History has a beginning. Anything that has a beginning must have an end. What we point to has no beginning, no end. We talk about eternity and people got the idea without questioning or looking into it that it sounds as if billions of light years has a beginning and an end. But if it's got no beginning and no end and there is a presence of awareness where you are right now, when does it begin? You can't pinpoint a beginning to it or an end to it. So, you are eternity. Now, the pattern, shape and form, the nama rupa, nama is the name, another word for it.
That's what you call yourself, Bill, Bob, Bea, you or whatever. And the rupa is the form, the body. We put a label or name on it. And when you look into that, humans have the capacity of reasoning and they've learnt words. We put a name on everything in this manifestation. And it's not all the same name either because different languages, different names, different labels. And the form has no substance or any of the forms have no substance or any independent nature. They're constantly transient. Like that body that you call you is changing right at this moment. And we forget to recognise that. We recognise it and realise, but we keep forgetting it.
But you only got a... And in the moment, you realise you haven't got the same body you walked into this room with as transient as you are. There are thousands of cells dying in it right now. And you don't notice that. But you look back ten years ago, and you'll see that's not the same body you've got. It's not the same body you can go as far back as you remember when you were a little child. It's constantly been changing. But innately, you know an essence or something that's enabled the words to form, the reasoning to go on, and the idea, I was there. Walt Whitman says, I looked down beyond what is the first huge nothing and I know I was even there.
That points out there is a knowing or an essence. Though the thoughts and feelings and emotions, everything is changing in the body, that doesn't change. And when you look at it, what is it? It's not a person. It's not a thing or not a sensation or a feeling. It's a sense of presence. That sense of presence or existence is with you right now. There is an existing. There is a consciousness there or an unawareness, whichever like one, one only. And there is a love to be there. Now can you separate those three things? We call them three things, existence, consciousness, bliss, being, knowing, loving to be.
But each one, each of those labels is an expression of the one. You can never get away from that. There's not even one from that. So what do you have to search for? What do you have to become? What do you need to change? And it's all constantly changing by itself. But we've got this idea and concept, which we've come to believe in, we are the person, the individual, the separate entity. And that came upon us when we had capacity of reasoning and we learnt words. And our parents told us we weren't complete, you weren't whole, you know, you are this person, because they hadn't looked at it either.
And it's been believed in ever since. And then we start reinforcing it ourselves. I am both the Australian, the good fella, or I'm a bad fella, I'm not so good, or I'm unhappy, or I'm depressed. So putting all these concepts and labels on, and seeming splits and divisions on something that is in this immediate, is this immediate, is the constant presence, which has got, this presence hasn't only got the ecstatic point either. It hasn't got any duration, it's spontaneous. Spontaneous, seeming, happening, occurring. The Mahavakya, or the great mantra is, I am that. And don't you innately know that already? We're trying to find out what that is.
But you know it innately already, because everything is that. Which we put labels on. That's the tree, that's the flower, that's the label we put on it. That's the carpet, that's me, that's you. It's all that. And that, again, is the prisoner's awareness that's vibrating and patterning into shapes and forms. And they tell you that in the scriptures too, like Moses on the mountain when he realised that he was that. He says, I am that I am. The I am that I am is the I am that you and everything else is. The same I am. That's the label we put on that sense of presence.
Give it some meaning, some seeming reality. I am. That's all you ever are. The amming, or the is-ing. Stop amming. The sense of being. And being is not becoming. Becoming means it's something that hasn't happened yet and there's a belief that it will happen at some future time. Investigate time and see if there's any duration at all. Though it seems to be, it seems to have a beginning and an end, and you can put all sorts of labels on it, but when does now begin? When does this immediacy begin? Try and grasp it. Try and grasp it with a concept right now and you'll say it's beginning right now.
You know you can't grab it yesterday and say it began yesterday or last week or last year or a billion light years away. You can say that. That's not your experience. Your experience is when does this now begin? You'll say it's beginning right now and even as you're saying that, you realise it's ending and beginning again and ending again. And that you work out it's got no duration. And from there to here, to get to here to the end of the room, it takes duration, which we call saving time. Every step I take to get to the end of the room is always happening in the immediacy of this moment.
It doesn't start somewhere and finish somewhere. It's beginning and end always in the immediacy. You recognise the simplicity of all this and you realise you've always and ever been that. Always. We're caught up in the words and the language and the fears and the anxiety and the stresses, all these sensations. Which we put labels on. Sensation is a pure sensation right in the moment. But what is it when that sensation comes up instead of seeing it fresh and new and seeing it, we identify it with the old label. This one's anger. How do you know? Well, I felt it before. I know what it is.
It stirred up the body and all the rest of it. Another one's fear. Another one's depression. Another one can be joy or happiness. All sensations, fresh and new in the moment. Without the label, it's just what is. With the label, got the word anger, and what happens? You load yourself down with all the old angers you previously had instead of testing it out and see whether it's such a thing as anger or is the fresh and new present sensation. The same with the fear. The joy and everything. And none of them last. Have a look at them. How many of them are lasting? The answer is in the thought-free, ever-fresh, presence awareness.
You know, thought-free. We think we've got to throw all the thoughts out. Doesn't mean that at all. As far as I'm concerned, it might for you. But it means that letting the thought be free. Don't attach to it. Don't fixate on it. Don't stay with it. See what it does if it's left as it is. On its own. And have a look at that. Is it there now? Or is it constantly changing? And can it be there? Can it stay there? If you're not hanging on to it, if it's not being clung to by the concept of me or I? Spontaneous vibrations. Feeling. Constantly changing.
Everything is constantly transient changing. And it can all be broken down into no thing. It all fashions, shapes and forms as things. Every particle in this manifestation that's vibrating as a virus and whatever the other thing is, all sorts of things, the words, the things, they're all things. Appearing in the emptiness of space, silence and stillness, the basic screen. I'll put the label back. Silence, stillness and emptiness, which are just labels also. But there is actually no thing. Because you can't divide space up. You can't find a centre to it. You can't find a circumference to it. You can't see it even is. It is no thing.
