put it up there, but I'll work that out sometime. Yeah. Hi Wendy. Hi Bob and Kat. Hey. Hey. Happy birthday. Thank you. May you have a hundred more. Yes. Or whatever. Yeah, I don't know whether I want that many. No, okay. Whatever you want. Whatever you want. We do want to celebrate his 100th. We've agreed on this one. We do want to celebrate. Oh good. Yeah. Yeah. What a great thing that would be. Yes. And get a letter from the queen. If the queen's still around then she's all right. Yeah. Good point. Good point. Have a good one. From Charles. Megan. Good as that. Yes.
Yes. Mm-hmm. Happy birthday, Bob. Why is somebody sideways? Hi, someone sideways. Who's sideways? Hey Stephen. Hey my name's Stephen. Hey, man. You're sideways. Hi, Richard. Hi, Richard. Long time no see. You look this way. Happy birthday Bob. Happy birthday Bob. Happy birthday Bob. It's a party tonight. Okay, great. Yeah, it's a party tonight. happy birthday to you Happy birthday to you. Jane's a good singer. Jane can do it. Take it away, Jane. Yeah, take it away, Jane. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday. Mwah! Woohoo! I remember your amazing grace. Yes. Bring Grace on, I like her too. Ah! What? It's a funny thing, we all celebrate Dee's birthday, but none of us can remember our birthday.
Yeah, that's right. It's really just an excuse because he's not the body, but it's just an excuse to shower him with more love. That's it. An excuse to celebrate the life that you are both. Yeah. Yeah. It's quite a relief none of us were ever born. Yeah. And that's only one of us, just in a few versions. Anyway, what are we looking for this love for? We've each got a cup full of love. There's time we pour something out... Yeah. ...so somebody else can take it in. Right. That's one of the songs I sing, my cup runneth over. Yeah, my cup runneth over. Yeah. that one by?
My cup runneth over. That's one of the songs isn't it? I'm not sure. Doesn't matter who wrote it or who said it. Doesn't matter, no there's no... It's the importance of it. Good wishes and love and respect. Takes us out of the hate, animosity, greed and all that other stuff. Because they're all the opposites anyway. I'm going to mute myself, there's no interference. Love you, look forward to hearing you. Love you Jane. Bob can you hear me? Yes. Thank you. Love the energy. Yeah, nice. Birthday. How are things in your part of the world? Well pretty good really, you know. We're out and about. That's good.
Not too bad. But I'm still doing a lot of cooking. Bit of eating. Yeah. Yeah no, it's you know, a few sunny days in the winter's been really good. Yeah. Good. Yeah. You know, obviously South Australia's been doing okay with this whole pandemic thing. Yeah. But the good news is that Oxford Research has got a vaccine that could last for years. Yeah. Yeah. We'll be out of this one day. Yep. Sooner than later. And I'm going to say to the rest of them. We'll be out of this one day. Sooner than later. But hopefully it'll be the same this year. Yeah. And hopefully it's going to be slow.
But hopefully it'll be the same today. I do think that the next few days and the next half a year, we'll be out of this one. Yeah. We're out of this one. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The great perfection is unfixated awareness. You're not fixating on anything, it's free to move. It does move. Where are yesterday's thoughts now? They're not on to anyone or they all come and gone and there's fresh and new thoughts here right now. That's the freedom. These are things we need to recognise, re-cognise. It's a cognising emptiness. Emptiness is doing the cognising. And the Buddha told us that cognising emptiness is forming, emptiness is forming everything.
And the form can be nothing other than the emptiness. Putting out of us all, only seemingly so, a phenomenal manifestation. The definition of phenomena is that which appears. Or seems to be so. That's why we need to put, we don't need, nobody needs, but the need is to put everything to the test. And the essence test of anything is does it work? And I can tell you it works and somebody else can tell you it works and a million others will tell you it doesn't work. But it's only you that will really know. A little bit of investigation. I hope the winter's just all going jang when you finish your lecture.
I hope you've got the chapter. Yeah, well done. Yeah. That's for my puppy. And I don't know when I'm getting my puppy. Might be a dog by the time it's finished. So that's what we point out or try to point out here. What they call non-duality in the traditions. Hindu tradition, the Advaita tradition. The Advaita means non-duality. And they try to describe non-duality. You can't describe it because you can describe, how can you describe the indescribable? Impossible. But we try to describe it by saying it's one without a second. And they don't mean without a second, using the second as a piece of time. They mean without the other, not two.
Yeah. It's only the one essence. Now we're functioning from this personal viewpoint. It's also always me and other than me. It's always two. It's always duality. And we wonder why we don't see the non-dual aspect of it and don't stay with it. How can you? When you've got the conceptual belief that there is other than that one essence. There is other than me. There is other than this. There is other than that. Other means two or more. It's not two and it's not even one. When it's investigated thoroughly. It's just that non-conceptual, as I say, ever fresh presence awareness. Just this, nothing else. Non-conceptual. Without any concepts which are mental constructs, words or sounds or vibration.
Without any of that going on to divide it. It's non-conceptual. And if you can't, none of those things you can utilise to divide it, it's still only the one, isn't it? Always and ever been. And they, you know that in your language too. And they also tell us that. And they say the Mahavacya or the great mantra is I am that. Heard that many times. You really understood it. Innately you know that everything is that. Because what you're sitting on, that is a chair. The room you're in, that is the room. That is a tree outside. That's the flower. That's the sky. That's the space.
That's the other people apart from you. That is you. Everything is that. And when they say I am that, that's where they're pointing to. That's where they're pointing to. The thatness or the oneness of everything. And what have we done? We've put words on it, labels. And divided it up because now you say that's the tree, that's the flower. That's the room. That's the sky. That's the space. We've discriminated, separated with the discriminating words. And we rely on so many words. But how many words are we born with? If you had words when you were born, you would remember your birth. But you can't remember when you were born.
And that's why you can't remember because you didn't have any words to say I was born on this and so on, such and such a date. On that date. You didn't. But you were told years later that you were born on this such and such a date. Such and such a time. That's your true birth, your real birth. Or the real coming into this existence. This pattern of a body-mind entity that you find. The existence of that and knowing that. Because when you were in the womb, you were an ovum and a sperm coming together. Even if you had words, you wouldn't be able to say what you were because you'd be that two little microscopic particles coming together.
And then merging and coming together. The growth began and formed the little embryo. The genes or whatever was in those two particles. Just again. Nothing came. Completely, solid or whole. But when they formed, the little embryo, the little fetus, began to grow and that is what you are today. The only difference is you've kept growing. You didn't remain at that stage. Again, pointing out as they say, it's transient. It's constantly changing. Everything is constantly transient. Constantly changing. No static point anywhere in this manifestation, in this cosmos. And there's no self-nature to anything. All the things that you and I are, the same thing. We have no self-nature.
But we've got that belief that we have. We call it my-self. My-self. And we mean by that the personal self. What's the person? Where does the word person come from? It comes from the Latin, I think it was, meaning persona. The mask. Now with this coronavirus going around, we'll all be wearing masks shortly. And you're going to say, I am the mask? Even if you say it a million times, you'll know you're not it. So this mask of a persona, of a conceptual image you've got, maybe you're not it either. Have you ever looked to see? A false cannot stand up to investigation. And it can't.
When you look at something and really look into it and see through it, if it's not the actual, if it's not the real, if it's not the true, it'll fall apart under that investigation. Like years and years ago when people stood on the shore looking out where the sea and the sky met, they were told, don't go out there. Don't go out there. You'll fall off the edge of the earth. And it looks like it is the edge of the earth, doesn't it? I've seen it. Have you ever watched a sunset? The sun go down, seems to settle into the sea, but you don't see a big cloud of steam coming up.
