the ocean and then it creates itself a different body the body of the star of the Sun the body of the dog the body of Bacchus bacteria but it isn't reincarnation per se because it is only one so it is not that this part of the body or this fraction of the energy incarnates to a different body because the energy doesn't yeah it's like Bob says it's just energy but it doesn't die the immortality dream is a fact on the level of identifying of finding out or dropping of the identification with the form and finding your own true nature as the pure life of pure energy and this like Buddhist are saying you are a mother and a father of every sentient being and every sentient being is a mother and father of yours because there is no separation you are connected with every sentient being and they are possibilities and even Mr Gadada was encouraging people to actually try that little experiment with touching the finger and a thumb and now incarnate to the thumb this is you and this is it so you are experiencing it you you are this and experiencing it now do the other one you are this experiencing that you see you can do the mental experiment and assume identity of the form how about assuming an identity of the form of a tree you can do that I tried that it was great fun because the being ultimately experience of being is tasteless it doesn't have any flavor color shape form nothing experience of being a rock experience of being a son is just pure plain sensor sensory less experience you could try with the fingers or you can assume identity of any being and it is going to be the same the coloring the personality the way it expresses the being looking through the eyes become seeing the being looking through the ears becomes hearing the being becomes action functioning hair growing whatever that pure being reincarnates into different ways of expression it reincarnates or incarnates one could say because the re is incarnates again it just incarnates one is no again because it's only this moment it incarnates into thinking into thoughts into feelings into experiencing all of it and how magnificent because it is all you every single everything behind the whole dream every world is a reflection of you is not separated by you you close your eyes the world is gone part of you is gone you can't see yourself when you close your eyes but you open it ah that's the reflection of me that's what I am because you are everything so that's really really dropping up the dropping of the idea of attachments to the me to the individual imagined self being a conglomeration of past memories and traits of personality that they told you you are whatever a Scorpio acquire use and oh yes this is this is me now this is just temporary costume dropping the idea of being a temporary costume and finding out that oh my gosh I can wear any costume I can experience myself see myself in every reflection they'll have to be attached to this one but being attached to this one as I said before it's love for its appreciation of the form because they are all amazing they really are.
They are really amazing. Dean? Are you okay? Yes? Oh all I want to add to that was when you were talking about the electricity Yes It's the one generator that's expressing through all the blue poles Yeah the one source that's what I was heading at that you suggested firstly like ocean and the drop It's the one generator different different sources Yeah Different different different globes So that's what the pattern shapes and forms are different Yeah in terms of the question like from my own like experience as long as there was a personality the question come up and all kinds of questions like that but then something happened and that started to just disappear and then everything that Kat was saying becomes the most fascinating thing in the world.
So attention there's no need for that question to arise because there's something absolutely more magnificent happening in this immediacy and fascination and attention is absolutely absorbed by this immediacy so the question is still there and it's fun and whatever but it's so irrelevant to the immediacy because the immediacy is just fantastic. Yeah. Immediacy is important because basically it's the mind. It's the mind that you know Bob Spiel is all about really understanding the mind because the mind is the me and time and the immediacy Dean I think is important because usually there's relevance given to the mind and thinking because we're very removed from our environment especially we're removed from nature and we've become very much hedonistic people where we're thinking intellect is very important and so there's a lot of.
Space a lot of percentage of our time is given to our minds and that's the dualistic that's where dualism appears to be so because that's the nature of language we can only talk relativity in relative terms that is what language is and so that's where the problem starts where we give so much attention to the mind and we're all in our own little cocoon of mind. And I think this is where the vigilance. Yeah. And earnestness has to come in where well you know there's the mind going on about me and me suppose of me and then that's where the problems arise and so then to give attention to all the senses rather than focusing in on the mind it brings everything back to kind of a harmony because we have to think but then we've got all the other senses operating and usually they're given short.
You know we don't sort of attend to what's around us all the time but we're always constantly relating things to me and the other. And I think that's where the work lies if you want to call it work you know not that you're actually doing anything it's like the you know seeing through and seeing what Bob's pointing to realizing you know what the belief is compared with what the reality is of our lives. Yeah. And then seeing that in our own life and realizing when we get into the head and to the me the center of the me which is all a fiction and really seeing that seeing through that in our own lives.
Is that right Bob? Sorry. That's all right. Yeah. I just might I'll just tell a little story that might have some relevance as years ago when my son was about five years old we're walking in the country and the we came across a dead bird and he was sort of having a kick at it and looking at it and then got very silent and we're walking along for a little while and suddenly burst into tears and he said Dad I don't want to die. And I said I said Harry you won't die. I said before you were born were you dead or have you always been here.