And the pattern, shapes and forms appear in it. Vibrating in the pattern, which are things. Can something come from no thing? And that pattern, shape and form is what we are. We are no thing. When the Buddha told us that emptiness is form and the form can't be anything other than emptiness. Well the forms are things. So you and I and these human forms are things. And things are no thing. We are actually no thing. Appearing as things. Am I going to live my life? How did you ever live your life? Is there a you or a believed in entity with any substance or any independent nature that can live a life?
Or is life living, expressing, patterning, shaping and forming? If everything is this one essence, the pattern, shapes and forms are everything in it, all the things are that one life essence. Which is seemingly like ripples on the water. Seemingly many. But are they any ever? Are they any other thing than the water? Can they be anything other than? So that's the same with all the manifestation of things. They're appearing as different. But they're all the one essence. The good, the bad, the pleasant, the painful, the happy, sad. Who are that? Is there any need for the sake of living in this manifestation? Is there a need to label things?
Yes. But you can label things with impunity if you know they're not true to yourself. To express them to others and things like that. You can use the word, use the label. Say this, that, and the other. But it's discriminating your own pattern, shapes and forms. You'll say this is fear, this is anger, this is something else. Put the label on it. And we beat ourselves up with the word. Recognise yourself as no thing. No label can fit you. And if the thought is free, you're letting it be as it is. You can let the thoughts come up and let them move on, let them change, let the feelings come, let the emotions come.
Let life express and play around as it does. Like look out the window there, you see the wind, the air is moving around, we call it wind. And it's moving the branches of the tree which are pulling the leaves around and rolling it around widely. Moving the grass, doing all sorts of things. It's that one energy, patterning, shaping and forming and expressing as everything. And you can be nothing other than that. What does it really matter what you say? What you think? Or what you do? If it's not taken delivery of, if it's not believed in, is it even going to happen? If you've got no idea that there's something there that needs to do something.
The thought that needs to move, it will come up if necessary. If it comes up as thought, it will come up as thought. There's so much spontaneous activity where you don't need thought for. And that's what we need to look at. See if there's any static point anywhere in that body, you can say, this is what I am. See if it has any beginning to it anywhere. How did it begin? It began as a sperm and ovum, two blobs of goo you can't see with your naked eye. So they have long since changed. And the body, the little child, the little embryo, the little fetus has long since changed.
And this body is constantly changing. So there's nothing static about it whatsoever. It's getting old and it's breaking down, falling apart, which things seem to do constantly. The Earth is constantly changing, everything in it is changing. The stars, the planets, and everything. Point out something that's static, changeless. Life essence that you are, it enables this pattern taking, forming to express, it's using it, it's patterned to express through. We'll have it use it, it will break down, and finish up to it one day. But the life that you are, you can't say when it began. Do you think you can say when it will end? Or can it end?
Can you ever postulate a time when there hasn't been this life around? What was before life appeared? Anybody know? You can postulate and think of all sorts of things. And the globe might have been melted lava, or what it was at some time, seemingly solidified now, changed. But has there ever been one particle lost? If it's all the content of space, can you take anything out of space? If this Earth were to blow up right now, break up into subatomic particles, into pure energy, where would it all be? Could it be outside of space? It couldn't. But it wouldn't be the same pattern shape it formed.
As I say, you see, everything's broken down. Recognise and know for certain that you are that already. And live from that point of view. I am that life essence. I am that intelligence energy. I am that fear. I am that anger. There's only one self. Not a personal self. One Atman. They call Atman the self. There's only one Atman. And not many. Many atoms, but not Atman. You are that one self. You've never been separate. There's a great sense of relief, an ease of being in that. A naturalness. Even though things go on in it, in pattern. There can be pain, there can be fear, there can be seeming.
Not fixated on it. It doesn't hang around forever. And there's all sorts of things they're bringing up. They can ease it, give you relief from these sort of things. Operation. Operation you can do. The way the intelligence is functioning. Seemingly progressing. Needs to do. But there is no need for the anger, for the depression, for the guilt, the shame, the psychological suffering that goes on. There's no need for that. As you are, as they say. You hear all these things. The ease of being. Be as you are. Pure being. You are knowing. Life as a self. Life as ever fresh and free. Oneness. All sorts of labels.
Know for certain that which you can't negate. And we put the label on it. What is non-negatable. Being. You can't stop being. And you can't change the being into becoming. Because what seemingly becomes will be the beingness. Will still be the beingness. As being that fresh and new appearance. Relax as they say. And rest. Let it rest in its uncontrived singularity. It's a singularity. And then if you haven't got concepts, ideas, thoughts and beliefs about the other. You're going to be in conflict with them. You're going to be in any resistance to them. Or you're going to leave everything as it is. Even about nature.
You haven't got any conflict with nature. Haven't got any resistance to person, place or thing. Or all that rest. Or all that resistance to the concepts appearing in yourself. Any conflict is anxiety, depression, guilt, shame, remorse. Any conflict is an activity. A fight. A resistance. Do you have to be that? Recognise. Can you be that? If there's no resistance or conflict going on. As Wei Wei Wei says. Why are you unhappy? And he tells you. The cause. The causes. Everything you say. Everything you think. And everything you do. Is for yourself. For myself or me. Who doesn't like it the way it is. It's the cause.
Me. And all your problems. When you look at the so called me. See me is just a word. Just the same as I is a word. I and me. It's meaning the same thing. The word's not the real. You are not that word. But can you negate that beingness? Right here. Right now. In this moment. Not wasing. Not what it was a moment ago. Not what it was a moment in the future. Not the wasing. Or not the becoming. But being right now. Sit with it. What's going on in it? Are you doing anything about that air you just took in? Talking about anything about the next thought that might be coming up.