It hasn't settled into the water at all. The earth is not, it's not the edge of the earth out there. And you see that, and you know today, nobody would believe it today because it's been investigated. Thoroughly looked into it and seen. And even the sea, the water appears blue. But if I ask you to give me a bucket of blue water out of the ocean, you tell me, don't be stupid. I'm not going to waste my time doing that because you're not a saint. But when you turn away from it, doesn't it still appear to be blue? Whenever you look at it, doesn't it always appear to be blue?
And the same with the sky. In space, you look up in the sky and you'll see the blue sky, what you call blue sky. It's the blue background, seemingly. But it's not there. There's nothing there. There's no colour in it whatsoever. These are the knowledge as they point out. They point out the way we see things are not always so. They need to be looked into. The water in the mirror, as there appears to be, I often be driving along the road and you'll see a pool of water up ahead of you. When you drive up there, it disappears because there's only the sun shining on the bitumen and the whole thing.
The rays of heat, trembling and spinning seem to form water. But there never was any water there. Never will be in the mirrors. There won't be water there at all because there's no water in the mirror. The snake in a rope. There are many analogies they point out, pointing out to us, the falseness of things and where to look. But how often do we look? How often do we investigate? We go on, we go on, poured up in this persona, this mask, this conceptual image, day after day, week after week, year after year, trying to work it out in the mind, if I do this and do that, but if this hadn't happened, why?
If you were a cigarette smoker, what did you do with the butts? You threw them away. They were no good to you. That's what you need to do with these thoughts when the butts come up. Because that starts another story, if you have those butts. And then it goes on and on. on and on and on. I did this or she said that or this happened or that happened. The story goes on and on with the buts, the whys, the hows and the whens. What happens if you stop right now? Ask yourself the simple question, what's wrong with right now if I don't think about it?
Now you can't not think because there's no use doing the thinking anyway. Thinking is spontaneously coming up. But you can look beyond that thought or let the thought go. Don't fasten onto it, fixate on it, take it on board. If the thought's let go or you're looking beyond it and there's no thought there in that moment, what can you say about it? Where's the goodness about it then? Where's the badness about it? Where's the pleasant or the painful or the highness or the lowness gone if you're not getting any more concepts or thoughts? Everything is just as it is right now. The same with conditioning.
Oh, I've conditioned to this. My conditioning is to this. My conditioning is to this. My conditioning is such and such and such and such. My conditioning, whose conditioning? This conceptual image has got this belief conditioning and hanging onto it. But what conditioning is there if there's no thought about it? Tell me, see. And the old habits might come up where it's fearful or anxious or fearful. If you're not putting the same old labels or words on it, you're sitting with them as though you're seeing them fresh and new for the first time. You can't put the old thing on. You'll see them in a totally different light.
And as Nisargadatta says, nothing can trouble you except in your own imagination. Now that's an amazing statement. And it's amazingly true when you look into it. We've got all these troubles and what real, they're all imagined. And what's your word there, imagined? Image in. We've made up a bunch of things. We've made up a mental or conceptual image. An image made up of thoughts and taken to believe, to be real. So the image, the imagined or the images become real. Now there you are, you look at that and see the truth of that. You look in the mirror and what do you see in the mirror?
You realise you see nothing but reflections or images in the mirror. Now you might be looking at yourself in the mirror and you'll see that you see that image, and that image. image of yourself. Now you can't say it's not there. But go up and try and pull that image out of the mirror, you can't grasp it. Because when you go to grasp it, there's nothing there. So you can't say it is there because it appears to be there. And you can't say it's not there because of any preverage, you can't say it is there. It either is or is not, it's just seemingly appearance.
Now realise when you look at that, this is what we do when we deal with our thoughts. We're imagining this concept to be real or this one, this is a good one, this is a bad one, this is happiness, this is fear, this is depression, this is anxiety, this is stress. And all these mental constructs, which we put the words on all the labels, taking them to be real, without question. And we carry them around for years. Now you didn't have any words when you were born. And you see now that the words are not there. the thing like the word water you realize you can't drink the word you can't swim it you won't drown it you can't wash it so the word is not the real so if the word is not the real what's the word have a look and see when you look at word words sound isn't it you like a noise there's these words coming out now they sound and what sound you got musical instruments like a string on a guitar or a note on a piano they're sounds and you judge as musical notes or this that or that I don't know much about music they're like sounds what are sounds vibrations these words that come out what are they sounds what sounds vibrations and what's a vibration it's just a movement of energy you it's energy is vibrating just like the wind moving the leaves on the tree there's a vibration you can't show me the wind anybody ever been able to grasp the wind or when the wind is very still if not straight everybody has to grasp a handful of air you can't but it appears to be so you can see you can see the movement of the wind or the activity of the wind you can't grasp the wind it's moving leaves blowing branches around it's causing waves on the ocean is doing all sorts of things sound is a vibration and the vibration is a movement of energy so these words sounds coming up energy the breath you're taking when you breathe it in the makes us hear so so hammers are so our mantra incoming breath in the out young but the mics that sound myself my right and that goes on spontaneously containers they are natural.
And the vibration is nothing but a pattern of vibration and movement of energy. Now what is energy? Well another term for energy is light. You've got a generator going now somewhere, a big transformer or something is going on and every bulb in your room and other lights and computers and things like that are coming from that by eroding that energy which is light. That's why they call it enlightenment or the love light in your eyes, the light of love. Everything is that energy or light. And then Christ also tells you, he says, I am the light of the world. Not talking about himself again, but that sense of presence.
It's not the I, the I am is the sense of presence. It's not the word I am, what we think is a person again. It's the sense of presence. It's not the I, the I am is the sense of presence. It's not the word I am, what we think is a person again. It's the sense of presence, the knowing that you are. Somebody asks you, who are you? You'll say, I am Judas or I am Sally or I am what? Now you see, we are the I am immediately, the sense of presence. We've been put in the name, we've given to this form. Bob, Sally, Judy.
The names, the forms which are my, are illusion. The vibration patterns of energy. Sat, Chit, Ananda, Nama, Ruba. They're the factors, five factors of Hinduism. Sat is existent. And you know you are existing right now, don't you? You're absolutely certain of I am existing. It's consciousness. You know you're not unconscious, so you must be conscious. And you know you're not unaware, so you must be aware. Existence, consciousness, bliss, loving to be is bliss. You all love to be. And the Nama Ruba, the name and form are my, they're illusion. I'm Bob. How do I know? Well, I was given that name years ago and I believed it ever since, until it's been investigated.
My name is just another label. A label is not what I am. It's got nothing to do with me. That's the name, as well. And the form, and through that label, which is a label, like name to express. If it didn't have a form with a voice, it wouldn't exist. It wouldn't exist. It wouldn't exist. It's the voice with the mind with all the energy that's making, enlivening that form there. How could it express or say a word? It couldn't be just like the wind breathing in and breathing out, making sounds and expressing as words. Saying it's the function, it's utilizing the other organs that are in that pattern, that form that's expressing through.
Like the brain, the sinews, the nerves, and all the rest of it. We talk about my brain and what it can do. The brain can't do a damn thing. like the eyes or the ears or the heart can't do anything without the life. Without the life in that body is a corpse. What can it do? What can a corpse do? Nothing. Why? Because the life energy, the vibration or the movement has gone out of it and it's still silenced and dead and empty. So what must you be? And just a little bit of sensible reasoning there. Well you see without that life I couldn't be anything, I'd be a corpse.
So I'm not the body and the mind and the life that's enlivening that body, that mind and amazingly enough there's just this personal body, mind, that's enabling and by writing and utilising and expressing through every other pattern in this manifestation, in this Cosmos. It is the one life that's appearing, patterning, shaping, informing and expressing as everything. Not the many that have appears as many and then when they tell you that the manifestation is Maya or illusion and it's transient, they're telling you the truth. They say it is a phenomenal manifestation. A definition of phenomena in the dictionary is that which appears to be. Another word for appearance is seems to be so.
