Morning everybody, if there is anybody there. It's what they call, for want of a better term, non-duality. Understand non-duality, one without a second. Everything is that. You can't get anything simpler than that. Then that, the great word or the great mantra, I am that, starts to make a bit of sense. Because that is all there is. Everything is that. That's the chair, that's the carpet, that's the tree, that's the flower, that's you, that's me. Pointing to the one essence of everything. How it pattern, shapes and forms and expresses in all its type, variety and diversity. But it's still only and ever the one. So can you or I?
Can I be anything other than that? If it's only the one. So what's all this problem about a search? Trying to be and trying to become. So, drop the search, stop the trying. Settle back into the natural state. Which is breathing in right now. It's beating your heart. It's growing your hair and your fingernails. Digesting your food. Replacing the cells in your body. Caught all quite naturally and effortlessly. That's how it's always and ever been. But our problem has been, instead of saying, I am that absolute. We've taken ourselves over. I am that person. I am that person. I am that person. That individual. That separate entity.
And when you look into the person, it comes from persona, the mask. Meaning we've got a mask of concepts. Mask of words. Which we've obscured our true nature. What it says in the Hing Sing Ming, a Buddhist text, which is a beautiful one. It says, stop talking and thinking and there's nothing you'll not be able to know. It's what we think. Take the words to be real. Think in concepts, words, ideas, images. And Sagada tells you, nothing can trouble you except your own imagination. Break that word imagination down to imagine. Break that down to image in. And that's what we're doing. We're creating conceptual or mental images.
Taking it to be real and getting stuck with the images. Recognize that is what was going on all the time. What we say all the time. But even that, look into that, investigate time. And see that's what's going on. And see there's no such thing. It's all a spontaneous emanation. Spontaneous happening. Occurring right in the immediacy. The immediacy is spontaneous. It hasn't got time to be past or future. Because it's always immediate. Always spontaneous. And again, in the belief that we are this individual, this person, this separate entity, isn't that based on time? I was born. I had a beginning. I'm growing older. I'm aging.
I'll end. I'll die. All concepts meant about time. But have a look. Investigate. Dig into the memory. Recall it. Whatever you can. And you realize you can't recall any beginning to it. Because you had no words or labels to put on the beginning. And you realize it's something. Way back there. That knows. Now. It's been the knowing or a wearing all the way through. A wearing. Or being aware. But aware is just a concept also. It's a knowingness. It's always with you. Have a look. Are you unaware right now? And you realize, no, I'm not unaware. So if you're not unaware, mustn't you be aware?
But what's the idea or this concept we've got about becoming aware? Or becoming conscious? You're not unconscious right now. And you might conceptualize a time when you were unconscious or out of it. But even that. The knowing. That that was there. It was so-called. In a seeming past. Realizes that that's that essence that hasn't changed. It's always and never been so. The great perfection is non-conceptual, ever fresh awareness. Non-conceptual. Without a thought. Without, ever fresh. It's spontaneous. It's beginning right now. And it's presence. Presence. Prior to the senses. Pre-sense. Where the senses are not labeled. As good, as bad, or happy, sad. Or anger, or fear, or depression.
Pre-sense is aware. Consciousness appears on that awareness. Consciousness is an existence. A knowing that you are. And that existence is utterly aware. That it exists. That's all it is. Totally aware. And ever fresh aware. Totally aware of. Of that existence. Of the being. And you know that, don't you? Because aren't you reading right now? To say you are not. You'd have to say I am not. You can say that. But the very fact of saying it. You know there is something there. That's enabling it to be said. So start from the fact. Now if you don't. Recognize it already. Start from the fact that you are already that.
Don't start from the fact that I. The false belief that I am a person. A human being. That needs or wants. Or has to become realized. Or enlightened. And the very realizing or recognizing that I am that. Is the realization. Is what you need. Or the knowing. And the being. You know the. You are aware or knowing the being. And that is existence. Consciousness. And bliss. Being. Knowing. And loving to be. Sat Chit Ananda. Nama Rupa. The name. And the form. The labels we put upon ourselves. Are as they say. Maya. Or illusion. Those two factors. The name and the form. What is my name?
My name is Bob. Who told me? My parents told me. And I took on that label. And believed in it. But I can't do much with the label. Bob. But what have I done? I've added concepts. Words. Ideas. Based on past events. Experience and conditioning. Past events. Events that are dead and gone now. I'm still adding the label to. That I am this person. This persona. This mask. But it's been investigated here. And the knowing. That the person is not the reality. And that's. If anyone's read I Am That. It's argued that it's got a chapter in the book. Called that. The person is not reality.
And that's. That's what I'm saying. The person is not the reality. Now if the person is not the reality. It must be a fiction. And the person. Is that. That. Egoic. Idea. Or concept. I have about myself. We're told that ego. Is a problem. And above all. We must be rid of this. Self-centre. We must be rid of this selfishness. We must. Be rid of it. But if you look at it. Investigate it. And you'll find. That it's not the reality. It's the fiction. And the person. Is that. That. Egoic. Idea. Or concept. Investigate it. You'll see. It was never there in the first place.