And he thought about for a second. He looked up with his eyes closed. He looked up with this look of wonder on his face and he said I've always been here. And then he was perfectly happy and off he went and he never talked about it again. Oh that's beautiful. I was just going to share with you a question that Bob gave me once that I really loved. What is eternity. When does it begin. Does it begin now. When does it end. Now. So when. What. When. Can you say a whole lot about now without a thought like now like this immediately like if you think that the past like really is a pointer I got from elsewhere but I liked it that the past if you think about it like you can win an Olympic sport by a thousandth of a second right.
And so by the time I say what and now it's over. So the past is less than a thousandth of a second ago and the future is less than a thousandth of a second from now. So any thought that you might have. About what was or what could be. How much can you say about what is this eternity. That that this and it is like he said when you get into it when you just start to enjoy wow you don't need to. Have a sense of me that stays the same. Insecurity it refers to that wants the reassurance that that it won't end. And I would say desperate to get rid of itself at the same time.
It is a peculiar way that loving to be is expressing because me is not real. And it's still even though is completely imagined to existence is completely like a beautiful example of the Maya because nobody ever found the me. So it doesn't exist and yet it is believed nobody found the rainbow and yet we say it exists. And everything else is the same. The reality of it. The reality of everything is empty. Nothing stands of its own but it still loves to be even though everything that is empty is the loving to be the ananda aspect is yes this is beautiful. I like what why not.
I mean if you if you really don't mind if you give it a space to be and you love it into existence it's not you anyway. It's just another form is just another pattern. Let that me be and you may find out that oh gosh what a rainbow. But we have something really nice really beautiful. Here from I didn't read it but it always comes beautiful from Brett greetings Bob and Kat. At what point do we leap from crumb crumbling cliff of concept and free fall towards freedom. When do we stop waiting through words and dissolve into the perfection of patterning say without speech speak without saying.
The sound of the words. The sound of the words. The sound of Bob is the sound of mountains the wind and the willow. Many blessings. How beautiful is just so thank you. Thank you Brett. What point. There's no point. Yes that's the point. That's the point of the poem. And now we have from John. This is a quote from Henry Miller. Sex is one of the nine reasons for reincarnation. The other eight are unimportant. Brilliant. Sex is one of nine reasons for reincarnation. The other eight are unimportant. And now we have. Tanya. Wow. That's so beautiful Brett thoughts and concepts still appear here. They are noticed to be just thoughts concepts.
That's all that needs to be seen isn't it. Absolutely. Yeah. Let them be. They love to be. Let everything what is be. I mean who who are you to argue with reality space doesn't argue it lets everything be and you are the space. So let everything be not that it takes any action to let be or let go. It doesn't is the non action. And Bill says beautifully said cut. Oh that was probably to the previous one and John David again. Nisargadatta countered the idea of reincarnation by a very simple way. He said. Reincarnation by asking how he got his first birth. That's a really good point to contemplate upon.
Yeah. Beautiful. And Julia says so profound and gives us a heart and Tanya only a thought says there should be less thought concepts and thoughts are spontaneously appear and that doesn't mean there is a separate entity. separate entity. This is what seems to be true. There is a thought that there is more to see or something to be seen more clearly. What needs to be seen? As nicely said Tanya when she says there is a thought that there is something more. Yes that is just a thought that there is something more. If you don't believe that thought you look around and you have the totality.
What else you need? What more do you need than totality of this present, this timeless moment of now? What more? What needs to be seen? That's it. That every desire and every doubt is just a passing thought and the eternity stands before your eyes regardless of the content. Yes that's the same one. And mud like water appears to become solid and condense and turns into ice. The body in reality is nothing more than condensed emptiness appearing as a solid separate thing. There is no actual body just like there is no actual ice separate from water. Water remains water even as it takes on the form of ice.