It's not real. It doesn't seem real. It seems real because we believe them. And it is real. It is real in the one essence, but not as it appears. The pattern, shapes and forms as they say are Maya. They seemingly come and go. But you, when you recognise it, that you are not this body, you are the mind, you are the life, this happening, shape and form, you are the mind. I've never ever had any beginning. I've never ever had any ending. You are the absolute in its absoluteness. It hasn't got any time. It hasn't got any space or beginning or end. It all just is as it is.
Patterns, shapes and forms come about. Transient, they're going to change. Might change in a different pattern, sure. But the patterning, shaping and forming keep going. And that energy, that light is ever and ever fresh and new going on. As Christ pointed out, I am the light of the world. And that energy that you are is what you see the world through. It's the light through which to see the world and know the world. But not in its appearances. You'll take the appearances and recognise them. But you know the truth of the world. You know the truth about it now. They're only phenomenal. And look at the wondrous and varied ways that it can express and does express.
Intelligent ways. It's not just a blob of goo that's willy nilly vibrating around. And patterns, shapes and forms are all just wondrous. Intelligent ways. That's why I call it intelligence energy. Don't call it God or somehow our power or greater power or mind power or thought power. It's all about the power of God. We use the term intelligence energy. And that's just a label also. Like God is a label. It's not it. Like God you put a name and form on. Intelligence energy. Intelligence is knowing. It's not your intellects. Intellects two and two is four is a lot different from the knowing. Intelligence the activity of knowing.
Knowing that this is so and so and that and so and so and it all is as it is. That's pure knowing. Being, knowing and loving to be. The I-N-G of the knowing. The activity. Any activity is a movement. Intelligence, the way it vibrates, have a look. See in nature how it's that intelligence is functioning. It's forming these personas, these marks. It's forming an earth that they're walking on. It's forming the space that they're appearing in. It's forming everything that they're showing on this manifestation or in this manifestation. Everything is forming and the way they're forming and working and functioning implies there's a fuse within intelligence, not accidental or will it really.
It's a fusion with an innate intelligence. Annate vibrating pattern of energy. And that is what you are. Intelligence is an activity. You have to be in it. You can't get the energy from the spirit. You don't have to be. It's a process. You need to experience it. It's a process. You need to experience that. You need to experience energy is a vibration. So that activity is a vibration, is a movement. That's all that's happening. They call it in Hinduism again Shiva Shakti. Shiva is a static aspect. A space like silence, stillness, screen on which everything appears. Which is awareness of everything. A pure knowing. A pure absolute, uncontrived, pure, absolute listen.
Shiva. What happens? His concept, well the female aspect I was on, Shakti. Shakti dances. Or in other words, she vibrates. In that vibration, what the shimmering, shaking vibrates into different patterns. Like you put a few iron filings on a piece of paper and put a magnet underneath it, what do they do? They start dancing and form a pattern around the magnets. They're the same things happening on a different scale . And what they are isn't that? Then we don't get to intelligence energy, the active energy and higher consciousness. of knowing. You're not the person, you're not the separate entity, you're not the separate individual core human being after all.
I'm only you. How can I stand up to all this? You can't because you've taken yourself to be something separate and apart and belittled yourself by encasing yourself in a group of concepts. You don't have to do it. Simple as that. Stop it. Just don't go there. Let it be. Then you say that's not easy to do. It's not either. It's not easy. Because you keep trying. What happens if you leave it as it is? And you know how to let it go. If you've got a full bladder, you can't hang on for it. Try to hang on to it, that's why you can't hang on to it.
What do you do when you go? You're going to let it go. See what's going on. So don't let it go. things like that point to it. See what it's pointing to, how it's pointing to. Learn about the self, not the personal self. The personal self doesn't even exist. There's only one self, they call it the Atma of the Self. It's the self that's knowing, it's the self that's shining, it's the self that is aware. It's the self that's being, knowing and loving to be. It's the self that is you, expressing its form, happening and forming as this little self, which you call my self.
When you put the me or the my, you're relating to it, seeming separate into the person owner. And you've belittled yourself into something a lot less than what you are. And that divided self is continually suffering and it is, will always continue to suffering while it's believed. Because if you've separated yourself from the wholeness and the completeness and in that separation there's the belief that I'm not good enough, or I'm fearful or I'm unhappy. And the worst one we put upon ourselves, after all I'm only human, we're not loved, you're not only human. But you have a look at that, investigate it, call yourself a human being.
In other words, you are a pure being. That's another term for such a dangerous being. Knowing and loving to be. It's a different expression for the same term. It's such an enigma. So being, you are being right now. Can you negate your beingness? You can't. You can try and negate it with the mind, say I am not, I am not, I am not. Every word time you say it, it's the very beingness and labelling it as that. And you're knowing. You're knowing that these words are going on. And it's coming out. But it's not the you that's knowing, it's not this little human knowing that's knowing.
It's the absolute knowing itself. The one, atma, one self, that's knowing itself and everything else that's under us. Pure knowing. And so we call ourselves a human being. We call God, this God we believe, He's much greater than me. He's a higher power. mind power, or thought power, they're all greater than this me. But I tell you there's only the one power. Only the one. That power is omnipotence, total power. Total means it's containing all the other so-called powers. The mind power, the thought power, the human power, whatever personal power. It's omnipresence. It's the total presence. It's not my presence, your presence, or this presence.
It's the total presence. It's omniscience. It's the total intelligence. There's not a separate ways of intelligence there. It's all one intelligence. A one life that's expressing as everything. Expressing in all the different patterns, shapes and forms. And all the different patterns, shapes and forms that it expresses in, there's still only that life. And I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. And I am the way. I am the truth. I am the life. That sense of presence, that I am-ness, which we take to be I am the body, I am the mind. Take those labels off and drop me the body and the mind, because you're not that.
Take yourself to be the true self. I am the absolute. Just take it for a while. If you don't really know it or see it through, try it out. And see the weight or the burden it takes off you. And all that conceptual reasoning and fear and anxiety and stress that comes up. You've let it go for a while. And if you do that a few times, you're not going to bother picking it up and taking it on board again. How did this self come about in the first place? Well, when you reach about the age of two, two and a half, somewhere around that age, the capacity of reasoning develops in you.
The first couple of years you're like that little child of seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, feeling. Like whatever thinking comes up with reasoning, you can't do anything about it. You can't do much because he hasn't got any words to relate it to. So he can't divide it or relate it. So at that age, when the capacity of reasoning comes upon him, he starts to learn words. And his parents tell him, you're little Johnny or you're little Billy or you're little Bob. And he starts to read and somebody tells him, I am, and this and this. And he learns words like I and me and other words.
So with that reasoning, he starts to say, this little... Johnny or Billy, they're talking about, this is me. I am little Johnny. And that's when I've set up the sense of separation. But when that little... Look out there, that little Johnny looks out there. And he looks beyond it and he says, see something that he hasn't learnt words for. And he reasons, that's not little Johnny. That's not me. And so now he's got the idea of something other than I or me. And what happens, he feels separate from it. Where before, when he was just seeing everything as it is, there was no separation. It just wouldn't work.
Now he feels that sense of separation. And with that sense of separation comes insecurity and vulnerability. Now instead of being the totality, he's become an insecure and vulnerable, miserable little human being. And that's reinforced from then on. And parents keep reinforcing, your little Johnny is, so I'll show you this, that's me. I'll do this, don't do that. Then he goes to school and the teacher at school does the same thing to him. And everybody around him is doing it. And he starts to reinforce himself. I am Bob and this is hard to know. I like this, I don't like that. This is good, that's fair.