Might be saying it's all crap or bullshit or whatever. You don't know. Or the feelings or the sensations. There might be an itch somewhere in your body. Eyes might blink. Is there any personal doership to any of it? All the doing happens. There's got to be a subtle thought come up. And the thought might be a reminder about something that needs to be done. Nothing wrong in that. Do you need to go to the toilet or do something like that? Eat some food? You have to keep this pattern, shape and form going. Rambling on about it. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I've got to keep this pattern, shape and form going. Rambling on about nothing. Go on. Go on. You're trying to get off the hook. So it's open. Open for business. What if you all start from the fact you are that. Anybody unhappy? Anybody fearful if you start from that fact? You think you're going on right now? Are you just waiting for the next thought to arise? Or are you trying to work out what you're going to think next?
Another question. But has the breathing stopped? Has the heartbeat stopped? Has your food stopped digesting? Has thoughts stopped arising or coming up or vibrating? Close your eyes, do what you think. All sorts of things are functioning. If you're not saying, I'm doing it, has it stopped happening or is it still functioning? So it doesn't need the I, the conceptual image, to tell you anything. But to translate it, you've got to use I, almost. Translate it anyway. But you see, in the happening itself, it doesn't need anybody or anything. Life is happening. It's occurring. And when the saga doesn't tell you something, there is only life.
Life is all there is. Only life. It's not a personal life. Life is a totality. Only life. And he says there's nobody, no person, who lives a life. It's life that's patterning, shaping and forming. Cognising, knowing. Life is before any pattern, shapes and forms and things came on it. It's just that pure essence, if you like to call it that. You can't even put any label on it without the word. All in that, if you can, for a moment. Just be. Let the breath come naturally. Just the same as the heartbeat. Anyway, tell us about it. There's only one and there's only the one. Well, the one appears as the many.
There's millions of different things appearing in this manifestation. It's all that emptiness forming it all. The one essence. Now it seems as the many. The one appearing as the many. Now in your dream, which appears to be so, all sorts of things are going on. Seemingly in that body. When you wake up, where does it all go? And where does the dream character, you, that character, appearing in the dream, has the dream character? What happened to you? You wake up, now can this be anything other than the dream? It's a waking dream. It seemingly lasts a bit longer than the dream. It carries on next morning.
From where it left off. With the dream you had last night, it's gone. It's seemingly gone forever. And you won't be able to crawl. You know, it's a very heavy dream. You might recall parts of it. Little bits of it here and there. But the actuality of it, no. It just seems to continue. You were character. And you'd be frightened of losing, wouldn't you? But when you go to sleep, you gladly give it up. Gladly give it up. You want to go to sleep when you get a bit of time. You know? So you know when that sleep comes upon you, it's not the end of you.
But it's the end of that dream character. And it's the end of the character in the waking dream too. Also, just to loosen up that idea, because it kind of feels like, look how many individuals. This is me, individual unit. So just to loosen it up a little bit, you could actually have a glance on the different scales. Like this individual unit is 300... Trillions or billions or whatever individual cells. It's the whole colony. It's like one tenth of the cells belong to the body. And they are parasites. They are all sorts of different enzymes and bacterias that kind of contribute to that unit. That's looking one way.
And also you could make it to the elements or subatomic particles that are individual. But looking the other way, that unit, when you actually zoom out a little bit, is a part of a community or part of the family or part of the nation or part of the whole ecosystem of the planet. So now the individuality is not that rigid because it feels like, yeah, this is the unit that you can't question. I can't question that I'm separate. So you can. You can just kind of see how conceptual it is. See how this is an assumption that this is the individual unit. And yes, in the dream it appears this way because you can think of water appearing as a river, ocean, lake, dewdrops, rain.
All that is water, but it appears in many, many different forms. So it is relevant in a way, but also it is conceptual. It is made up concept because if you go back to the plane experience without any labels or code of the concept, code, car, or the house of the concept that you put on yourself, the direct experience is only of sensing, sensing. Perceiving. It's like perception happens from here. There are some floating sensations going on in there. There are different sounds and stuff. And to attribute it to the seer is a conceptual step. Like if you go back to what is real in this moment, the real in this moment is, yes, there is a being and stuff, like Tony used to say.
It's just stuff popping up. Different things come and go. Different clouds, different thoughts, sensations. But that there is someone who has them, that's an assumption. Because, yeah, there is a being, but that being, to attribute it to the individual, that's the assumption. That's not the reality. It feels this way because the way brain is structured, in the brain stem you have this sense of location that kind of makes it possible to move around, you know, so you don't bump to people or chairs or something, you know, kind of limitations of your vehicle. But the same way you know the limitation of your car. It's just for the convenience, for the functioning.
But you don't say you are your car. So it is really, it will always appear this way. Like Bob is saying sometimes, even though you know that the water in the sea is not blue, it's clear, it still appears to be blue. So even though you know there is something and there is no individual or there is no little human there or monkey that is driving the thing, it still appears as there is a free will or control or it still appears this way. But you know the truth and the truth sets you free. So you don't take it seriously. You don't take it personally.
You just see how the body functions. You see how it takes decisions or makes choices. But you know this is the part of functioning of the body and you are the awareness, the space-like being, that is enabling it to do whatever it is doing. And actually seeing it moment to moment how you don't know what you are going to say. You don't know whether you are going to ask the next question or not. Or you don't know whether you are going to wave your hands or not. You don't know those things. And just discovering what the body is going to do, what decisions, what choices, what's...
Yeah, just watching it almost as if that was your kind of avatar or your puppy that you like. Or your baby. It really kind of takes the sting out of... Because being an individual, obviously you want to be the best self you can be. And then you have the high standards and then you hate what you have. You want better, you want a self-improvement. You don't really have much of self-love in that limited condition. But once this is impersonal, you know that this one, whatever it does, is completely innocent. It's just a curious way it moves around. And you're kind of less involved in... You have less expectations towards it and you have more of the warm feelings towards it because this is not you, this is it.