That's a belief was taken on when the capacity of reasoning developed in us. For the first couple of years of your life you didn't have that capacity of reasoning. Look at a little child. And see. Before it learns any words. It's just seeing. Hearing. Tasting. Touching. Smelling. Functioning. Moving. The activities are going on. But it's not relating them to any labels. Not relating them to any labels. to a me or I or a good boy or a bad boy or girl or whatever everything is just as it is ever fresh through the learning of the words the words are all labels though the words are not the thing and realize that that every word you've ever spoken however like to speak and being learned it's been picked up along the way it's not something you were born with and when you investigate the word look into it you see it's not the thing it's not the thing it's we're in take the word water can you drink the word is the word water the thing it's not points out to what we're the liquid the hydrogen oxygen coming together that was as not the liquid and becomes the liquid when it merges together the two that's true two gases and the word fire is not the fire and the word I is not what I am I am NOT the label I am NOT the word and to see that with a little bit of an investigation and in seeing it and knowing to be real seeing the falseness of it all of how it functions you're going to continue to see it and you're going to continue to see it and you're going to continue on believe that you are this persona this mask it won't there'll be no need to you'll settle back and just settle back into your natural state and let the life essence that's breathing you right now beating your heart right now growing your hair and fingernails digesting your food quite naturally inevitably enabling thoughts feelings and emotions to arise if that life essence wasn't in that body it'll be a corpse and they have all those organs in it the eyes the ears the heart the lung the throat and all the kidneys all over but they wouldn't be a bit of good to you without the life essence functioning through it now what does that point to are you this personal life oh yeah the body line or I'm just a body mind and everything else reliant on the functioning of that life of the expression of that life the life is there first and the life is transient it's constantly changing and that's why the body has changed from a baby to a young child to a young boy or girl or teenager an adult are you a young age of a middle age and old age and are falling away and falling back into the pure natural cognizing emptiness nothing has been gained nothing's been lost patterns of form perhaps applied around patterns of change only pattern shapes and form but it's the life essence itself that gives them gives us that some sense of life and that's what we're talking about here and that's what we're defining here is the essence of being aware and alive and knowing and we take the idea and concept that I am doing the livingness I am the life I am the livingness I am the being but innately again we know there is something greater than that life not the lot greater than life but greater than the persona we've formed the word god To give it a name, we've given it a title, we call it God.
The greater power, or the higher power. Not realizing that it is the only power, it is the absolute power, and being the absolute, you're not separate from it. It tells you in Isaiah, in the Bible, be still and know. Be quiet and let the stillness come true. Be still and know that I am God. I am, as the believer, is God, this godliness. God's just a label, tells you in the Bible. In the beginning it was the Word. The beginning didn't start until we learned words. And the Word was really God, the Word was God. That Word, God, is just a word we put on because omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience, higher power, it's all sorts of different labels, Shiva, Shakti, a million other different names, Allah, Buddha, all the different labels we put on, all different words to express, trying to express the one thing, the indivisible and the inexpressible.
Indivisible. You're not divided into the many, seemingly it might seem so, but it's the one. Patterning, shaping, forming and expressing as the many. And it continues to do that. And so it can get the take on all the different patterns then, how's the time going. So that's what I'm pointing to. Now, I don't know who's looking or... Yeah, there is a question from Tanya. She says, sorry, this may be an odd question, but is it normal to lose your temper slightly when you're very tired, even though you know there is no separate entity that exists? Thought is making too much of a transient sensation and thoughts laugh.
But just wanting to clarify. Yeah, of course. All the sensations, feelings and emotions will still be there. They're part of the functioning of this life. Yeah. But when the energy of belief goes into them and we keep them there, instead of letting them pass, they all pass very quickly because they're transient. But when we fixate on all this anger and so on and resist it, put in conflict, trying to fight it or trying to get rid of it, not want it, keeping it there with the concepts, then it becomes the problem. But like everything else in nature, it's transient if left as it is. It'll come up and it might be there for a reason.
Do what it's got to do and move on. But we don't allow that to happen. We put the old label on it instead of seeing it fresh and new. And this old label is a dead label, a dead image. But if you see it fresh and new, don't put the old label on it. You might have a different, a new label to put on it and see it in a different light. They'll come up and do what's necessary for them to do. But if you don't see it, you don't know what's going to happen. And you don't know what's going to happen. They'll move on fairly quickly.
Just the same as we call this today. We think it's the same as yesterday and every other day. But when you see it's fresh and new and transient, and you're not putting the old past labels into it, of what happened yesterday and carrying them on, you know, it's a totally different day. Yes, so there is a comment from Rohan. Good morning. Good morning, Bob and Kat. Could we say in the beginning was the word also points to the fact that without the word, there is no beginning and also no end? Yes, that's what I'm pointing out. Very often Bob says that exactly this way. Yeah.
Yeah. How can I say I began when I can't? And you can't say you began because you don't remember because you had no words. So if you haven't got a beginning and you can't, you won't know when your last breath will be. You can't say you have an ending. You must be eternal. That's the eternity, not a beginning and an end, not a billion light years or so, which had a beginning and must have an end. Anything that has a beginning will have an end. But eternity is beginningless and endless. It's spontaneous. And that spontaneous knowing that's expressing through you as you right now is eternity itself.