And I'm adding all these concepts onto myself. And putting, dropping off other concepts and adding more on. Constantly changing, constantly fearful, consciously insecure, constantly vulnerable. There can come be moments of happiness, joy and sadness. But then the thoughts come up, but what if this happened? And I start off in another story. And the anticipation, imagine the buts and the whys and ifs now. And get locked into it again. So it's being reinforced day in, day out, every day, every night, every time, all the time. Over the years. See why it's so hard to get rid of now. Or seemingly hard. Because it's being reinforced day in and day out without question.
Our parents never told us because they didn't question it. But down through the ages there have been some few that have realised it in one way or another. Have a question and say it to them. And they've passed it on to whoever was willing to listen to it. And not everybody was. And they'd only had, only villages then. They didn't have the ways of communication that we have today. And so a few would hear it. And others would hear it. And they started to write the big, all the traditions and scriptures about that. And all the great religions formed around what these few different ones have said.
And what have we done? We've set the ones up that told us, pointed them out as saints, sages, saints. And we've set the ones up that told us, pointed them out as saints, sages, saints. And we've set the ones up that told us, pointed them out as saints, sages, saints. Sages, saviours, seers and gods in some cases. And we've worshipped the messenger and missed out on the message. Instead of taking notice of the message. That you are already that in your manhood. That sort of. They're worshippers of the messenger. If I touch his feet, if I worship him, or I pray to him,or I repeat this matter he's telling me about.
I will become that. Well, you wouldn't be here if you hadn't tried a lot of these meditations. practices before this and read a lot of things. Why haven't you become that? Why haven't I just gone and read it? Maybe I've been looking in the wrong direction. I've looked into this thoroughly and never found the answer. And what were I looking for? I've always been looking into the mind for it. Looking for the next story. What about this book? What about this theory? What about this one? This psychoanalysis or whatever other practices I do. Nerval transpiration. I'm always looking in the mind for the answer. You know, have a look at some of the great traditions again and they'll tell you you will never ever get peace of mind.
And that's what we're looking for. Peace. The mind can never be in peace and when you realize that yourself, you'll know it's so. Because the mind's always vibrating. Another thought is always coming up, another feeling, another emotion. It might not just dawn on you then, well maybe I've been looking in the wrong direction. I've been always looking in the wrong direction. Well what way is there out of the moment? And you'd have to be a Rhodes Scholar to see that either. Every direction you look will always be in the mind. And there's only one way out of the moment. Full stop. Or as they say in America or the States, period.
Don't go there. Just don't go there. Don't go looking in the mind for the answer. You won't find the answer. And that's what they tell you too, that the mind, the peace is when the mind is not. And they describe that by calling it the peace that passes all understanding. Now any understanding you've ever had or ever would like to have has always been in the mind. Always will be. Understood at metal or conception. Because if the peace is not there, because the peace that passes all understanding, means it's beyond all understanding. So you'll never ever get it with a thought, with a concept, with an idea, with a meaning.
Just go, don't go there. And if you ask yourself, what's wrong with right now? If I don't think about it to do that, you've got to try and look beyond the thought or pause the thought for a minute. Get over it or hide it one way or another. And see. And realise when there is no thought and you've had moments when there are not thoughts. And you'll have moments again. When there are not thoughts, what can you say about it? Without a thought you can't say it's good. You can't say it's bad. You can't say it's happy or sad or high or low. You can't say anything at all about it.
But there is a sense. A sense of well-being. There's an esagana that says of being well. And he says I can only put it negatively. There is nothing wrong with it. Right and wrong are disappeared. Good and bad are disappeared. Pleasure and bad are disappeared. It's just as it is. What is means it's unaltered, unmodified, uncorrected. Just as is. Listen, is is part of the verb today. Like am, is, are, and what. So what is means it's unaltered, unmodified, uncorrected. I told you in the, in Sing Wing. I told you in another beautiful text. It's a Zen text. But it's still basically pointing out the great way is not difficult.
I've been on this search for years and thinking how hard it is. But it tells you it's no two words. The great way is not difficult. And it tells you in the Lao Tzu or the Chinese teaching. The way that can be thought about or spoken about is not the way. Again, you're not going to get it in the mind. The great way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. And we all have preferences. But without any preferences, it's not difficult. When love and hate are both happens, and that's how the mind functions in the good way. The love and hate, the pleasure of playing, the good and the bad, they're, and we always have preference for one or the other.
So that's going to become as difficult. We're looking for the good. And we have to ignore the bad. And the bad's always going to appear. But the great way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. When love and hate are both absent. They're not talking about just love and hate. They're talking about the pairs of opposites. They just, they can't put all that, all those pairs of opposites into the text. Or it'll go on forever. So it took out two. When love and hate are both, everything becomes clear and undescribes. And it's not difficult. The mask's taken off. If you haven't got the mask on, you're not disguised anymore.
And it's clear. When there's no cloud obscuring the sun, the nature of the sky is clear. When there's no thought going on in the mind, there's a clarity there. A sense of wellbeing. Like I said, love and hate are both, everything becomes clear and undisguised. Like the smallest distinction, however. And heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. The smallest distinction. That means if you go to one end of the scale of the stick or the other end, you're making the distinction. You're lost in the pairs of opposites again. So this goes on from there. That's how you read it. And you'll see it's beautiful. It works with the art.
You get the taste of what it's saying. It'll tell you what you need to know. Like a lot of other things. Anyway. That's enough of my carrying on. Thank you all for your birthday greetings. It's been a wonderful day. And I love you all. Amazingly enough, as it seems, thank you for being who and what you are. I know who and what you are. Even if you don't. Which you can be. Love you. Cats can have a go now. And then you can have a go yourselves. Because each and every one of you had a taste of it. So tell us all about it. What you see.
The way I put it. There's many different ways you can be expressed. And there'll still be more and many more. But express it as you see it. But the old scripture is saying is know the truth and the truth will set you free. That's where the freedom, with the freedom is the peace and joy. Right now. See you. Hi everyone. Hi to everyone. Hi to everyone who joined. Yeah, I don't think you actually need me today because we have 40 minutes to go. That was nice, beautiful, loving entrance. And then nice, beautiful, loving spiel. And now if any of you would like to join in and jump in and chip in and contribute, because that's what is the most enjoyable.
I believe when the message comes through another channel, when it is when something in you resonates. Some of the pointers really land and strike home. And now you put them in your own words. That is the same message. That is the same life expressing in different words. It's no different. It's not in inferior to what Bob is saying is the same one. It's good for you to express it because you are just leaving open door, open channel for that intelligence, that life to, to pull out and express through you. But it's equally wonderful for everyone else because they may hear it. And it often happens when the, when someone change a word or change the accent or highlight particular aspect of a pointer.
It is heard much better by other people. I mean, not necessarily better than what Bob originally says it, but it is kind of highlighted from a different angle. Any of it, any pointer, any insight that you have or any question that you have. Please unmute yourself. And. Share it. That's also the best birthday gift for Bob. You've seen him, how happy he is, how happy it makes him when, when there are fruits of his work. And you sharing that unique, beautiful, simple, basic message is the fruit. It brings the great joy to his, what seems like a life mission. Although there is no mission of God.
But it just seems like that's, that's what life wanted from him. But that's 45 years. Long as I live. Hi Bob. Happy birthday. Happy felicitations for your natal day. Thank you. So what is it? 92? That's right. Yeah. Yeah. Big age. Yeah. Yeah. And that is beyond my original belief. Hmm. Oh, well done. Well, I haven't done it. Well, ultimately life is you. So as for who you are, it's all yours. Yeah. Well, I should, I. Not as far. As the person who I stuffed it up along with you. That's right. Yeah. Not as far as the essence. No. No. and you didn't stuff it well enough, thank God.