And at the same time, everything is you. Everything, including the air and the space and the cuts in the room. So it's not exclusive that I'm exclusively it. Inclusively I'm everything. Or I am nothing in which everything appears, which boils down to the same thing. It's like the... You arrive here, you think you want to come here. You know, you're the inquirer. You think you've actually decided to come here. Well, that's erroneous as well. It's part of... It's here. There's someone inside you that's chosen to come here. To go to here to die, that's a nice way to say it. Well, that's the whole thing.
To die to the self. And so the dream could change. It does. It's a beautiful, absolutely beautiful world. To wake up from the dream. An entity believes he's coming here. Well, there's no entity. That's the problem. Can I ask you a question, Kat? You sort of looked into the Course in Miracles a bit. I did. And they call it the dreaming of the dreaming. What does that mean exactly? The dreaming of the dreaming? I'm not quite sure if I actually looked into it enough. I don't remember that one. It's a big, big book. But the dreaming of the dreaming kind of instinctively feels like it is...
It is an ING, the activity. So it is actually... It's like a spider making a net out of itself. The same way the awareness makes the ocean makes a wave out of itself. So it is dreaming. And the dream is not a static thing. It is constantly fluid. It's constantly moving. It's like I told you. The dream is not your concern. Why is anybody concerned with the dream? Is it true? Does it last? Is it a moment of pleasure if it was a good dream? Or is it a horrible dream it might be able to fear? But it's a dream. When was it ever real?
Dream is not your concern. Your concern is your love moment part of it or not the other. Love all of it. Say it all as it is. Or none of it. And in viewing in this way, we've been in the city yesterday with Bob. And because this is a kind of a nice example of a dream and validity of things in the dream. There was a protest. And there was a big, big crowd. And Bob was a big part of the protest. And Bob, well, my eyes are too bad anyway. But he couldn't read what they had on the boards either. So I got the phone and went on the news and tried to figure out what they were protesting about.
And I couldn't really find much of the information. But there was a protest going on about closing Aboriginal communities. There was one option. How beautiful. One could call it resistance. Yeah, you should just love what it is. Don't resist anything. No. Together with closing the communities comes up the resistance of the people who actually love and care and really want to contribute. This is, again, non-doership. The resistance of the movement of protesters is equally functioning of life. But perhaps it wasn't it because the other option was the climate change. So it could have been climate change protesters. And how beautiful is that? And then Bob mentioned, maybe one of his step-granddaughters is there protesting.
Oh, beautiful. Like, beautiful. Taking a position. Life moves you into joining something to save the world or save the planet. You know, it doesn't matter. It's a dream. You can still play all your roles in the dream. And you can still put all your heart into saving that existence in the moment. It could have been vegans also because there was another option. Different protesters. Vegans, oh, my gosh. You know, having a heart for ending the suffering of those poor animals. Like, you know. It's resistance on one hand. And on the other hand, it's really love in action. Yeah. Compassion, yeah. Yeah. Well, it's always two ends of the one stick.
It can go to either end. Like, just take the body, for instance, you know. All the organs in it, the heart, lungs, kidney, liver and all the rest of it. Could they function on their own? Can't cut a hay out and say, sit there and beat. You bastard. It won't happen. So everything in this manifestation is all. You can't separate any of it, really. So everything that goes on goes on. And also having compassion for your stomach and not eating too much fish and chips. I'm kidding. It's, yeah. But really, looking this way. Having compassion for the different scales, for the planetary scale or something.
Holistic. But, yeah. But also having a compassion for the universe. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So having a compassion for your own spine and having it a little bit stretched. Or having compassion for your lungs and quit smoking. It's like, yeah. Why not? I mean, everything is alive because this is life. Life expressing in everything. So it's not that the rock is dead, and a person is alive, and a cat is alive but the horse is dead you can kill it or call. It's just really seeing the life in action in everything, that everything on that basic level could be called conscious.
Not conscious in a physical way. a way having networks which will enable it to calculate or compare or do some logic, but conscious in a way that it is alive is maybe not that closely correlated because the different definitions of consciousness they say about computing capacity. So like low computing capacity there is a consciousness, but low let's say the consciousness of a cell. But anyway, even the rock has the non-zero capacity. It is everything is the same one life expressing as different forms so it is alive. So seeing this way actually opens the heart for everything even for the elements of the bodies like cells or liver or whatever.
And it kind of brings that sense of responsibility which is not a personal choice, but it's a natural consequence. Of respect and love towards everything that appears. It feels like qualities like compassion, they come up out of this a lot. They're like fruits of it. They seem to emanate. So it suggests there's some qualities, some sort of qualities to this nothingness. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah. Like what do you want to call it? Love? What do you want to call it? Yeah. Love. I mean there are labels I know, but that does come up. Without the label, spontaneous joy. A label will always look for an answer.
Will always look for an answer. Yes. And yeah, like can anything exist without the sun for example? Sun doesn't care whether you're hiding or you know, doesn't care what's happening. Doesn't know anything else. Can never meet the night. Yeah. If it's looking for darkness, it can never find it. I was just saying compassion and that comes up. That's what it feels like. I feel a compassion towards another human, which happens a lot. Yeah, I know, but see what I'm trying to say. Spontaneous. Spontaneous, you know. It comes up naturally. It comes up naturally, yeah. It's more the end of the stick that says, don't beat me, as opposed to the end of the stick that says, beat me, stick.
And this is probably going to sound conceptual as well, but the spontaneous, the creativity that comes up, it feels like that is also for a higher good. If you want to use that term, I know you're going to say good, bad, shut it all up, shut all that down. But it feels like it's for a higher good. It's not dark, it's not shit. It's, do you know what I'm trying to say? Yeah, it's more kind of refined. It's for a higher result of some sort. Why are you this way? The body, like you see, everyone appreciates the love, the respect, the caring. We are wired this way.