It's the absolute itself. And you can't be anything other than that. Though we've taken ourselves to be other than that. And that's our problem. There is no other. One without a second, not two. Two means other than one. Yes, so I'm just going to jump in and ask something. There is no more questions for a moment, but just so to give you a hand. The comment that I had for Tanya, I mean, Bob answered that. You answered it. You answered that beautifully. But it's just to actually adopt the position that whatever is happening is always natural. So if it is happening, that means it's natural.
If it's happening that when you are tired, you get a little bit irritable or a little bit, you know, that's the nature of your body. That is natural. Even though there is no entity, you can see how, well, I can tell you, we had a stray cat visiting a couple of days ago again. I don't know if the cats were tired or not, but there is no entity in the body of the cat. And the reaction was quite profound. You know, the whole hair standing up and... So it happens. It's natural. Whatever happens is natural. And whatever happens never needs the entity because entity is fictitious.
If you believe there is an entity responsible for the action or you don't believe there is entity responsible for the action, there is no entity anyway. Even if you believe it is, there isn't. So there is never an ego responsible for anything in the world because it doesn't exist. It's only the narrative, the commentary, the belief that plays the ego and gives it that power. And of course, by believing it, it is experienced as reality. But that's all beliefs. They have the same sort of seeming power. If you believe in a flat earth, you may experience flat earth. So that's it. And the one on no words, no beginning.
Yeah, beautiful. Glad that it was your own insight because Bob quite often makes that transition laughingly, saying that, yeah, sure, how there would be any beginning if you don't have a word to call it a beginning. There isn't one. But if you didn't hear him say it, but you actually found it yourself, that's even more of value because there are no private thoughts. Even when Bob came up with that insight, that's not his insight or his truth. There are thoughts. First of all, because there's no him. And second of all, because thoughts are just as much of the creatures of that vibrating pattern of energy as everything else in the world, as trees and organs and cells and noises and forms.
They're just forms of that energy. So there is no one to own them, that they are my opinions or my thoughts. It is only the story that makes it so. In reality, they just all are. Just as they are. I see there are more questions because I can't find them here. Yes, there is a question from Glenn. In the story of Bob, how long after Bob stopped resisting life or identifying with the appearances did full realization occur? Bob never ever did anything though he believed he did. And still not doing anything. Though there might be a no believing itself unraveling by itself. And I've got no say in the way it unravels.
I don't... Not a matter of stopping anything. It just naturally does so. Even though I say I stopped drinking, I stopped this and stopped that, I have never done a damn thing. Yeah. And you can't go around saying that. Nobody... Nobody crazy, yeah. Tanya says, Yes, it is natural whatever comes up. Thank you, Kat. I know there is no separate entity and there isn't one, even if thought says there is one. So, spot on. Thank you, Bob and Kat. Thank you, Tanya, for recognizing that. Julie says that we are both shining. Thank you, Julie. So, Rohan is saying, Nisargadatta made it clear that the so-called spiritual progress is also part of nature.
If a question, that's from Nisargadatta's dialogues, if all is a part of natural process, where is the need of effort? And Nisargadatta, even effort is part of it. When ignorance becomes obstinate and hard and the character gets perverted, effort and the pain of it becomes inevitable. In complete obedience to the nature, there is no effort. The seed of spiritual life grows in silence and darkness until its appointed hour. Yes, she says, when effort is needed, effort will happen by itself. And always being by itself, we take on the belief there is an effort maker. A me that is making the effort. There never was, never will be, or never could be.
Adrian, can there be a transition period? That is the question. Can there be a transition period from me to just bring awareness? Just being awareness, I'd imagine. Everything feels a lot looser and lighter over time. But at times it still feels like a subtle me. Well, the belief in me was reinforced day in, day out. From the time you first started to read, when you first learned the words, the energy and belief went into them without question. So, it's kind of natural that they keep, it keeps popping up after a while, after you've seen. But hasn't it lost its sting? If you see something as false, can you truly believe it again?
So it doesn't sting or hurt as much anymore. And the more it's seen through, the less attention given to it, just drops away of itself naturally. Inevitably. But up until that point, we're constantly reinforcing it every day and making it seem more real than it ever was. Yeah. And when you read the book, it's not just about the story you have to deal with. It's about the situations that you're going through and the way you can feel it and the way you can feel it. And what's more, the more you listen to it, the more you feel it, the more deep you can feel it.
And to be real about that is really important. So, you should not think that by reading the book that you're still no longer normal, but just be real about it. Yes, I love it. That's really good. Yeah. Yeah, so I'll just add a word. Yeah, that's exactly right what you say, Rohan. Even in the idea of inventing a transition period, there may be a subtle suffering or subtle guilt that, oh yeah, how long is that going to last? Or how long till I will be completely clear and the me, a subtle me, is not going to show up anymore? Those are all dangerous sort of stories.