Oh, it wasn't funny. You always had a good insight, Jim. You want to drop something in? Or not today? No, I guess I'm a bit of a sort of a chap that doesn't have much to say unless it just sort of comes upon the mind as important to say it. Yeah. So, yeah, usually comments are reserved because they're made by others. I guess in relation to what we've been saying, what Bob's been talking about tonight, this image we have of ourselves, this little eye, is really just an image in awareness in the tangible space-time world. This image is neither real nor unreal. But we mistake it for our true identity, which is the awareness in which it all happens.
And what is out there is really just an image in awareness, a mirrored self-image, but an image nevertheless. So it's the awareness that is looking, and it is the identity that we really are. That's about my summary of it for the evening. Beautiful. Beautiful. You added important distinction here. It's an image. It's neither real nor is unreal. Correct. Yeah. Because we often, when we point into it, we say it is all bullshit, it's all in imagination. And that's true too. But it nevertheless is appearing. It is in the appearance. Can't deny it. What for? Yes. Yes. Yes, we take it. We take it. Yes. We see the image of an actor or an actress on a movie that's projected on a screen.
But we don't see the image that we have of ourselves so readily, so easily, because it's of a different order of dimension. The image we see on the screen is simply 2D. But the image that's held in mind is a bit imageless in many respects. It's a bit hard to see. But when it's ultimately seen, it's on the canvas of awareness. And once you've seen that, you know no longer that you are no longer the image that is painted on that canvas of awareness. Yeah. Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, that's what happens when you see it. Sometimes it's very hard to see it, especially the emotional part of it.
But it's actually the good hint to it is to see where the difference is. When I'm going to defend myself. Is it my thoughts that I believe they're mine, or I need to defend them? Or is it my family setting? Or is it my profession or the other role? Or even vulnerability? Something that feels like it needs protecting. Because there's nothing, nothing needs protecting. So the image is sometimes is a feeling. Sometimes it is just a kind of, yeah, an unworthiness or vulnerability or fear of rejection. And that's it. Yes. Because the image of being a person or man or woman that has been seen through.
But the subtle parts of the image can still linger. Hmm. Yes. Yes. It seems that one of the keys is. Perhaps not reconceptualizing, but realizing that hearing, seeing, touching, feeling, listening, and so on. Are all just only actions of awareness being awareness or in contemporary power or in traditional parlance, God being God. The body itself doesn't do the seeing or the hearing. Hmm. It's the awareness, the consciousness, the life. It's. What are you just seeing? It's deity being seeing and hearing, et cetera. So is this reality God is the seeer seeing, being seen? Seeing in effect is our identity. The identity that we are. And that's the living, the seeing.
This being is it, which is God just being. Yeah. Beautiful. Yeah. And I think that's the key. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Beautiful. Yeah. And then again, see, it's always somebody says it and the important aspect comes in. You know, not just being, but any ing, any functioning. Yes. Yes. That's it. Hmm. Yeah. So seeing is happening. You are that. You are the seeing. Hearing is that. Correct. You are that. You are the hearing. You are the functioning. You are. Hmm. Yeah. This is what's the most precious about the brainstorming together and bringing the little aspects into the light because it always clears out some of the misconceptions and misunderstandings.
And it's just beautiful. What is it Peter? Happy birthday Bob. Thank you. It's been wonderful to know you these years and always a great joy to be with you and fantastic birthday today 92 and hope you have many more of them. Who knows, none of us know but that's a fantastic achievement for human life and your life in particular. And you've given a lot of hope. Thank you. And a lot of joy to the planet around the world and great gratitude for your work and I always get a great sense of freedom when I'm with you. And also that immediacy of realisation is here now, it's immediate.
We don't have to bring in time. We don't have to bring in time. You know, endless practice to get somewhere that we already are. As you always point out. You are that. You are that right now. And realising that, the time I was with Mr Gaddafi as well after you were there, it's exactly the same feeling, same message. The immediacy, the freedom, the joy, the Sat Chit Ananda, you know, being conscious of bliss right here now. And you know, it's just, it's a great feeling. It's a great feeling. It's a great feeling. It's a great feeling. It's a great feeling. You know, it's just such a release every time to be with you and to realise there's nowhere else to go.
You know, there's nowhere else to go. It's here now. It's joyful here now. This is it. And you know, that's a great, that's a really great service to the world you're given. So, really bow down to your life and your service and hope that it even continues further. And I think it's a really good way to do that into the future. So, thanks, Bob. Thank you. Thank you. Peter, are you in Albury? No, I'm in Sydney. Oh, okay. I used to be in Albury. Oh, did you? Yeah. Is your mother Flory by any chance? Which one? Flory. I can't remember the name. No. Flory Thompson.
No. No. No. Different person. Sorry about that, folks. Yeah. Yeah. I'm sorry. Flory Thompson. Are you Flory Thompson? No. No. Flory Thompson. about that folks. Yeah, I did live in Aubrey for a year. Okay. Yeah, I like what you said Peter, that there is nowhere to go. We are already here. We are already that. There is nowhere to go. There's nothing else to be found. Everything is already here now. We arrived. We didn't even need to arrive because we didn't have to, we didn't go anywhere. It's always here. Yeah, so important to hear that time and time again. Have it reinforced. Happy birthday. It's beyond all words.
We're using words, but really it's a wordless transmission. The vehicle of words is there, but the real transmission is wordless. So it's just beyond all the words. It's just this, beyond the words. Yeah, trying to find it in words is a word misunderstanding. One could say words are appearing in it and disappearing in it. But it cannot appear in words. Words are flat, the dead. Well, everything is life but in a way to actually for the words to try to envelope or capture, encapsulate life is just an impossibility. This is like the silence cannot noise or the noise cannot understand the silence. Words are noise.
I'll say happy birthday young Bobby. Thank you young Amalekal. It's great to see everyone as well. I can't wait to get back in that lounge room. And just a comment about the acting earlier. Jane sent me a video that Jim Carey did and how he awakened. I don't know if everyone is familiar with that video. He awakened by playing a character and getting so lost in the character that he couldn't find himself after doing the movie. So he thought he had gone crazy. Then he realised if I can lose that character that easily, then who is Jim Carey? That was a great video. Thank you.
It's a good story. Good example. And I do have a question as well. I've completed Jeffrey Martin's 45 Days to Awakening. It was fantastic. And I'm now doing what he calls the exemplar course. And the idea of that is for finders. So when they... It's basically an explorer course for finders. So once people have reached some sort of level of fundamental wellbeing, the idea is to navigate through that. So when the narrative self is gone... He talks about fundamental wellbeing, the first location being just a feeling of being okay. So there's still a narrative self. And then he talks about different locations losing the narrative self.
But the interesting thing as part of that is he gets... He has this planning exercise where you plan what you want for your finances, for your environment, for your relationships, for your work. And it just seems like a really big contradiction in many ways because that's the sort of thing that I've been kind of letting go of very much. I used to overplan and overworry about the future. But he says that if you don't do that, then from his experience with what he says are thousands of finders, some people will just lose all their money. They'll be worth a lot of money. They'll lose it all.
They'll end up divorced and basically their life. And they don't care about it. They lose it all and they don't care about it. So you have all your money and you seek it. Who cares about the money? Seeking is a disaster. I read the book. I didn't do any of the courses, but I read the book, the finders book, because Bob was one of the people that Jeffrey interviewed. And he said, you know, I'm not going to do it. And I was just curious. How is that book going to come out? And I read it and I enjoyed it. But when he started offering the option of being a seeker again, I said, look, I don't go there.