This is part of the ultimate pleasure. Like everybody will avoid pain or burns or hurts or something and will follow the bliss, will follow the pleasure. With animals, the same. They just, this is the natural wiring. And the love and compassion and gratitude, they're something that, gosh, like, I don't know. There are societies in which, I think, it's a Bhutan which the level of, yes, yes, the gross, how you say it? Happiness product, I think it is. Yeah, the gross product that the country is proud of is a level of, subjective level of happiness. If people are happy, they will be naturally compassionate, helping one another.
They will be caring. They won't need to snatch anything from one another because they're already happy. They're fulfilled. So that's striving for happiness. Even in American Constitution, I think they say everyone has a right to strive for happiness the way they want. So we are naturally wired to want that joy, compassion, love, happiness. This is something that we consider naturally as the highest sort of level of consciousness, definitely higher than the survival mode in which you want to kill everyone else and you want to just be the strongest or the fittest and you want to just take advantage of people because it doesn't really feel right.
We are wired naturally towards those. We are more subtle, more refined and more pleasurable for us, energies. Yeah. What's stopping that from happening? Exactly. The formation of concepts, thoughts, feelings, emotions. And the wrong assumption. There is a wrong assumption that there is a center that needs protection. There is a self-center. There is a me and that me is in danger. Or that me doesn't have everything it deserves. Or it wants or it needs. And it needs to get it. And it doesn't matter to everyone else. This is all about me. So that is the core of all the nastiness. That is the core of the suffering.
And this is a wrong assumption. It's not true. So you are traveling lighter when you are not obsessed with yourself. You are just traveling lighter. So you are open to, I like to call it responding. It's another thing with an ing on it. So when there is a need, there is a need. There is no narrative about a me that doesn't exist. You are just open to responding. Just responding, responding, responding to whatever is. No resistance. You could say the me is like a reptilian. Absolutely. Yeah. Or a parasite. Yeah. There is no emotion whatsoever. I don't get any ideas. Any higher or lower. Where would you measure it from?
Where is the center? It's all just as it is. The time is now. It's not a matter of time. It's a matter of time. It's a matter of time. It's a matter of time. It's a matter of time. It's a matter of time. You have to take the concepts off. You are not putting any concepts on it. Who can be superior to you? Who can be inferior to you? What do you want about it? And that natural clarity or joyousness must respond. Nothing to impede it. Nothing to stop it. Nothing to block it. The 3 types of love is eros, ophilia, and the alpha. Eventually, the level of sensation it's just like less, fewer sensations are around that set the alarm bells off.
There's less of that happening. That's at the other level apart from the story. Who deserves peace? Ha ha. Yeah. Who deserves it? Very good point. Did I say something, Bob? Did you want to say something? There's two of them. Yeah. Those who don't deserve it are the ones that are disturbing it. And who deserves it doesn't deserve it. Nice quote. There is a peace. Peace that passes all understanding. Yes. Not in the mind. And is it ever obscured? Like that peace or that space or that silence? Whatever is going on, whatever the story or turmoil or identification or false assumption, does it really ever get obscured?
Like, you know, it may seemingly feel like it, like, oh yeah, now I'm angry or aggressive, so I'm not peaceful. Yeah, okay, but am I not aware? Am I not alive? Am I not existing? The existence, the awareness is always there. There is a storm on the surface, but down there, on the basic level of existence, I still am, and I still am conscious. And then staying with the I am conscious is peaceful. Only going into the conceptualized, the conceptualized, the conceptualized, the conceptualized, the conceptualized, the conceptualized, the conceptualized, the conceptualized, you are always thinking. Hopefully I don't have to stay evenings and nights slit off at the depths of what I am and are and what it'd be like to і But if I'm going Chairman and all really, if I'm standing in the room during a home the prevention going on, and the WiFi, if I need it to work, the saying it's a nice analogy but yeah it doesn't really mean that the story will not come up because that's that does how how Bob beautifully says it unless you have brain damage or Alzheimer stories or thoughts will come up because that's their function just like sweating of the body or secreting hormones or digesting it will happen it's just that it doesn't really happen to anyone nobody feeds it or owns it or resists it so when the story comes up and the story let's say is even charged hardly because it kicks into something that was on the cellular level written in the body in the early age or whatever and it kind of has that charge then okay let's see how long it is gonna last let's see how long the story is gonna be here and do nothing about it because if I have a story let's say a resentment and I try to push it down or I try to do whatever now the assumption comes that there is a me who has the free will and who can do something about it I'm back in the double story me having a story about having a story that's that's a suffering that's being lost well see if I understand that okay story came up the story has shown up oh yeah that's right I did nothing about it dropped off now.
How am I going to prevent it from happening again? I'm back in the story Oh, yes Back to the 12 steps. We ask him to remove your shortcomings, you know him being a concept for God I'm being a slave, but when you have a look at a pattern you just simply ask that someone else remove it Whatever that power is you don't say I'm gonna remove it When I got my yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right and that's what I'm agreeing with yeah Yeah, there's nothing Awareness of the pattern. Yeah, Tony has a little bit of a different language and I really like the way No, yeah, that's right and also what would you say that you know You don't really even want it to go you just you know like if there is if there is a resistance towards that computing or analyzing or what you say the yes because then you know there is a resistance towards learning from the learning or from the even that should be left as it is everything if it's left as it is I mean of course if the if the thought comes up God remove it that's another pattern in it also which should also be left as it is like if we see the pattern from the perspective that is completely neutral left as it is now and now I am the non doing awareness if I want to do anything about it if I wanted not to be there or I wanted to be removed or I wanted anything that is again the me having an agenda towards what is happening in the present moment but anyway been getting that from watching this K-dramas and the things that really impact on you know make me scared which is usually some aggressive person getting in the way of other people loving each other and then them wanting to be subservient and sad and miserable and the rest of it it's very common especially in the Taiwanese are the worst and so but it's just that like really like seeing the fears and just seeing examples are gone, but the tiny, the tiny differentiations in it, and then not being differentiated, it's just energy.