I mean, of course, not dangerous if taken lightly, but they are stories. Because enlightenment or the realization or liberation or understanding is happening to no one. So if there is no one there, there is clarity. And if there is a cloud there, the clarity is obscured by the cloud. But it doesn't mean that it has disappeared. It's just not being experienced fully. And that. Is only moment to moment thing. Like the sky, like the weather. You know, the clear sky is today. And it doesn't have to be there in a year time or in a month time. So even if the subtle me or subtle feelings, sensations, emotions or anything that shows up.
Will come into the picture. And grab the attention. And carry the attention with it. The clear sky is obscured. Even though there is no me. Let's say the body is focusing on a nice yummy meal. The attention goes into the senses of tasting. Or maybe the senses of background music. So the clarity, the nothingness is not being acknowledged as such. Because the attention is busy with the sensations of the tastes. There is no suffering in it. But the clouds of the tastes or sounds. Are there on the sky. And the clouds of the sounds. Are there on the sky. And should we say there it is a natural state?
Everything is. Even if attention goes to the story of me. But when the attention goes to the story of me. The sufferings come with it. If the attention goes into the immediacy. Whatever is happening in hearing, seeing, tasting, touching, smelling. There is usually no suffering. Because suffering comes from the narrative, from the story. So immediate functioning. The living, using the memories, using planning, using the eyes, the ears, the nose. It is effortless sort of a living. And it is happening by no one, nobody does it. Life does it. When the narrative comes on top. That's also natural. That's just another sense. Seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, smelling, thinking.
That's just another part of functioning. But if the attention is trapped in the story. Of the narrative of the poor me. That is guilty. Or is responsible. Or shouldn't happen this way. Or life shouldn't be the way it is right now. The music shouldn't be that low or that loud. And the soup should be hot. That's suffering. That is unnecessary. But only when too much attention is trapped in it. Because that means it is believed. Into existence. And is serious now. When it is believed, it is real. It is serious. When it is not believed. When the thought comes, oh the soup is too cold.
But that thought is laughable. There is no belief in it. The thought is known for what it is. The thought. There is no suffering. And yet, what is the difference really? The difference is the amount of trapped attention. Or the amount of belief. Because if the thought is really believed. Now it is happening to the subject. So now there is me in the picture. That the cold soup is happening to me. Or the weather is happening to me. So now the division is created. When there is just empty space. And thoughts, feelings, emotions, sensations. Floating through that empty space. But there is no assertion of I am not that feeling.
I am here experiencing it. There is no division in it. There is no problem. There is no problem in thoughts. In feelings. In tastes or smells. In anything. Without the division. It is just the content of whatever is happening. The life is one. The one life is exhibiting that particular landscape. There is no me versus the landscape. Or me versus the world. That is easy and natural. And even though painful. It may be painful at times. But there is no suffering. And there is no one who has a problem. No one who needs to change it. Who wants to or needs to fix it. Or find anything.
That is why Bob says call off the search. The search. The search is a subtle assumption. That something is not right. That I am not right. I have to find something to complete me. So that subtle assumption that there is me that needs something added. And there is something else also to find. That assumption says as it is the life here is no good. Says who? Says the seeker. And the truth, recognition of the truth. Is recognition that life as it is. Is just as it is. It can't be any different because it isn't. Just the way it is is the way it is. And you can say it is perfect.
Or you can say it is imperfect. Or you can say it should or it shouldn't. But hey. Down to earth reality. Is already this way. So to have story about it. Is just to prolong the suffering. And the story again is always in the imagination. That's right. Stop talking and thinking. There is nothing you will not be able to know. When no discriminating thoughts arise. The old mind ceases to be. And I will see if there is more comments. And it tells you in the finish of the Hensing Wing. It says words. The way is beyond language. For in it there is no yesterday. No tomorrow.
And no today. Not just yesterday, tomorrow and today. But no conceptualizing whatsoever. When it is beyond words. And the great perfection is non-conceptual awareness. Awareness without any other concepts. Or as they say. The absolute. The great perfection and the absolute. Two different labels you put on the same thing. Absolute is totally absolute. Nothing added. Nothing taken away. And you, I and everything else. Is already that. The self. How many selves are there? There is only one self. All the scriptures will tell you. The Atman and the self. No personal self. When we make it a personal self. It is my self. And that my self becomes the egoic.
Person. Person is not reality. And the ego is the total fiction. Yes, so Mukti says. It seems as though the me sense. Shows up in the nervous system. And then either the mind adds a story. Or we accept the sensations. And they move through. If we had no story about the nervous system sensations. Then we would have no sense. And we would have no sense. And we would have no sense. No me identity. Based on the language we have learned. Yes, there is another one. From Tanya. I know most of what the non-dual books. And the thought I know this already. And know experientially there is no one.
Maybe just stop reading the books. And just look at the actual experience of now. There already is no one. So I am not the one. I am the one. I am the one. I am the one. I am the one. There is no one. So nothing more to do. Not that I am doing. Or not doing any of this. It is happening by itself. Tanya has never done anything. Yes. Why bother taking delivery of it. Why bother taking delivery of it. Have a look and see. Who is Tanya? Who is Tanya? Are you the body? Are you the mind? Are you the persona? Is it that absolute intelligence energy or awareness.