He started offering, OK, look, you can go to different locations. Just desire. Just go back to desiring. Just go back to wanting what is not. Just go back to resisting the moment as it is right now. Stop seeing it as perfect and complete. And imagine the world in which you will have even more pleasure. This is a trap of the mind. I don't know. His system is obviously many people enjoy it and they follow it and they have mission and they have goal and they have things to achieve and they are happy and good on them. Wonderful. Wonderful. He came up with that idea for people to strive and achieve more, get more desire, more.
But what I've learned from Bob is mind will try to seduce you back to the seeking mode on many, many different ways. One of the ways is desire what is not. Go back to desiring more. Rather than finding, you know, completeness right in this moment with or without the money, with or without the life, the wife or family, whatever. Mm hmm. Yeah, that's what kind of struck me as being curious because if there is no self, then who's making those choices and decisions? It can't come from that higher self or that atman really. There is no higher self, lower self. There is no self at all.
If we start constructing different selves who have different free will and different choices to make and decisions to follow, we are back in the dream. But again, I think he's done a wonderful job. I really appreciate everything he does, including offering people more seeking and being happy. They already have that fundamental will be good on them. If they resonate with the need of seeking more, good on them. This is all life. Life is perfect in all its ways, including getting non seekers to be seekers again. It is all perfect. It's just that I think. It's just that I would. I just I just wouldn't wish that to Bob or myself or or any of you who who found the who found the peace that passed at all understanding to go back on seeking and wanting something else, something more, something more pleasant because.
Yeah, well, that that road is it's just who is there? Yeah. Who wants location number 15? Who wants it? Yeah, that's what's confusing. Yeah, exactly. Maybe it's time to look if there is somebody there with who wants it. Who does it? Oh, yeah, yeah. Go. Go. Go. So, Michael, were you talking about manifestation then? Like about. Manifesting. Money or. Not really. Maybe what he says is that from his study of finders is that. It's almost like navigating this reality. So you have a choice of going off into the cave and just sinking into it and just disappearing into it. Or if you want to function in this world, there's a risk that if you just lose all sense of narrative self, you lose a self analysis as well.
So you don't necessarily. You don't necessarily know how you're functioning or whether you do fit in or function in this world. So he's suggesting if you do want to function in this world, then you do some of that. And there is a shell of us. There's no doership. It's that chop wood carry water. Chop wood carry water thing, you know, like like I was unemployable probably when I came to see Bob and now I'm a senior lawyer. I'm like into suffering when there's doership like just now I'm in a shit fight because I bought a BMW on eBay today and then I changed my mind.
So I'm acquiring eBay convertibles. But anyway, I'm now in a shit fight with someone in the vehicle. They'll go violent because they're in Crib Point and sounded like a junkie. But anyway, so, you know, but it's bubble and froth whether I get the beamer or not. I've been driving the Corolla for 10 years. You know, the hubcap rolled off when I was. I'm. They'll I park it at the Langham. So I thought it might be a new time to get a new car, you know, but it's all bubble and froth and this the suffering is the doership. You know that Bob has a story about, you know, try staying in that phone booth forever.
You know, when someone said I might as well not do anything, you know, it really is immaterial what we do. But we're not doing it anyway. There's no one to take the blame. No one to take the praise. No one to acquire a mass accumulate. And it's like I'm in that contracted self. As soon as I start grasping to acquire a mass accumulate to patch it up, you know, and it's a complete nonsense because nothing's ever happened and nothing's ever wrong. Yeah. So it was did seem a bit contradictory to me. It was surprising. But thanks for that. Yeah. Thanks. Yeah. Yeah. So the goal is just to let go and just sink in and just let it happen.
Whatever happens. But I do. I would like to acknowledge also this work because I think he put a lot of effort in and a lot of love and care into seeing, you know, statistically what sort of dangers are what sort of. What sort of situations happen in life once you are a finder and you're not self concerned that much, you're not just what is going to happen to you. And I thought I did see he was having a lesson zero on that explorers course, which was again out of curiosity. I looked at a couple of his videos and it was just so beautiful. He actually warn you.
I hardly remember because my memory is not great anymore. But I think it was something what you were mentioning that people can end up in their children's basement being a potato coach, unemployed and unemployable parasites on the society. And that's not really ideal situation to go to life. And the way he made those videos, his him speaking, it just against his life. And I think this is life bringing certain aspects into the attention. So this one goes and brings your attention or your awareness into certain possibility that when you look at them, the inspiration may happen and some following may also happen. And it doesn't mean that you are now the doer having a choices.
But you happen to be in the presence of someone who is throwing that frequency. Yeah. Of that message of that and the possible consequences of neglecting your own financial health situation. So this is also how life organically resolve things. So on one hand, he is offering you to make conscious choices and navigate, which is which doesn't even fit the language of non duality. On the other hand, he's really not. He's not. He's really not. He comes and sings his song and you are moved by it or you are not moved by it. So objectively, nothing's wrong and nothing ever happened in the language. It kind of it.
It's like is the red flag. I said that in me. Okay. So is he offering to want more? Like, come on. But on the other hand, bringing up all those warnings into the attention. Who knows? Everything influences everything. And the birds singing and Jeffy Martin and Buddha and even his family. They all they all that same life. They all the same life expressing as itself. So if that is heard and that moves something again, take the douche out of it and see what the body is moved to do. Where is the body going to go? And that includes even the manifestation. Even if a station's nonsense in somebody finds in the presence of some inspiring message of my own manifestation and experiments with that and and has results with that.
And again, that's what does it. But if there is a narrative now that desires results or desires outcome, then that's nothing wrong either. It's just suffering goes with it. Suffering goes always with wanting what is not. Wanting what is not and not wanting what is. So I think, you know, like, you know how it says it's not a vacuum or a void. Bob talks about having an affectionate awareness towards the I am. So, you know, this notion of sitting in a cave and achieving enlightenment. I'd sit in the cave and I'd think about myself probably and I'd get miserable. But, you know, like. It's all there.
You know, it's not a vacuum or a void. It's all potential. It's there's not a trust. I don't know. There's just some kind of leap. I don't know what happened. But it's not a me having a faith. But it was. I don't know how to describe it. I had a fear of letting go of the entity. Like. Who am I without my character defects? Who am I without this reference point? How will I operate? Will it all go to hell if I let go of me? And all that got let go of was psychological suffering. Yeah. Let life take it where it will. Get yourself out of the room.
It brought you into existence. It's taken you through all the ups and downs and highs. And lows. And ins and outs. And the more we struggle with it, the harder it gets. But the more you relax into it. And let it be. The more it fulfills itself. I've lost everything two or three times since I came back from the society. Been taken away and lost it in different ways and films. It's all turned itself around. And I'm. One of the major ways and come back again. And it's going on again. Even now, I think. Like. Seeing a lot of. Other people. See how it unfolds.