One more major one was like, you know, seeing that regression, and then this pattern, wanting to like externally fix, you know, he could say that, and he could do that, and tell them they shouldn't be doing that, whatever, and then there's like, oh, there goes that pattern, that's interesting, it's that backup business again, that fighting back, and then there's just a sense of the sensory side of it, just being, oh, just sinking down, and submitting to, not submitting, but surrendering, or just like, oh, but, you know, going with what you often say about, oh, that's just energy, almost love, like there's energy, that aggression, aggressive cycle person, that kind of energy is also just love when you just let it be, it's soft self, just energy, no matter, you know.
Even if it can be labeled aggressive, and then submitting to that as well, like letting go, there being a differentiation between aggressive and fighting back, or the two people, just let it go, and it's just like, just a natural part, and loving, a loving part, a love part of life, the aggressive side, and then the other side, not having to, just sinking down into the depths, not having to fight back, because it was just the same stuff, and it's just like a lovely play. Yes. So it was just that sort of noticing the sensations of how that felt, of sinking down, letting go, of it being separate, or being kind of negatively aggressive, you know, just being more loving, because it is, and doing, it's just energy doing its thing.
Yeah, yeah. That was one aspect, and then the other more subtle ones I started off with, I sort of forgot, but it was also, once again, just seeing it as the same stuff, rather than a different thing. Yeah, yeah. And then assessing some distinctions. Yeah. Mm. Amazing. I just noticed that the scismin just didn't happen, so then there's a different feeling there. But you see, even, I mean, I love that this is a great gift of yours, to be able to assess the distinctions, because you have such a way of actually seeing the subtleties of every pattern. There's not many people who can actually see it that well, and that is very inspiring.
I can't explain, and I just love it. No, I think it's really... Actually, to be... To be able to notice in a way that is actually curious and neutral, like, you know, the pattern goes on, let's say anger, and then the assessment of the anger, and then wanting to fix the anger, and then, you know, all those intellectual, those mental patterns on top of energetical patterns. This is, when you actually really put your mind into finding with the full curiosity what is really a content of this moment, there is no really much of the... There is no really much of the... There is no really much of the...
There is no really much of the room to have any resistance towards it, because all the computing capacity goes into distinguishing that subtleties. And actually, the first two, this is not really very head-based. The third one is for me, because I'm often the fixing site, that's often a little head bubble. Uh-huh. The first two really aren't. They can just be occurring. Yeah. They're not even located, you know? They can just really be quite neutral, just like words coming past, you know, thoughts coming out. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Third one is me and head bubble. Mm-hmm. I'm sure, like, the fixing stories, because you only notice them when you drop out of it.
Mm. And then you get some memories of it. Oh, that's tough, what happened. And you forget what you're talking about. And at the same time, as you have those observations of what is going on within, there are also things going on without. Like, there are also sounds going on. There are sounds in the background, so there are sounds in the room, or there are, you know, different flavors, and there are different positions of the body. There is a lot going on. There are different things going on in every single moment. Yeah, I think that's kind of, no, but what I've witnessed, so to say that everything is available, sure, it might be traveling in with little particles into the body, into the ears, into the wherever, but it's not really available in the experience ever.
There's only ever one thing in awareness at a time that I, from this experience here, that's what, you know, when people say simultaneously things get noticed, I think that that's just a bit of a fuzzy noticing. Yeah, that's... To tell you the truth, I really think... That's the point. ...this system only does see in awareness one way or another. And I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. Yeah, I think that's a good point. I think that's a good point. Yeah, I mean, yeah, no, no, you're probably right. The thing about fuzzy noticing is just the same way you look at the perception.
When you focus laser sharp on one object, you already see one object. And the eye is constructed the way that you actually visual field is very, very narrow, so you only see one thing and the eye move very, very fast to cover up the whole area of viewing and then assume that the picture is clear. You really see only one little spot clear and the rest is fuzzy or whatever, blurred. But having the blurred vision, the blurred general awareness, just like the peripheral vision, like you're not focusing on anything. You kind of allow everything to be clear. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Like everything, everything that comes in to be, without focusing- this is when Bob says, stay utterly awake with five senses wide-open and unfixated awareness. Like, you don't zoom in on any particular detail, but include everything and then everything becomes blurred. I guess I'm only saying this because sometimes talking about cross purposes can take clarity away. What I was heading at, even those sort of noticing what is being noticed is very subtle and very distinctive mental capacity. So noticing the noticing or noticing the assessing is already kind of a meta level as you say it. So actually being aware of what is going on here kind of in a blurred way because you're not assessing right now, you notice the assessing.
That's sort of a meta level. In which the noticing is the assessing doesn't get that much energy anymore because the noticing gets more. Yeah and then there's I was going into a final level and then of course you don't think about it because you know that's the point. That's the final level. All that activity is usually completely impersonal isn't it? Like you don't assess your assessing. It's just assessing. Yeah, it's just going on and it gets noticed in the memory. When somebody asks about it. Yeah, I think about it. So you're quiet Terry, have anything to say today? No, not yet. Asking questions. I don't have a question.
Can you expand on that? Yeah. Aphileo is friendship isn't it? The Greek word aphileo. Eros, as we mature as beings, our bodies change to erotica. A sexual drive. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I write together, sort of go together a bit, don't I? For a while, until things sort of crumble. And the third one is non-conceptual agape. Unconditional. Sustained all. It's not personal. It doesn't belong to anybody. Some were wrong and some... Pardon? You mentioned that some were wrong? No. Not a wrong? Maybe more dual. Yeah, more dual. OK. I wanted to clarify because I'm just hurt. Depending on separateness. Yeah. Well, my family, my tribe, it's all mine, isn't it?