That is expressing through that pattern. As words, thoughts, ideas and images. Calling and putting the label on. I am Tanya. Take the word Tanya off. I am the absolute. So how do you go with that? When you realise absolute is the totality. Which way can I move? That is going to make it any better, any worse. Or get out of it. You can't. You can't. So leave it unfold as it is. Ever fresh. Ever new. Rohan says, Such a clear pointing. Thanks Kath. The seeker identity can in the fact be the biggest trap of attention. There can be so much pride in being a seeker.
Thinking oneself to be so great and noble. It is a lovely story but not the truth. Good. Excellent. And Mukti says, There is no such thing as a seeker. There is no such thing as a seeker. Even accepting implies that there is someone doing something. Yes. No acceptance, no rejection. Just a spontaneous function. It is hard to talk here because seeing nobody. Seeing no thing. Hearing no thing. Just the sights and sound around me in this room. It is just like talking to myself. But there is no personal self to talk to. So it is easy to be silent. Sitting silent. So Tanya says, I am the absolute is closer to the truth than the label Tanya.
Exactly. I am not contained in this body. I am not in the thoughts. I am not Tanya. Yes, take the labels off and there is just what actually is. Beautiful. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Beautiful. So Tanya, the so called Tanya doesn't need to do anything anymore. But the doing will happen. So Tanya says also, hopefully face to face meeting will resume in few months. Will you still live stream the meetings on your Silent Bob Non-duality Melbourne page? Yes, we will. I mean, we had only very few people to actually ask when the restrictions were down. It was only four or five people who wanted to come home.
Everyone was quite comfortable with Zoom meetings because they didn't have to drive here. So we didn't really push for coming back into the one-on-one, actually the space. Because one-on-one are allowed. So if you would like to have one-on-one session with Bob on Skype or even come here, they are still kind of within the restrictions. And we have all the sanitizers everywhere. So we are safe. And yes, we will be streaming from Facebook page. And Julia says, one-on-one was the best decision I ever made. Yes, me too. If you can say it was your decision, it just happened. And now, God says, from whom the narrative self is talking if there is no one?
From whom the narrative self is talking if there is no one? Words just appear. Vibration, energy is functioning. Appears to come through this pattern which has been formed to express through as sounds, as vibration. No one is talking to anyone. Speaking or talking seemingly happens. But just the same is the silence, is the stillness. There is that subtle vibrating primary sound. Om. Who is speaking that? Who is saying that? And that, when that resonates, you hear the vibration. Well the same life or subtle vibration that is living you comes out as words, sounds, ideas and images. And that is somebody or someone doing it. But it is still only the totality that can express in all these ways as words, as sounds, as screams, as yells, as explosions, as volcanic eruptions, any way at all.
Or as beautiful music. All sound, all vibration, all intelligence, what I call from one bit of a label, is the energy. Intelligence is knowing. And have a look at this manifestation. Isn't it? Patterning, shaping, forming, intelligently, the beautiful different trees, shrubs, flowers, birds, animals, humans, architecture, everything that goes on, being formed. It is an intelligence diffusing everything. And that intelligence is knowing. And knowing, the ING in it, is an activity. It is something that is going on right now. Going, knowing. It is a vibration. Activity of knowing. Intelligence, energy. And there is nobody who is not knowing right now. Even if you believe you don't know and not knowing, there is still that knowingness that will enable you to think it or say it.
From whom is the narrative happening? From whom is digesting happening? It doesn't have to be anyone there. Like if you think of a baby that was first born, it didn't have any words, so it didn't have narrative. But it still had digestion. And it doesn't need anyone to be there in the head or in the heart who does the speaking. And if it giggles or cries, that sound, that vibration. And see how the body is completely connected with the environment. It doesn't scream without the reason. It needs to be prompted to gurgle, scream or whatever. It doesn't, like, does there have to be anybody to hear the sounds outside?
The sounds of the traffic? No. Believing in entity is not necessary for functioning to happen. If the belief in the entity stops, hearing is still going to happen. Hearing of the traffic or hearing of the story, the narrative. Because the narrative is usually so unconscious. It's so repetitive, boring, sort of like an old CD record that is just broken and is repeating itself. I don't know who calculated it, but I remember some research saying that 85 to 90% of thoughts are recirculating, the same thoughts we had yesterday, just a boring sort of commentary going on. It's not that someone does it. Every word we've ever spoken or would like to speak has been spoken before.
That's right, yeah. I can see if I can get it on my phone now. Yes, we have a couple of other comments. People who actually did have one-on-one with you on Skype and it changed their life. Jesse commented that it did him. Good morning, Jesse. Is he on there? Yes, he's on there. We'll have to catch up again shortly. Not that he needs, but just to keep the connection. Yes. It builds up the friendship. Yesterday we had a chat with a friend that you did hair also over phone or Skype years back. Two and a half hour chat is just a free flow of love because she doesn't have any questions and there's nothing to answer.