And that's something. I used to say. When I went on the farm. And it was falling away. On top of it, I got sick. My box was a mile down the road. I used to jump in the car. Driving down to get the mail. I'm just saying. I wonder who's suing us now. We turned ourself around. And we were. We got sued. And we were given. And regardless. If. of you know watching or not watching the videos yeah it's life in its way but in the old days in the ordinary days i'd have shot myself and i am in distress and what comes out exactly and that's kind of what's going on at the moment people will be like um you know living in a warm comfortable home and then they'll go covered you know like that's an insurmountable deal for today you know whereas yeah it's there's been mass extinctions like of dinosaurs that have totally you know wiped out species before it's this is this thinking we are the doers we're so ingrained in us we're frightened to let go we're going to fall apart but what brought you into existence have a look at that can you remember you didn't know anything about it and you know when you poked your head out of the womb first you say i don't want to be here no you didn't know anything about it but you let it happen and it's growing you and lived each and every one of us ever since and even when you pause a thought and look beyond you know you can be there with the thoughts free from that but you haven't stopped breathing heart hasn't stopped beating hair and fingernails haven't stopped growing food hasn't the functioning is still going to going on naturally spontaneously and evidently and there's that you that thinks doing a lot weren't doing and are not doing even now anything about those things they're happening implying there is a greater power power higher than the first so called personal power which is which has got no power anyway it's functioning and living a lot it's rolling the earth around the sun right now it's causing your seasons to come right now and the tides to come in and out planets to implode and explode it's freezing and beating your heart it's doing all these things everything is the one essence living expressing as everything and you are that that's the thing to grasp on them i am that already i don't have to see through it don't have to find it i am that without the labels i put on i am that body i am that mind i am that person you're lost but i am that absolute what can you add to the absolute you get anything to it wouldn't be absolute and for the same time what can you take away from it take the least thing away from it wouldn't be absolute or as they call it in buddhism the great perfection what can you add to the perfect nothing what can you take away from the perfect nothing i tell you the great perfection is non-conceptual awareness it's that a innate awareness is living and expressing through you right now, doing everything without any concepts.
Concepts are the word. And we've learnt the word and believe in the word as the cause of all our psychological problems. And the word's not even real. Utilise it and don't let it utilise you. You can use the word and when it's telling you you're not good enough, or fearful, or anxious, or I can't do this, I can't do that, it's got you. There's a simple injunction offered in Genesis that may help. Be still and know that I am God. Yeah, that's exactly right. And Simone Weil, the French philosopher, offered some counsel that may help as well, where she says attention is the red light.
And I think that's a good thing. I think that's a good thing. I think it's the fairest and purest form of generosity. And if we learn to give attention with that in mind, as it were, it can purify the being of the dross that has accumulated. Beautiful. This is beautiful. I love that. Yeah. Yeah, don't waste your attention. Don't spend it in a stupid way. Don't ... In a frivolous manner, yes. Don't feed the wind. weeds in the garden, feed the flowers. And you can't be attention. What you can do is recognize your inattention. And from that point in the recognize your inattention, it must be from attention.
So you automatically go there to attention. Yeah and especially when you see the attention running to fuel all the fears of future, what is going to happen, that's imagination, that's terror, that's narrative, and that is such a waste of energy. This is such a drain and it's such a certain shortcut to suffering. Take future, be afraid, think what can go wrong. Yeah, that's a brilliant, very, very good, effective recipe for suffering. Okay. Thank you. Well, if you actually really see like, like you say, Jim, attention as a gift, as a precious, something that, yeah, like what you say, generosity, be generous, give your attention to what's worth it.
And present moment is always available, rather than feeding the imaginary fears or brooding in the, in the shames and guilt of past. Yeah. And it doesn't mean not to be self reflective, because we don't really have a saying, the self self reflection comes or it doesn't come. But yeah, there is always a possibility to just just bring it back to, to seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, being, being, knowing that in that what is really happening, not the thinking, well, thinking is also happening. But if we are not focused on just thinking as happening, but into the reality, then we are not really thinking. Yeah. And we are not thinking into the content of the thinking.
And we are not seeing the images. That's, yeah, that's the second generation dream within the dream and then usually nightmare. Yeah. Peter, you want to say something? Yeah. It's quite amazing with that awareness of inattention is attention, as Bob said, and suddenly you're aware you're inattentive and you're attentive again, and the thoughts just seem to dissolve. It's extraordinary. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it's extraordinary. Suddenly was that attention coming back? The thoughts just dissolve. Yeah. Like that. They don't really exist, they they kind of got a provisional existence, but when you suddenly come back to attention, all of thoughts are just dissolving. Its an amazing ability of attention somehow to dissolve thinking.
Mind, you know? Yeah. That's the same thing with resistance, in resistance conflict and. Yeah. That's the same thing. This is a disease constantly. It can't be non-resistance, but you can recognise your resistance from the point of non-resistance. Then you're out of it. If you know, you know you don't. You can be in resistance, we have been most of our lives, but you haven't recognised it. As soon as you recognise, oh I'm resisting then. You're recognising from its opposite. Yeah. Yeah, but I like what you said Peter about, you know, that quality that bringing everything back to presence has. Bringing the attention back to life, to home, where it belongs.
And the thoughts become so insignificant. They're a joke. They just dissolve, start with attention because they just can't, they don't have a fuel anymore. Can I say something? Please. When you were talking about, love and light Bob. Oh, you know that we're love and we're light. A memory was triggered here about a song that I wrote when I was 18. And it was, I'll just tell you the words of the song. It was, I saw an old man on the road. I asked him his story. He told me. We talked for hours and hours. And then I saw that love light. Explode. So when you come to the love light land, where everything flows.
When you come to the love light land, everything's going to be all right. I know. Beautiful. Happy birthday. Yeah, beautiful. Thank you. That was a bit preffered there, Jane. Yeah, beautiful. Yeah, it just shows that there's no time. So I was 18 when I wrote that. And yet I know it was written about Bob. Amazing. Yeah, and I'm now 67. And what Bob said then just triggered that. And I remembered those words. So everything's spontaneous. Yeah. And there's no time. Yeah. And yet there's a knowing. There's a knowing. There's a knowing. That's all. Jane, what do you say about the train? I forget. What? What do you say about the train and the station?
Oh, the train and the station. That's a Paul Hedeman quote. The train, the station is who we really are. And the train are the thoughts that come and go. The station is always there. And it never moves. So that presence awareness is like the station that never moves. And the thoughts, as so eloquently put by Peter before, they just come in and out and dissolve and come in and out and dissolve and come in and out. That's the trains, if you like, to use that metaphor. You know? Yeah. So another way of putting it is we are the contact. We are the text. Not the content.
Yeah. Wow. I just feel so blown out about that. Thank God. Yeah, thanks for that analogy, Jane. I like that. I've heard it before, the train and the station. Because now I can laugh at myself, which I do anyway. I laugh constantly. I can imagine that train coming in with all the thoughts. And you'll laugh at this cat and ball, you know, trying to see me standing there to stop the train all the time. Trying to stop that train. Trying to stop the... That's a good analogy. Oh, you know, are we going to see that one next time when stupid thoughts come along? Yeah, brilliant.
Brilliant. That's actually really wonderful for you, Judy, to actually see how futile it is trying to stop the thought, trying to stop it. It's just complete. Not only you don't have that much power, you don't have any. It will smash you and scramble you, the train. But only you are the body. You as a station are completely unaffected. So that depth of you, who you truly are. The tomato sauce, how you like to call it. That is not... Yeah, she's making a fun of a word, source. Source. Source sounds like sauce. So anyway, who you are is a station in that analogy. You don't need to stop the thoughts.
Just let them come and go. Who cares? Hey, everyone. Before Bob goes to bed, will anyone join me and we'll sing that happy birthday song? Will you join me, Jane? Come on, Megan, Sally. Come on. I've got a terrible voice. Come on, Richard, Peter. We did it. Yeah, come on. Come on, Michael. Hey, man. You did it good before. One, two, three. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Bob. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Thank you. Happy birthday, dear Novi. Happy birthday, yes. Happy no birthday, Bill. I see Michael. Give him a hug from all of you. Thank you, Jack.
Happy celebration of life itself. Happy celebration of life itself manifesting in that unique pattern of energy we adore and love and love and love and love. We just want to cuddle. Well said, Jane. Beautiful. Never born. Never born. Never die. Yeah. Nothing happened. Love you, Bob. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. See you these holidays, Bob. Thank you, Jame. So does Michael. Love you. And Kat. And thank you. I love you, Kat. I love you. Thanks, Bob. Thanks, Kat. Thank you for the wonderful day. Love you. Bye. Love you.