My country. Roaming, quarrying. My country. Jesus went off into the desert. He was tempted by the devil. So you get tempted by the devil when you start. Devil who? That's a question. I'm tempted by the devil. Devil mind, maybe, eh? The devil's the self-centre. Yeah, the mind. The devil's the self-centre. Me, me, me, me. Yeah. So you are your own devil. The devil brought up these thoughts in his mind. We bring up these doubts and thoughts. But there's no such thing as mind, even. Yeah, suppose I wasn't bedevilling. That's what was happening today. I wasn't bedevilling some things. So when something's sharp instead of going, oh, that's the way of clarity or whatever, I wasn't bedevilling them, you know?
It was taking that lay and saying, oh, yeah, that lay wasn't occurring. It was just, oh, OK, you have to sit with it, you know? Sure. I mean, you know, a couple of hours of not doing what might supposedly lead to more clarity. But I wasn't bedevilled, and so it just got felt, those feelings. Feelings, you know, they didn't get put into a box of, you know, is this clarity doing that activity or that activity? Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Whereas I think it's where that expectation and the subtle level comes in, you know? Oh, clarity's supposed to look like this. Behaviour towards clarity's supposed to look like that.
You know, or anything's supposed to look like anything. That is great to see. Writing the sensations instead, and then it just, like, just, like, catch it going, catch it being labeled, and then it goes on. And then it goes on, and then you almost catch it being labeled again, and it goes on, and it's like this. It's like always coming in. I guess you could call that vigilance. That's the kind of vigilance for me where it's, well, I'm not doing it. Yeah, it's, yeah. But it's vigilance that's happening in a way. Mm-hmm. And to be, like, spotted at that kind of sensation level. But, yeah, that is beautiful.
Because, yeah, vigilance feels like some very, very hard task that is exhausting and that is, oh, gosh, why would I, what have I done wrong to be vigilant for the rest of my life and unable to relax and enjoy life? No, it's not that. It's the natural curiosity in which you see. And what you say, again, is so important, to actually be able to see the subtle expectations, how the clarity should look like. Like, everyone who believes that they are not that yet or not there yet or I'm not enlightened yet. Enlightened is a stupid word, but because no one to be enlightened. But I'm not free or I'm not freedom.
I'm not the awareness. I'm not the idiot. It means there is a subtle expectation that there should be something different here. There should be, I don't know, more pleasure or more bliss or more love. There should be something else than what is. Maybe just more clarity right now. Or more clarity. Because if you know what clarity would be like, that's not happening right now. Yeah. Yeah, you know, expecting it to show up. Exactly. And having the concept of clarity to say, you have to have a concept to say that it's not there. Yeah, but, I mean, you know, I guess even if it's not clarity per se, but that set of, you know, that set of, that way of being is not showing right now.
And that particular way of being, you may be with a preference or not towards it, it's just not showing. But there's frustration that it's not. Yeah. For whatever reason. Yeah. And, yeah, that's not there. That's lifted. Exactly. And even saying that something is not showing up is comparing things on a subtle level with the memory of how it would be if it was showing up and it is not. So that all that mental activity, to actually see it and completely leave it as it is, without any resisting it, trying to patch it up or fix it, but just see it as an interesting wave, interesting pattern, moving through the field of awareness that I am, that open field of awareness that I always already am.
And then just enjoying it, enjoying the play, because that's what it is for. Yeah. You know what I mean? It's like I don't even need to go there. No. I'm just, I'm just awareness. That's it, yes. You know what I mean? There's no analysis, there's no – No. The less thinking, the more freedom there is. Yeah. It's like – Yeah, and the intellectuals want it, I know, I'll tell you that. Mm-hmm. No, no. Well, part of the ego, then. What did you say, Bob? I said, Adrian said, that's the most important thing in the life. Yeah. It's parallelism. Yeah. There's a distinction between your macroanalysis and just observation.
It isn't analysis, but it might appear to be . Yeah, it might. It might. Yeah, we are all different. Unique patterns of energy. That's it. We hear the word analysis, then it starts putting up. All love? Putting up. Yeah, sometimes it's part of functioning, you know? The noticing and being able to articulate it in a proper way is part of the functioning, and I believe that's the greatest gift of Tony. And I don't have that gift, and maybe you don't have it either. So for me, it is just silence, emptiness, nothing. You have quite a strong thing on that area. That's why you can get what I'm talking, you know, get whatever.
Yeah, I can get what you're saying, because you're showing it with great clarity. But to be honest, I don't really have that going on in my head. You know, whatever is going on is being ignored, so I don't really have that. Yeah. I don't really know. I don't like that statement, to be honest. What are you talking shit before? You're right. Yeah, it is. Yeah, I've been talking shit. I mean, I don't really know what I'm talking. It's just being saying. Yeah, I would like to be honest. People say, ah, to be honest. To be honest, when I say it, it is to highlight. Yeah.
It's giving it a little bit of an exclamation mark. It's saying, ah, you know what? Nothing what we say here is... A lot of people say it down in the stadium or whatever. You're right. They'd like to be honest, you know? I'm a car salesman, all right? You know what I mean? Yeah. No, no, no. To be honest. To be frank. Do you like to be frank? Who's Frank? I don't know. You know. Yeah. You're right. They'd love to be honest. I'm a freak. He lives in Turek. I've got the comment, how are you going today? How are you? That's dumb. That's just dumb, actually.
I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, yeah. I don't say it. I don't know. How are you? I'm good. I'm from me. What about you? I'm from me. Ooh. That's me. That's me. That's you. Yeah. Wake up. There's nothing left to say. Yeah. It's a good sign. Who cares? Like that sign you have on the sink from Bob's first wife left on the sink. There is nothing left to say but smile. Smile. Natural state. Recommending to people who haven't had an opportunity to sit with Bob. Oh, yeah. Still doing sessions to come and sit with Bob. Still doing, yes. And also with Terry. I've done a couple of sessions with Terry online.