There's nothing to... There's no need to compete or impress or have any sort of agenda in the communication. So those types of communication are just so pristine and beautiful. And of course, you know, the one-on-one session which initially was a contract, now becomes a beautiful friendship. And there's nothing more beautiful than friendship with a smile. So now we have few more people who can see us, which is good. And they send more greetings. And Tania says she will schedule a one-on-one on Skype. Yeah, do that. If you struggle with... It doesn't have to be a contract. It doesn't have to be donation. He's here to help and indiscriminately he does.
And I've seen quite a few people who have benefited greatly. Their life has transformed. And their suffering dropped off. Including myself. Ben. I like what Mukti said about the me being a sense showing up in the nervous system. Outside of thought or concept, you can't find a boundary in direct experience between the sense of me and all other sensations in experience. Yeah. Beautiful. Amarnath. Morning greetings for vibrations and old patterns, storms and any end though they decrease. Yeah, it's probably typo somewhere. Perhaps I would imagine it is about the old patterns and storms maybe ending or decreasing. Yeah, which is probably the insight here. Yeah, I think that's a good point.
I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. Yeah, I think that's a good point. Yeah, I think that's a good point. That's what Mukti is sharing and that's a good insight. Yes, that is what Adrian was mentioning in the transition period. When you kind of feel that the old patterns still revisiting and still taking you for a little ride. The ride is not as profound, it's not as strong, it's not as intense but it's still habitually grabbing that attention for a little trip. Yeah, it is but the habits of attention definitely change and certain beliefs are completely inaccessible anymore. Can you ever believe yourself to be a worthless piece of shit or whatever you believed yourself to be 60, 70 years ago?
Not possible, is it? Totally not possible. The sense of worthlessness or any sort of... I don't know. I don't believe in unquestioned acceptance of something in the absence of reason. Yeah. If you question things and the false can't stand up to investigation all the beliefs you've had if they prove to be false they're no longer beliefs. That's right. Seen as facts, if they're beliefs you're not going to keep carrying on with them. Mm-hmm. Unless you want to stay with your old habit patterns. Yeah. So there is a good question here. How does self-love work together with non-duality? Is realization possible without self-love? What is self-love?
Is there anything other than love? If God is love if you so-called believe in God as love then love must be God. Yeah. And what is that self? And you can't love until you know you can't love another unless you love yourself. But the question is the first question is what is that self? Because if you believe you are the body that self that needs to be loved is the body there's nothing wrong in loving the body. If you love everything indiscriminately you love the body also and you kind of marvel in what a brilliant factor it is. But this is not who you are.
And that's the pattern through which it's expressed. Yeah. I mean ultimately it is also who you are if you are everything, a totality. You are also a body and a mind and a thoughts and a feelings and a trees and a planets and a galaxies and everything. But self-love is quite often associated with some sort of acceptance of the personality trait. And is that necessary? Well it kind of seems like it's almost the opposite. Most of the stories that you hear happening are the stories of acute depression, suffering, pain and self-hatred and self-pity which overloads to the point in which surrender happens. And it all depends what you take for the self.
If you're taken to be a personal self there's no personal self it's the one self, one Atman or one soul. Soul. Not S-O-U-L S-O-L-E. The lone, the one self. And that self is naturally the center of its life. Expressing itself, through itself, as itself. Not as the person, place or thing. Yes. Yes and another aspect of that question does liberation or non-duality or understanding or seeing through have any preconditions? No it doesn't. It doesn't have to be self-love, it doesn't have to be self-hatred, it doesn't have to be seeking effort, it doesn't have to be meditation, nothing is prerequisite because it is a natural state that is always already there.
Get that, be natural and see how it works out then without trying to do anything about it. You'll realize what that self is. And that, you know, that is love itself. Life is love. And it kind of, I would say it kind of happens simultaneously, the realization that everything is love and it doesn't include even the pattern, even the shape of the body or the character of the personality is not excluded from that realization that everything is a manifestation of that same one essence or one God or whatever you want to call it. But it's not that I have to fall in love with myself like be a narcissist or something because well it's kind of a movement, a little bit in the psychology of reframing situations and stories from the past and a little bit in the whole self-help movement that yes, I have to love myself.
And the assumption is that myself is the pattern. But, yeah. And the love is the ananda or the bliss of being. It's that three aspects of the one. Existence, consciousness, bliss or ananda or being. Loving to be. Oh yeah. We got Amarnath clearing the question. My question was complete end of patterns. Can you tell our personal experience through there is no person anymore? Though there is no person anymore. Can you tell your personal experience though there is no person anymore? You can tell through your personal experience. You can speak and tell whatever you like. There was no person ever. There was only belief in a person.
So all the qualities and capacities that you had when you believed to be a person are there when you stop believing to be a person. Believing to be a person is almost as if believing in a tooth fairy. When you stop believing in a tooth fairy can you still sing? Yeah, you can. So, the personal experience would be connected with the viewpoint that this body has. Because it does have location, seeming location in the dream. And it has seeming past in the dream. Can that be narrated? Surely it can. Whether the belief is there or the belief is not there. That's why this is one of the most astonishing things that Jeffrey Martin who is a researcher around finders he discovered.