Bye, Jame. Thank you for my gift. I love you. Bye. Love you. Bye. The cake was delicious, Kat. Cut that. Yeah. Yeah, I wanted to try that cake. Yeah. It was hot. Yeah. Just massive. He's app GM. Next time. Yeah, I'll make it happen. Next time. Yeah. We'll have a big COVID celebration when we can all go to Bob's house. Yeah. And we'll do all sorts of things. Yay. Yay. We'll come and invade your place. Looking very psychedelic there, Michael. Very psychedelic, Michael. I've got even better than that, you know. The trouble is if I don't have that on, I've got such a bright light and a mirror behind me, you won't see anything.
Oh, yeah. That's good. I'd rather see that. Yeah. But you should check this one out. It's even better. What's this one? It'll come on. It's like fractals. Oh. Yeah. That's cool. Oh, that's a good one. Richard used to come on some galaxy. Richard, will you come on some galaxy? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What was it? It was dark. It was dark. It's not a galaxy. Nor the solar ellipse. How are you, Richard? Very good. How are you, Richard? Good to see you. I'm enjoying seeing you all again. Yeah, me too. Been too long. I didn't recognize you with the beanie. Ah ha.
Ah ha. Yeah. thought you were going to burst forth and sing The Age of Aquarius, Michael. Ah ha. Anybody, love you. Take care, all. Bye. Good night, all. Thanks, Kat. Good night, Bob and Kat. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye, Bob, and Kat. Have a great night. Have a great night. Have a great sleep. We'll do. Thank you. Thanks a lot. You, too. Thank you. It just came in, so I don't know, Betty, if you hear us or not, but we are just closing down the meeting. It usually starts at 7 30, one and a half hour ago.
So you may wish Bob happy birthday, and then we will go. Yeah. And this has been recorded? Yes, it has been recorded. It automatically records words. Okay. Very good. Yeah, I don't usually put them up anywhere, the Zoom meetings, because I don't know, it's just so many of them. But if you like, I can put it on YouTube if you'd like to listen to it again or something. Yes, I would. Okay, I'll put it up. Hello, Bob. Yes. Hi, it's Mandy. Just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Thank you, Mandy. And we have a couple of messages here. Kavita is wishing you happy birthday also.
Kavita, wishing you happy birthday. And James, could you please repeat Simon the Beef your quote? I think it's... I think it's too late. Tass is gone. And talk about this team lead out. Oh, Kavita, we'll have to catch up on this one some other time. I'm really sorry. I didn't read it before. Happy birthday from Tony. And Megan, Nisargadatta said, the only way you can help someone is to take them beyond the need for the help. And Bob never looked back. Beautiful. That's true. And there is one from Barry. As far as I know, Nisargadatta meditated on the I am sense. The sense of being.
The sense of me and within three years, realized his true nature. Do you suggest doing that practise or just listening to the talks will do the shit? The sense of presence. Yeah. The sense of presence is the I am he's talking about. Yeah. So Barry is asking you, do you suggest what Nisargadatta is saying with the I am sense of presence as a practise? Sure. Yes. You don't have to practice it, just give it the recognition. Recognize that the I am is a sense of presence, it's not the words, it's not the thoughts, just staying with that thought. Anyone doesn't know that I am right now, that sense of beingness or presence is with you.
Stay with that without going into the concepts of I am. Yeah and the other part of the question, would you suggest that practice or just listening to the talks will do the same? I don't suggest any practice because who's the practicer? Yeah. Who's the one that practices? Just to seeing it and doing the practice, it goes on by itself. You've got the personal idea, there's a person, got to repeat this or practice that, well yeah it's still in the same old trap. The scene that's going on naturally, just like the breathing, like the Sour Amaranth, is going on every breath of the heart. So you have to take your Sour Amaranth, Sour Ham, Sour Ham means I am he.
Or put it the other way, if you start with the Ham, Sour, that's he I am. You can reverse your Chaygan if you listen to it quietly and hear what it says. And ultimately I would say it is always the Sadguru which is the inner guide. Like if there is any resonance happening when you are listening to the talks, it will just guide you there. You just won't be able not to. That's how it happens. If the listening to the talk is only on the top of the head, only intellectual, doesn't really do much, or it's just the entertainment for the mind, that will also be known.
If not straight away, that will become clear. But what Bob says, recognising that I am-ness, moment to moment, doesn't have to be over time, doesn't have to be certain amount of time, it is just out of time. Recognising, giving the attention to that primary I am-ness, the being, which is flavourless, tasteless, shapeless, formless, but it's undeniable. It's always there. You can't not be. You can't try and stop being. It is always, the being is always there. It's just that the attention is scattered around all the thoughts, images, and sounds, and everything else, that this basic screen doesn't really get an recognition. Recognising that basic screen or that emptiness, on which everything appears, that presence or existence, without which nothing would be possible, yeah, that is, and it always happens within here.
It's always like one could say it is, you say you have to see it by yourself, nobody can see it for you, nobody can do it for you. So, that inquiry is almost one could say, personal journey, if not for the fact that there is no journey and there is not actual experience. and there is no person but that has to be recognized that's why you can't see it from yourself because we're all things you and i are things can something come from no thing so how can one thing tell another thing what to do yeah but there isn't anything animating life essence within you intelligence energy that's living and beating out that knows but it takes you it's taking you to looking at this stuff for starters taking you away from the ordinary function once that was got you already but you don't realize that you'll still be out there doing the same old same old as you did for years it moves you where you've got to go same it took me it took me 15 years to get to the masada and i didn't hadn't even heard of him when i went to india and i didn't want to go and see anybody else i was with looked on andrew at the time they were a very troubled and a very troubled man and they were just spoiled and looked at the situations took me beyond that people pointed them out to me but i didn't want to go there i was in i went into a bookshop one day and looking for a book to read and i could generally pick out a book i figured out reading a couple of pages it will resonate with me i thought i've got to read this all the books like nothing resonated so i'm walking out the door and a fellow behind the counter said you've got to read this book Now I'd been offered that book at the Ash Ram many, many times, being a while to the Guru and not to the Bec.
This time I said, well, this is too much of a coincidence. I'm seeing it too often. I'd better follow that what it's pointing to. I did. Picked up a couple of pages and read it and it resonated and his address was in the front so I went round there straight away. And he told me the same thing I'd heard many times. You're not the body, you're not the mind. But this time I heard it from him. And I said I'll never be caught up in the mind again. I walked out the door and I was, but it wasn't the same. I had seen through it.
And once you see through something you never tasted it, you can't go back to the old ways. You can never truly believe the old ways again. So you'd investigate again and have a mother look. And each time I did it, it would get clearer and clearer. Like when the clouds dissolve around the sun, there's more clarity in the sun. And when the clouds are in the sky, or when the thoughts dissolve in your head, there's more clarity there. And sometimes I've got to kick the start of my mind into thinking again to get some trust. But the thinking can go on and I'm not bound into it.
And the energy of belief doesn't go into it to the same extent. So it's not the bother it used to be. It can be useful in some occasions, but it can be self-destructive in a lot of others. Just leave it as it is. Yeah. Another one here, regarding Bob's moment of self-realization. If you could talk about it a little, what that particular moment was like. Did Nisargadatta say to you that you are not the body and suddenly there was this spontaneous shift, downing upon. That's exactly what you were just explaining now. Yes. And I think that's it. Yeah. Yeah, that was very... Yeah. And this was an hour ago.
I mean, an hour and 20 minutes ago. 20 minutes. Yes. But you just said about, you just explained that one. Yeah. So happy. Okay. So we're going to be here back again in a couple of days. So if you want to join us, you're very welcome. Very good. Good night, everyone. Yeah. Good night. Thank you. Love you all. Have a great day. Thank you. Good to see you. Good to spy