Emptiness remains as emptiness even as it appears to be a body. There is nothing other than that. At a certain point, even that which we appeared to negate, body, mind, etc., is experience as also being the self. Beautifully said Matt, absolutely. This is what you were hinting at when you were mentioning that you know the congealed spirit. The emptiness is form. Yes and Amarnath, beautifully beautiful cut sensory, lesson! being being simply superb thank you and another one from Matt we the wave is always water it does not need to stop being an individual expression of the ocean to realize its its essence is water and one with the totality the wave is a moment of the entire ocean and is an expression of water that's it beautiful and I think there is something more coming up but I'll have to just check the screen I'm just stealing the screenshots yes we got some we got something Oh Richard there oopsie is it gonna disappear no Richard there are long periods of no thought appearing here this is commonly accompanied by the experience of an emotion free nullness or an underlying emotion though joy is not so commonly one of them it seems to me that emotions are far more fundamental and entrapping or binding than thought when it comes to our awaking thought seems to be neither here nor there in the scheme of things and now bill is answering the form and the formless merge become one in the immediacy of cognition this immediacy is ever present but we take the thought that that otta here the beauty of the moment appears to be lost with trying to figure it out so true and tanya says thank you god i was going to write that something more to be seen is just a thought but you put it so beautifully and william bill take a moth throw itself into the fire and experience the immediacy yeah so was there a question anywhere i'm just looking yes would you like to comment bob or answer richard on the fundamentality of emotion the way emotion may come first sometimes the thought triggers emotion sometimes the emotion triggers the thought sometimes there is energy movement just the energy you can call it feeling you can call it emotion you can call it whatever and the narrative translates it into the story that there is let's say the feeling they're bubbling in the system and the narrative looks around oh what's wrong here oh whether okay oh this is all because of the rain oh whether it's fine okay what else then oh my boss my boss doesn't like me so this is this is how it doesn't is this is how unimportant how insignificant it is whether the thought is first or the emotion is is first or whether the narrative is there or the narrative is absent it doesn't matter it's just a distraction thought emotion feeling the just whatever shows up in the space and finding out and recognizing they're just passing phenomena you give them all the attention they crave for and it's not even a choice the attention goes there if there is a if the emotion is disturbing or there is a pain emotion goes there the attention goes there but not all of the attention if there is any attention left to recognize that presence in which everything happens that's hard there is no observances there is only an наша and or a there are only!, so yeah there is nothing but it's that or it's a and experience the immediacy.
Why not? Just, yeah. Just die into that sense of self. Like who was that one, Paul or someone who was saying dying daily to the sense of self, dying to the me? That's the only death that is ever to happen. It's not even death because once you realize that me has never been real, it never existed. It has been born through the act of belief in the conceptual image that has formed when you had enough of story. Like a year old child has few words, two years old has few more words, and then two and a half has enough words to create a little tale about itself.
And then it can actually comprehend the pointers that they say, oh, you are this body. How convenient. Like imagine not having a name. This is convenient. It's beautiful. But again, getting lost in that little story of identification backfires. It creates the, suffering. And it creates the trap. And without that trap, there would be no awakening. So it's perfect. I have two children. I like to think of myself as a good mom. And then when all these little things show up, it's, well, no you're not. You're kids at home alone. What kind of mother? And you can go into that. But if I, it helps to, no, I'm not a mother.
That's an idea. Right? You know, I'm still going to do the best I can to be, to play out the role or whatever. But if I'm not buying into it, somebody calls me a bad mom. You're right. Whatever. It doesn't matter. You know? Or you're wrong. I don't, it doesn't matter. You know, whatever they think. That's what came to me in the conversation before. Like really that requires letting go of all those family relationships because it's not, they, you know, it's not, you know, it's like, it can't go on. You know, it's limited to here and now. And then when one of us dies, that's it.
Yes. Love them now because you may not have any more time later. But, and I see what you're saying with the idea of letting go. But really nothing's required because there is no doer. So you can just, the recognition down on you in a way like, yeah, like, like, like a sun. Between the clouds. It doesn't, it's not through the conscious doing. It's not through the investigations. It's not through any action of the non-existent individual. So, but yes, absolutely love them when you can. Because one day it's just like this. The mandala is gone. And even if you believe they reincarnate as a little baby somewhere in some village in Nepal, so what?
And come at the end. And yeah. Some of the reincarnation stuff, it's, it's kind of a lovely belief I like to buy into. It did come back to bite me though, once, which I won't go there now. But what would be interesting to explore is how many people have been King Henry VIII in their last lifetime. To do a little online survey. Who was told by a psychic or a medium or has a memory of being this famous king? I wonder. You know. Anyway, that's all. I just love that, that when the mandala collapses or disperses, it's just, yeah, it's, I can feel it inside me.
I can feel the, just the . Yeah. Thank you. You reincarnated it all the time. Like constantly. It's like. Into every thought. Every thought, yes. Every time you think you reincarnated as. And. Another thought, another way. Yeah. From Amarna says thank you all from no one to everyone and a lot of beautiful hearts and icons and Tanya says life is ordinary and extraordinary. There is being no me life. There being no me life goes on as usual. No fire works, but so beautiful. Thank you for this beautiful question. Thank you for this beautiful meeting. Have a lovely day and love to all. Thank you. Yes, so we started getting thank you messages, so perhaps it's time to maybe consider Sofia and some nice food for lunch.
Yeah, or anyone would like to add something or wrap it up or we're done. Add perfection to perfection. Cheers. From the perfect to perfect. Only the perfect remains. Have a beautiful day everyone who can't go with us to Sofia and off we go. Bye. Thanks, Kat. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