That people who actually stop seeking because he calls them finders because they are not seekers anymore. Their life experience and the view and the perspective changed, flipped over completely because now there was no self to relate to. But for everyone around them husbands, children, employers, employees there was absolutely no change. They were as they always were. So you may be going and buying your bread rolls or your lottery ticket from someone who doesn't believe in self and you would never tell. Because they are no different to any other people. It's just that one belief that is different. We have the ideas that Buddha or Jesus they were super humans or they were glowing and they were all love and yeah they are beautiful ideas and they motivate people to be good and that's beautiful that's a social function that all the religions support on top of the of transmitting the message.
But the message really the natural state is us in nature. It doesn't mean that the cats and dogs and trees will be glowing because they don't believe in a personal self just sitting and driving that body. So yes, definitely the personal story can be said in many many different ways although the interest in saying that personal story may not be there. Let's try and ask how many times Bob was asked to give the interview to Buddha at the gas pump and that would probably bring him a lot more followers and a lot of more donations. He was just not interested in telling his personal story because it misguides people.
It may inspire people but what often happens as a byproduct is oh when is that going to happen exactly the same way to me? And that's not healthy because it never happens twice in the same way. Can I have a hand? You good? Okay, so we have a question from Matt Potter asking where is the me? Hey, you tell us. Tell us if you can find any. See if there is anywhere in the body out of the body, in the mind out of the mind, where is the me? Because we haven't found one just yet. We stopped seeking actually. Mind is the me. Mind is the past.
Mind is the me. There's no me in the present. Yeah. Yeah. And he says, when I love myself I'm doing it from the awareness. Like I would love a flower. It makes me smile. Yeah, isn't it beautiful that nothing is excluded and a self-hatred that you might once experience is just completely not there because there's just no base for it because there are no concepts that are believed about that self that it is inadequate comparing to some whatever the ideals or others. But love it because it is another way of that life showing up as a miracle of such a sophisticated complex deep pattern. It blows your mind.
And it doesn't matter because it's not yours anymore and it's as yours as everything else. Yeah. Makes me smile. Yeah, me too. Like I would love the flower. That's right. Yeah. God Potter asked, if energy comes and goes through the instrument body-mind, where is the border of the me? Brilliant question. Beautiful. In that question you already have the answer. You can't put the border. You can't. If you ever put any border it will only be conceptual. It will only be an idea. The thought. That's right. The thought is the body. The body is eating, is drinking, is exchanging electrical impulses, is creating and recreating the world and is responding to the world.
There is no boundary. Yeah, that's a good question. And now we got a couple of messages of love. We love you too, Megan. And Julia says, didn't Jesus chase people witty with a whip? Jesus chased people witty with a whip. Sure, yeah. Jesus remembered the story when he was turning the tables and making a mess in the temple. Yeah, I remember laughing with Julia about that story because it actually brings a character to Jesus. It makes him live, real. It makes him like your brother like Causing Miracles says. He is just as human in that moment as one can be. He has personal opinions and preferences and he thinks that the way these people changing money are providing for their families because they don't know any better and they are completely innocent in the way they were brought into this business.
But he's got a judgement and he is all about it. That is a beautiful, beautiful way to actually see that us enlightened or realized and close to God and one with God as he knew he was. And that is what he is talking about. Which means you are already that. It just really shows it fully, clearly the message. And then Julia says again Did Buddha abandon his family? I like how you usually answer it. I haven't been there. That same answer goes with Jesus. Yeah, that's what the story says. That's what the story about Buddha says that he abandoned his family. And I know quite a few Buddhas that I met in Course in Miracles Academy and many, many other paths of seeking.
I've been in Zen monastery in Vietnam for a couple of times and they were people who abandoned their families and it may happen this way. Absolutely. And I have a friend who is contemplating it right now. And she will not be a doer. Like Buddha hasn't been a doer. But I think it could be that it is just a story to illustrate the point. Who knows and who cares. Tanya says, there is nothing to get you are already free. Absolutely. It's only the belief that stands in the way to fully see it and experience it. Only the belief of not being free and belief with such a fierce devotion that makes it so real.
But questioning that one belief and there's nothing but freedom. Rohan says, of course sometimes the recognition can also lead to certain perceivable outer changes, right? All part of the natural functioning of course. Bob always says how people may sense that you have something that they want as in his case. Yeah, yeah, well I know what he means. When I mentioned Jeffrey Martin, that he discovered that a lot of people their immediate family didn't realize the profound change that happened within them when they realized that the self was a fiction. Yeah, it's hard to be a prophet in your own country and in your own family.
So it might actually happen it's nothing impossible to start with. And in Bob's case, you're totally right. I mean, I'd imagine his brothers and sisters wouldn't really know any difference. His stepchildren didn't really ever notice anything. But they were people from who heard him speak from the AA community who would come and say, look, I want what you have. I can feel it, I can sense it. There is a profound change. There is a peace. The anxiety is gone. The self-pity is gone. This can be sensed, absolutely. It's just funny how they both through. That it may be overlooked and it may not be overlooked.