And I've had a significant shift since then as well. An amazing coincidence. Like the night after I did a session with him, I bumped into him at the airport. Yeah, that's right. The next day. I was following him people in Melbourne or something. But. You worked that out well. Yeah. Yeah. But just. Picking up our kids. Picking up our kids. But I didn't pick up his son, me. Picking up. My daughter. But since then I've kind of had like. Like the images are coming up. So talking about analysis. That's more like the images are just kind of coming up. And it's like almost like a flash from a movie.
It's like they're coming up and I'm just seeing them. And it's kind of normally I get engaged. So there's not even the analysis. It's just an awareness that they're popping up. So that's sort of. The screen. Yeah, it's like. And lots and lots and lots. And sometimes it's like. And not in my life either. It's like other stuff. You know, it's just like popping up and I'm gone. And it's such a minute. It's so minute compared to. Or along with. Everything else that's popping up. That we don't give any attention to. We don't. We're so. We give so much attention to. What pops up in the images or the thoughts of the ideas.
Or the beliefs of the words. The sounds. The sentences. Whatever we give. All. Nearly all of our attention goes to that. To the exclusion of everything else. And that also just pops into existence. Just like the clouds float by do. Or the wind rustling a leaf on a tree. Like. There's so much happening. There's so much happening. And we. We're focused on our culture. You know? We're focused on our culture. The forest. Yeah. I get it. It's one way of looking at it. It's one way of looking at it. But eventually. Burnt tree. Eventually. Eventually. You have to come to see that the answer's not in there.
It's just not in there. We can analyse the buggery out of it. Talk about it. We can even talk about what it's not. Or we can talk about what we actually are. You're saying it's better to bugger than Alice's answer. The answer's not in there. And in the absence of that, there's no question and no answer, nor a need for one. In the absence of that. Or, no, that's misleading. When all of the attention's not on, when the attention's not divided, or we don't discriminate or isolate, but when the attention is everywhere and everything, who cares if one of the 300,000 leaves that are on that tree out there happens to have fallen down and hit the ground?
Or a cloud that was there five minutes ago has now disappeared. Or a thought that might... might float through or just appear for a moment and then it's gone. Like, it's so... When we particularise like that, we miss everything. We actually miss everything. And, you know, we can talk about what... Like I've just done. Kind of done. We can talk about what it is. Yeah? That it's just an expansion of everything. A complete spontaneity of everything. Everything. Including you. Yes. Excluding nothing. Like, everything. You know? We could go there and unless that's actually experienced it, we've just got to meet trying to grab a hold of that as another concept.
Another idea. You know? Whereas the true investigation is constantly keep coming back to Who am I? Where am I? Is there an I? Is there a me? Constantly. Constantly come back to that. If you're not there, then where you are is here, trying to conceptualise. Constantly. Constantly no sense here, trying to conceptualise about this. You've got to get out of there because the answers, it's simply, it's not in there. At some stage, let me say, that you've got to get out of there. You know, it kind of gets used for a moment but you've got to see the futility of it. You know, it's... It can't know anything.
It can't. Everything it seems to know or understand is purely conceptual. Absolutely nothing beyond someINDENICATION in CONCEPTS. but conceptuality, but that's it. And a concept's not real, it's a concept, it's an idea. We're trying to frame something that we believe is real. So we believe that's real, and then we put a concept together around that that we believe to be real. But that that we believe to be real is also a concept. So you've just, oh. There's no you can see anything. You've gotta get out, you've gotta, yeah. Just. Yeah, both of it, yeah. And there's, Terry's not an ad, or if you listen to Douglas Harding and have a look, he got no ad anyway.
So where is it then? And of course, I just add this one so that makes it clear. That is all valid if you're still seeking, if you are a seeker and you look for the answer or for the questions. Because if you don't have questions or answers, it's absolutely not. Nothing wrong in loving that dead leaf to fall off the tree, one of 300 million trees or whatever. It's nothing wrong with absolutely anything. Whatever shows up is what shows up. But if you are still a seeker and you look for the answers, then yes, they won't be in the thinking, they won't be in conceptualizing.
But at the same time, being capable of focusing selectively on whatever appears is the only way to actually acknowledge it and love it and appreciate it. So it is, it is, it is, it is. It is a different phase of experiencing and expressing itself as that. If you are a seeker, that part is probably going to come a bit later. First comes first, the questioning whether it is really anyone to who it is all being related. But if relating doesn't happen anymore, then of course there's nothing to be done. Of course there is no need to question or do anything. It's just see where you are and what you want.
Because if you want nothing, your expression is delightful. But if you do still want the enlightenment of freedom or you still believe you are a self and you want to get out of it, then yes, then Terry is the best one to go to and verify that. Oh, of course Bob is the best. Sorry, darling. Yeah, and Bob is, yes, he is still available for the sessions. And Bob is available all along. I mean, not just for the beginners who need to question. They're validating of the self. But also along the way as they actually expand and see more and more, resonate with more and more details, and settle down and stabilize in the realization moment to moment.
He gives the assistance that is clearing all the doubts, bringing up whatever is being conceptualized to what it is in the object or in the space. So yeah, it's irreplaceable. And it's available on Skype. And he, matter of fact, he has quite a few Skype calls per week, which is great. And a lot of success with that, which is great. Yeah. It's enjoyable. It's much more enjoyable to speak to someone who is really earnest and is really on the track and is really resonating. It's not guru hopping. Like a lot of people go from one guru to another. Just go and learn one language. As long as they know one way of expressing, they go to someone else who uses different analogies for completely different, or the same analogies for different illustrations, which is totally, you know, it's all language.
It's totally flexible. But it just makes people, often people come completely confused to Bob. And he has to ground them, because they've been in two, three different guys. And they logically understood different topics or different aspects. And understanding it logically is not it. Yeah, so he's still there. Funny way of in front of me. Maybe you want to add something. I can tell you what's being pointed to. You can't help but see it. Is it? OK. Thank you.