And thank you for bringing up the other side. It's always good to never really take sides anywhere. I quote this guy and now you completed the picture that again, there is a totality and nothing's impossible. Rashtra Aman says it never happens twice the same way. Wow, thanks. Yes, isn't that true? Isn't that amazing? Not even fingerprints are the same amongst people. You'll never step into the same river twice. That's true. And actually seeing that can stop people in searching similar experiences to those who related it. You'll never breathe the same air in twice. And you will come again and again as a drop of rain like your favourite singer says, Johnny Cash.
Bob has this example about reincarnation. When that energy of life is released out of this body it's like a drop coming back to the ocean. Can you ever get the same drop out of the ocean now? That says it all about the possibility of that same pattern of energy reincarnating or incarnating. It just goes back to the ocean. And, yeah, just sidetracking. Amarnath says, what happens to power of memory, interest, belief after finding awareness? If it's necessary to be there you'll remember what needs to be rewritten. Life carries on the same way. But there's no personal entity living life. Life is living our life and expressing.
Expressing as life through everything. Yeah, and it's again hard to tell the friend that we were talking with yesterday for a couple of hours. She's an artist. She's a painter. And the realisation happened and a lot of search of expression in this exquisitely beautiful watercolours happened. And then it stopped. And then it may happen again or it may not happen again. This is about the interests or hobbies or capacities. But do we know what would have happened if she didn't realise the truth? Perhaps the same thing would have happened. We don't have the same person realised unrealised, if we can even say because it sounds ridiculous unrealised or realised person.
But it's just to illustrate. To actually even say what can change or what does change. It seems like the beliefs at least the most painful most rigid beliefs drop off. And if we believe in a structure called separate self inside that runs the show if that belief is not there it's hard to believe that I'm ugly or I'm unlovable because I'm not this anymore. So everything that associates with the self story drops away. That is regarding the beliefs. But I still know people and I'm very very surprised because their clarity is quite profound and their understanding and the way of expressing is quite good. But they still very very strongly believe and are ready to kill in certain concepts like feminism or flat earth or whatever it is.
The belief is very very strong. I don't quite understand why it hasn't been questioned why the questioning of that didn't come up. I don't have a story. Maybe it won't. So again it's not an obvious answer. What happens to the memory? The power of memory? Yeah, you actually said it. Whatever is necessary in the moment comes up. That's enough. There's no dwelling in the past anymore because the present is just so much more attractive. Memory is there to be utilized. And now Rohan says Many great artists and musicians have said that their inspiration comes from somewhere beyond them. The way it comes it can also disappear, right?
Like turning off a tap. Absolutely. And quite often people become an artist just because being in a state of flow is being in a state of no self. And this is really actually that was the first realizations that I had when I was looking into non-duality when I really saw art coming out through me and I could not take credit for it. I couldn't because it was so obviously not me. And now Charlie is saying Wow, the self is not real. Interesting. Good point. Can you speak more about that? Much love to you both. Charlie, we thought you knew that. Charlie says the self is not real.
I mean the personal self. The imagined self. Because if you want to call self the awareness or the God or the eternal, empty infinite space then you still can't say whether it is real or not real or whether it exists or doesn't exist. But the personal self some little dwarf there sitting inside here or there that is pulling the strings and running the show and making decisions and growing your hair you know it's not there. And we know you know. One self. Self means one. Yes. Julia dropped in belief in Covid. Yeah. It's an example of people who actually stay with the very very firm belief in flat earth.
Oh yes, for example belief that Covid is going to wipe off the humanity and if you don't perpetuate fear you are an asshole or something like that. That's one of them. Absolutely. The really sort of one could say again it's going to sound idiotic but way of enlightened seeing the world is seeing that I don't really know. I don't really know what's true. I don't know if the earth is flat or not. I don't know if the Covid is going to wipe off the humanity or not. We don't really believe in anything. We are open for the life to guide and show and express and unfold without taking strong positions anywhere and creating duality of me and those who believe the same thing I believe versus them.
And they are enemies because they have different belief. We kind of want to really be in a space of awe and wonder of this is life. I don't understand it. I can't actually explain it. It's too complex and too beautiful to have fixed positions about anything. And now Amarnath says when Julia says about Covid, Amarnath says there is no Covid for self. It itself is Covid. Brilliant. Absolutely. It expresses us everything. It expresses us the virus and it expresses us belief in a deadliness of it or the whatever it is. It contains everything. Every single way it manifests is yes. Oh yes, Charlie answers. Oh yes, thanks.
Not the ego of course. Yeah, we know you know. And now Amarnath says memory with memorizer. Belief without believer. It might happen without aid of me, personal self. Yeah. It seems to be this way because personal self is not there. It never existed. Never existed. So even people who do believe in personal self, they just created it by act of belief. It has never been real anyway. And what goes with it are all the other religions. The religion of fear that you've got to perpetuate fear. Make everyone scared because then they will do what you believe is right. That is yeah, that is what goes with belief in self and belief in right.
All belief. All belief. Yeah. We have the company of our cats here. Bob is just patting them on the floor. Okay people. Thank you very much for your contribution. Thank you cats for your answers. Love you all. Yes. So thank you everyone. Yeah. I'll just stop it. Yeah, we have thank you messages now coming up. And love messages and thank you everyone for it.
